In August 2013, China unveiled the World's Largest Building, the New Century Global Center. It features a mall, hotels, entertainment, food, and of course an indoor water park. We spent the day at the Global Center the day after it opened. Here are the highlights from our day.

I have been in the Eaton centre (Toronto at 155,063 square metres of floor space), Suntec city in Singapore (76,309.8 square metres of floor space) and Vivo City in Singapore (140,000 square metres). This is has 1,700,000 square metres of floor space making it 22 times the size of Suntec City, 12 times the size of Vivo City and just under 11 times the size of the Eaton Centre. Its ginormous, although it most probably won’t count as a shopping mall because it’s a multipurpose building with a lot of other features as well.

Wow, that soda + popcorn holder thing is really smart. Not big enough for American size but saves a lot of space in the seat.

+Peichen01 'Not big enough' for american size? Are you referring to the portion size, or the average, morbidly-obese american? Either way - they can BOTH do with some SERIOUS cutting back, cutting-down, or ELIMINATION from in-take, all-together. The gluttony, - just nauseating.

+U.N. Owen I am talking about American portion of popcorn. The small plastic tray couldn't handle the big bag of popcorn in American theaters

No wonder Americans are so fat. You hardly find fat people in East Asia. Everything they eat is in small portion.

this place is pretty awesome .. and if you think about most of the famous "largest floorplans" in the past have been either factories or official-use-only government buildings - when was the last time it was a public space? :)

The domestic economy is capitalist and free market so living costs are low, I used to work right next to it, and the shops were cheap just luxury brands were expensive. My salary was 5000USD Per month so it was incredibly cheap for me to go there, but the average salary for a Chinese individual is 1200 USD per month (rent and utilities plus food would be 400 USD (even cheaper if you're living as a family unit) so they definitely have enough spending power to afford this. Everyone wins in a free market Society

not shocking really, expect china to become the next superpower. power always moves east, if history has anything to say about it, they will experience a time similar to america back in the med 80's to 90's just with slight differences to it. then, after several decades, power will shift again, moving to russia or germany then back to britan gain only to arrive back to america. it seems to be a pattern but thats my outlook =/
