Handling this firearm in person was impressive, but I will admit that there is little distinction in felt weight between a three and five-pound rifle when they get that light. I am looking forward to seeing more developments with the tensioned-barrel concept. If an integral suppressor were added to the barrel-retention nut at the front, maybe even mimicking the profile and thickness of the hand guard, I bet the set-up would be very light and extremely quiet for a 5.56.
@parkerwilson78603 жыл бұрын
I think the difference is in the accessories. With cautiously picked accessories, a mid 3lb rifle could be a 5 pound rifle with optics, suppressor, laser etc. Whatever you need. Vs 5lb rifle moving up to 7lb region

I gotta say, this has been one of if not THE best product presentations and shit-shoot I've ever seen. Real down to earth, homestyle stories of development, and brilliant design choices. MOA are real standup people, credit given where credit is due, that's not a bad price. To be frank lots of people are going to freak about the price, but the quality of concept, production, and machining looks spot on, and I know plenty of guys who've sunk right around $3,000 in aftermarket parts alone into ONE of their multiple AR's. Without optics $3,200 is pretty nice for something you won't put much else into, especially compared to some custom 1911 proshops and small-batch rifle manufacturers.

@ravener964 жыл бұрын
@@100ghillie it's also marketing BS. the amount of momentum transferred to the shooter is the same, they just dump it all at once when the carrier bounces off the buffer in the back. no way there is enough spring pressure to slow that rocket of a carrier
@tmpace94 жыл бұрын
@@ravener96 You're right, but for the wrong reason. There are springs that can dampen the violence of the BCG. However, the momentum (being a function of both velocity and mass) will be affected by the mass and velocity but only marginally. It also depends a lot on the buffer spring coefficient. In a perfect setup, this would help recoil but it requires tuning across the entire rifle to make a large difference.
@ravener964 жыл бұрын
@@tmpace9 momentum is always conserved, it's a law of physics. since you give the same ammount to the bullet either way you will recieve the same ammount in turn. the entire gun as a system will impart the same momentum on your shoulder no matter how you set up the BCG. kinetic energy is a different story, but recoil is about momentum change.
