A group of 5 people travel at speed down an abandoned railway line from Cisneros to Anolaima in Colombia. Transportation is just a platform with wheels and a brake - no engine, just gravity. A drop of over 2500 feet in 14 miles through a tunnel. The fastest stretch is at the end.

Aside from moving the car over the obstacles this looks like a fun ride. As soon as I saw the first 10 seconds I knew it was Colombia before I even read the description. This reminds me of going through the Andes when I was there many years ago. Such a beautiful country. Thanks for the memories. I'm going to forward the link to my friend in Bogota.

The loops and the "g" forces on the ride, made me want to come back for more and more. Plus, the thrill of not having a harness to keep you in the car, kept my adrenaline going! What a ride! When Disney sees this, they're going to want it as well! It's just amazing, what you can do, with two pieces of steel.

Great video, thanks for keeping the music low , good choice of music ! My grandfather used to ride on the old rail cars about the size of that one except it had a 250cc two stroke engine underneath that propelled it for the work crew. They would flip it over onto the tracks then push it whichever direction they wanted to go, it would run either way.

Okay, I'll tell you what: how about you go down there and clear away the landslides and clear off the brush and scrub, and fix up the grade crossings. How about you invest your money, take care of the line, and appreciate it. And just what will be the "massive" social advantage, the economic gain, the strategic import of doing that? If there's not enough to get you to drop what you're doing and skedaddle down there to get it done, then you are talking through your hat. The rail line had a purpose,. it served it, it is no longer useful. The sentiment that a ribbon of steel is necessarily a "massive" asset is silly.
@vincent7520
@vincent7520 5 жыл бұрын
@@louisc.gasper7588 It may well be that the rail line could be useful to the local people… but they are not taken into account in the bigger scheme of things planned by the city people. That's what @A Freeman who started this thread is trying to say. And he's right. We have zillions of infrastructures that were built and poorly maintained as soon as money got invested elsewhere… and making local people poorer…

Jacques Blaque Autocorrect changed it, my apologies. Still, the weight of a typical locomotive would be much too heavy to travel on such a line. Maybe a Simplex or some other ex-war department locomotive might be okay, and I think Deucaville Davenport made some very light locomotives, but I can't imagine anything bigger than that working on this line.

Sorry but that's not a smart comment. Rails are bolted and or welded together. The labor alone is many times more in dollars than the return on the sale. That is of course if you could even find a buyer. In other words your far better off collecting aluminum cans and bottles or just about anything would pay many times more.

I know parts of your country can be dangerous, and I gather access to heavy machinery is an issue, but I can see tourists paying good money for a ride like that. Both for the fun of what the ride is, and seeing the countryside in its "natural" state; farmers, sheep and cows beside the tracks, the overgrown bits, and regular Columbians just going about their business. It looks like a lot of fun and if I could afford to, I'd gladly get you the equipment to clean up the line

Might not take much. Ther overgrowth is not very heavy; I mean there aren't any trees or even saplings growing between the rails. And the landslides didn't look to be very numerous, or very extensive, or very deep. The rails didn't seem to be heaved or broken. The real problem might be access to the rail head. And there's the issue of liability when the cow doesn't get out of the way in time.

@@tullibee The cart has a brake. And the operator knows how to use it. And you don’t go faster than you can stop the cart when you see a hazard.

Very very interesting ride. People living around there should form a group to run this track as a tourist attraction. Down hill ride and with refreshment along the way. This will keep people around there with work. Also maintenance work to the rail and weeding on the track.

There nobody cared if they passed by them or beside them on the cart, but here you would get shot going 10 feet beyond someone's property line.

Looks like everyone had fun on that ride. 😁 Here in the states guys use powered cars to explore abandoned railways and some RR's allow groups to use their mainlines with permission.
