Probably some of my favorite irons/wedges are the full Beryllium Copper Ping Eye 2’s 😍
@robertbogdan70584 жыл бұрын
Nice clubs. Ping made copper irons back in the day too. I remember having a Ping Eye 2 two iron in copper. One last comment...Rick, copper doesn't rust, it corrodes. Only iron rusts. Rust specifically refers to oxides on iron or iron alloys, such as steel. Oxidation of other metals has other names. There is tarnish on silver and verdigris on copper, for example. Now you can impress that PhD chemist you tee it up with. :^)
@mullholand2 жыл бұрын
Beryllium Copper irons.... the irons you don't kill - they kill you. Well... only if you breath in beryllium dust - which would be difficult to do. But yeah - it is really, really bad for you. I had a beryllium lob wedge and loved it.

I am an avid disc golfer (though not very good!), and I've been so inspired by your videos that I ordered my first starter clubs, due tomorrow. Mizuno is my first set of steel irons. Really like it. However, got a Ping driver which is amazing. Anyone compared Ping irons to Mizuno irons?
@PetSKi674 жыл бұрын
I’ve been with Mizuno since replaceing MacGregor Tourney 1025 VIP CM set with Mizuno MP-60, 3-PW. Being truly honest, the hashtag tells it all. I’ve went to demos since long and never found any stock clubs, that would have the same buttery feel as Mizunos. Titleists are hard as a rock, Callaway Prototypes were close, but the 1030 carbon steel was really hard, yet pretty nice. The others match pretty much Mizuno GI-clubs, but the top end in MP-inventory are at their own level with a decent gap in between. And the best part is, Mizuno is not that aggressive in sponsorship, but sell the same issues to customers as for the pros, not making them under the shelf from Miura san. Mizunos are made of the same 1025 steel as the Tourneys were. Never hit Hogan Apex blades, but I hear they are forged from 1025E and returned in the market with different strategy in selling. They don’t use middle men, but direct sell from the factory. The ICON blades are something, I’d love to try.

Don't know if anyone has said this yet but one of the bonuses to copper is that it doesn't rust. what it does is oxidises over time which creates the green looking layer which can be confused for rust, this actually protects the metal from further corrosion and should be able to be cleaned off easily enough. So you don't have to worry about them rusting they won't and as long as look after them I doubt the green layer will form very much either.

@jaybyrne45624 жыл бұрын
That's not what Mizuno said, when they made these, they said they used to do it years ago on older clubs, when they blind tested people, with clubs with copper underlay and ones without, almost everyone said they preferred the ones with. So now MP20s have copper under them. These were only made because people asked for them that way. Not trying to save money, it was customer request driven.
@Twyer244 жыл бұрын
Ur both right. They used to use the copper for adhesion and feel. And they went away from it for years and as a experiment they brought it back and blind tested and it was night and day for testers. And due to all the hype around the copper heads it almost forced them to bring out copper only heads. Soooo when demand is high. Make em pay! Cha ching.

Go to the local Electric supplies store and buy “de-ox” or “no-ox” it’s a clear/green grease like material, you should get a microfiber cloth and just barely coat each of the club heads with it. Rick, I hate to write this but the "standard" Mizuno irons, being forged, are Chrome plated. They do not have a stainless steel finish. As far as I know, the only forged SS irons were the very old Kenneth Smith irons from back in the 1960's and 70's.
