11:37 I had literally the same reaction to drug ads on American TV. First of all, drug advertising? Why???? Then there's the inevitably long list of side effects 😲 which we have to presume they're legally obliged to read out but... oh boy... half the time the side effects sound worse than the ailment the drug is meant to treat. I found the way that so many of them just casually include "the possibility of death" as a side effect to be equally alarming and amusing.
@anniescornavacca1472
@anniescornavacca1472 4 жыл бұрын
Lol. American here, so I can tell you... 1.) Why drug ads? Unrelenting capitalism & unrepentant greed. 2.) Yes, legally they must read that long list of side effects in the commercials. The FDA (Food & Drug Administration who oversees trials, approval, safety, etc.) requires that they report all side effects that occur over a certain threshold (more than x percent of patients) in the commercials & then an even more comprehensive list is included on the packet that you get with them. What country are you from? Are pharmaceutical companies not multi-billion dollar corporations where you are? Does your medical care not resemble a used car dealership with sleazy sales tactics, price gouging, & huge profit margins where the goal is to get you to spend as much money as possible? What's that like? Is it wonderful? I bet it's wonderful...

OMG, YES!!! I have seen some of this "new math" uploaded by dumbfounded parents and grandparents on FB. I cannot make heads nor tails of it, and I managed to drag my sorry butt through intermediate college algebra so I could graduate. But if you asked me today to factor some polynomials for you I wouldn't be able to do it. And I'd probably knock you on the head for asking!

Hey Simon, how about a video about oil/petrol addatives that are supposed to do wonders for engine performance and fuel efficiency? Probably not a huge thing in the EU/UK, but these kind of "cure all"/"patent medicines" have been all the rage for "car guys" who are less than mechanically intelligent, in the good ole' U.S of A. For going on 70 years. Oil and chemical companies decieving a gullible public. Love the channel and to see your personality come out outside of the podcast you do with Daven.

Funny thing about the donation sum from Bernard Arnault (you pronounced it correctly, by the way. I'm impressed and think there's still hope for you) for the Notre-Dame. So Bernard's rival, the owner of Kering Group (another fashion conglomerate) and incidentally Salma Hayek's husband, said he would donate 100 million euros for the repairs. THE VERY NEXT DAY Bernard Arnault announced that HE will donate 200 million euros for the repairs. This never stops being funny.

Simon, INTERESTING FACT about those wild pharmaceutical ads you've seen in America The reason they are REQUIRED BY LAW to list all those deadly side effects that you would think should negate any POSITIVE effects is that those ads (adverts) are for the "off-label" or non-recommended use of these drugs. All those drugs you see advertised were originally approved by the government for use FOR OTHER AILMENTS. The big tip-off is when the announcer (reader) says "Ask your doctor..." That is because doctors are prohibited to SUGGEST the use of drugs for their off-label use...but the "informed patient" can "ask" if there are drugs whose side-effects can be beneficial to their treatment. Now you know why Americans take so many pharmaceuticals prescribed by our doctors

Does Putin even require currency? Is there anyone in Russia, or the world for that matter, who would tell him no? He literally took Robert Kraft, the owner of The New England Patriots, Super Bowl ring and walked away with it. When Robert tried to follow him to say “Hey, give me that back!” Putin’s bodyguards stopped him and just said “Nyet”. Oh man, that would make a killer episode of Blaze, “That time Putin “won” a Super Bowl Ring”

Also, Bernard Arnault re localised his official residency in Belgium, just to avoid French taxes. He bought a multi million euros flat in Uccle (Brussels), but never step foot there. His fundation is in Belgium, and only 6 people are ALLEDGELY generating 400 million euros, which are not or almost not taxes.
