You kidding? They bought diffusions rights for World and european championships in countries where it was cheap and free for the viewers just to make few bucks by solding watch access. If you really want to save this sport you let the free broadcast in countries were the sport is unpopular

In her interview with China TV post match, Li WenWen explained the decision to give up her 3rd and 6th lifts were made with her coach. She said her recovery is not full yet, maybe 80 at best 90%. In her lifts her right hand can be seen shaking slightly. By her 2nd snatch she was 5kg ahead so they didn't want to risk anything. Although she won with her 1st C&J, they decided to do the 2nd one to be sure. In the end, they were ahead by 10kg and so again to avoid the risk of delaying her recovery, her coach told her to give up the last lift but to still go on stage to pay respect to her fans. This was why they just left the last lift at 174kg. Her sole objective was to win the gold again so with job done easily, her scream when she entered the back stage was "I can finally relax !"

Li Wenwen is absolutely dominant. I really look forward to see what she can do in the future. I just hope that someone emerges who can truly challenger her in order to bring out her best so that we can see her full potential.

There is. In China. An unknown (to the rest of the world) by the name of Sun YunJie. In the China national competitions, she lifts 140+kg in the snatch and twice challenged 188kg in the C&J but failed both times. But she will never show up in international competitions because Li WenWen is there. I look forward to the China national championship where they compete against each other.

I think the main thing you guys have done that has increased my interest tenfold, is showing us who these athletes really are. Allowing us to see behind the scenes and the personalities of each individual. I found myself rooting for athletes like I actually knew them! Best weightlifting channel out!

Thanks so much for the amazing coverage over the quad! Your videos brought me to this amazing sport!! Also, as a female fan it is so amazing that you value coverage of the women's event as much as the men's. There are so many great athletes and amazing stroies to tell and I feel that people often leave the women out of it. Thanks for telling their stories!

Li Wenwen is an incredible athlete and her dominance in this division is scarcely believable. She could definitely pick up two more Olympic golds if she stays injury-free. As a Brit, was very excited to see Emily Campbell clinch bronze and then go shit-or-bust with the 174 C&J attempt. Unfortunately, Emily's bronze came at the expense of a medal spot for Ayovi, who was an absolute joy to watch. Can't wait to see where the women's superheavyweight division goes next.

Today Tian Tao was commentating and he was so enthusiastic, cheering nervously for everyone, but when he saw Li Wenwen he was more relaxed. He just wanted her to lift 3~4 times in total without injury, just to ensure a gold. He really liked Ayovi's style and this match makes him excited and willing to prepare for another Olympics (if there is his group, which I don't think will happen). What a pity we only have him introducing the sport on TV once in 4 years. And another pity, many people still look down upon these women just because they don't look fit 😅

yeh great olympics. so sad for shi and meso not totalling. i think because shi didnt total the 73s were a little lack luster in big name drama. not to take anything away from the silver and bronze. shi not getting a total kinda knocked the steam out of the 73s excitement

This Olympic qualifying system is not fair at all. There are numerous signs but I reveal only one. Only Seven weight class out of 10 are in battle everytime. But +109 and +87 are the one that are included everytime. The rest to struggle with weight classes. This is not fair.

do people really follow weightlifting??!! i'm not. please explain why there are athletes limitation in olympic. there are 5 weight classes in weight lifting in olympic. the rule is that each nation can only send 3 men and 3 women to the Olympic...That is bs...China was like 5/6 for gold in this olympic. China can win more gold if there is no limitation. they could go like 8/10 golds if they have competitor in each weight class. There are no athletes limitation in track and field where ther are like 42 golds to claim. Also, will one day, Gigachad liu huanhua go up in weight against the bigger lasha talakhadze???

It's political. It's essential that USA finish top of the medal table. Track&field and swimming are 2 sports, where USA dominate, and so you're allowed 3 athletes per event (track) and 2 per event (swimming). Weightlifting is one where China outperform USA. China would have finished top of the medal table in Tokyo 2020 and Paris 2024 if they were allowed 1 lifter per category. There' s still talk that boxing and weightlifting will be removed from LA 2028. Boxing is another sport where China currently outperform the USA in the Olympics.

@@sportysport5835 It's actually a penalty for overusing roids in the past. There were even rumors that it won't be an Olympic sport in Paris if that doesn't change. I'm glad that this sport is cleaning and there are less and less doping scandals in the last few years and can't wait to see them competing again in LA.
