All the best to Bruce as he attempts the record. I would agree with the other posts that question why Steven Abraham and Kurt Searvogel weren't mentioned in this slick and well produced piece. In fact, barring unforseen circumstances, we are less than two days away from Tommy Godwin's record falling to Kurt. Let's not pretend that there aren't other epic riders out there who have done, and are doing, the same massive effort.

Would like to add that Steve Abraham didn't fly off to a sunny location, he just cycles out of Milton Keynes every morning and rides 200 miles, Sun, Rain, Wind or Snow (or broken leg) and he's 60,000 miles into it.

I'd like to have heard more respect from Bruce for Tommy Godwin's current record. It was set in 1939 on a 15kg bike and he rode through two harsh winters on crappy roads with minimal support. The equipment advantage here is massive - Godwin would have gone about 15000km further with this bike and kit. Nonetheless, it's a colossal challenge and very best of luck to Bruce.

Is a aeroad the best option for that? Wouldnt a more "comfortable" bike suit it better especially when riding that much? Now idk if the aeroad is comfortable or not, but from watching videos people say that aero bikes are uncomfortable

Step 1: Find a long steepish straightish descent. Step 2: Find 2 very dedicated drivers. Step 3: Drive the climb and do the descent again and again every day. 2 drivers because you should be exceeding the speed limit of the road. Thus finishing that distance assuming half of your time is in the car and half on the descent at 100km/h and you do this for 10 hrs a day you should finish in 240 days.

When commuting 42 miles daily from 2006-2012 there were a couple years where I went over 12,000 miles. Once my pickup sat so long the battery went dead. lol The terrain was rolling mostly w/a 450 ft elevation difference between work and home. The climb was on the way home. Sometimes, I'd do 100 mile fixed gear rides on Saturdays. People thought I was a little crazy and maybe I was, but THIS is completely insane. Much respect.
