Simon Pegg’s character is the most realistic portrayal of the guy who peaked in high school and became an alcoholic. This movie is sad low key

It really does nail how so many adults can never move on from their childhood, and end up wasting their lives because they can't deal with the responsibility of adulthood.

I like how you called the last drink "the last drink", because it really was. On top of the self harm bandages Gary also conspicuously didn't bring any luggage with him when the other 4 did. It's heavily implied that he was planning to kill himself once he finally finished the Golden Mile. This is easily my favourite of the Cornetto trilogy. It confronts issues that most filmmakers would actively run away from, nevermind make a comedy out of, and it's pulled off expertly.

Fun fact, in keeping with The Cornetto Trilogy's penchant for foreshadowing, there's a spoiler at the start of the movie. Every car in New Haven, minus Sam's and "The Beast", is a hybrid.

"The World's End"... or as we called it in the Navy, "LIBERTY CALL"! Each Bar's name was somehow Describing what was happening to the boys as the story kept going. Simon and Nick were in the "Cornetto Trilogy" (This Movie, Hot Fuzz and Shaun of the dead), but they also starred in a hilarious American Comedy, "Paul". ALL worth Reactions!

Think about it more like 12 bar drinks lol. Its not like drinking 12 cans of beer. More like drinking 24 cans of beer. In what would seemingly be like 12-14 hours. Thats pretty heavy, I think anyone would feel that the next day lolol.

I know what he means, it is like a trilogy of the main guy. The movies Hot Fuzz, Shawn of the Dead, and this movie. They are not related story-wise but they are the three movies that star these same two main actors. (theres actually another alien one as well with seth rogen)

Gary was a guy with severe alcoholism who ultimately recently tried to commit suicide. He desrves a little bit of compassion. Andy was just a true and loyal friend.

The compassion becomes lost on people, when you near kill your friend and leave him for dead.(Coming from a current alcoholic). Nobody is required to be compassionate or stick around for you. You gotta fix that shit for yourself and nobody else. Its really nice to have friends there for you who care and want to really help, but nobody is required too. Especially considering hte circumstances in this movie lolol.
