Love that you made this video. My brother bought one with 200 miles circa 2015 and i recently took ownership over it. We’ve only put around 3000 miles on it collectively throughout the years but it really hasn’t given us any issue. It’s an 07 with orange sealant engine number but i gotta double check to see what the sealant actually looks like. I remember within the first hundred miles we rerouted some of the lines that shot oil into the air box and never had to do anything else since other than 1 starter change. It is fairly tough to start cold tho. Once you learn the trick, it’s not so bad. It’s a rad ride and the sound cargoes it’s own character. I have it posted for sale and i almost feel bad about it now since we’ve owned it so long. Ours is mint and knowing it really hasn’t given us any issues other than cold start ups taking a couple mins makes me wanna keep it even longer as an art piece.

@@Lookas_ well it depends on how the bike is setup when you buy it. If you go up one tooth in the front sprocket it will be able to cruise at pretty high speeds with no problem. The big thing is you will need the larger tank if your going over 70 miles between stops. The last thing that would really help is a nice squishy seat lol. 2000 km's doesn't mean anything, it should be torn apart anyway. You can get it if you know a mechanic that knows this bike, not just a dude that knows bikes, but this bike specifically. Just asking, but why would you never take it on a Long ride?
@p20dirtrider2 жыл бұрын
I mean long can be interpreted in many ways but for example I take a couple trips up to the mountains every year and do about 200-300 miles over a weekend. That to me is a long ride and not ideal for this bike because of the amount of fuel it holds lol but I wouldn't want to ride anything else.

Do you recommend this bike as a daily??
@p20dirtrider2 жыл бұрын
So I would not recommend it as a daily commuter. It's not because the bike is incapable of being reliable. It's more due to the nature of the current parts available for it. They are becoming hard to find. Also if it's stop and go traffic your bikes going to be getting very hot and that's not good for it. With that said I ride my bike almost every weekend and have put about 1000 miles on it with basically no issues at all.

So what I used was a 2inch size (I think) pvc pipe. I capped both ends. On the bottom there is a wing nut with a drain just in case and then I drilled a hole on the side threaded a nipple in to add a breather. The Red Bull can is just a cover lol

Amazing bike that's old with new looks! I'm contemplating a sxv450 as there is nothing here in Australia and when they pop up they go fast! It has 9000 klms and had a starter just done and fixed low compression on the rear head. Not sure if the orange seal has been done yet though waiting to hear from the seller. Sounds A1 mechanically so we will see. It's a 2006 but so rare I need it even if a rebuild is needed down the track as it will be like a Katana or gpz750 turbo in the future with rarity. Any advice what to look for in buying one? Cheers!
@p20dirtrider3 жыл бұрын
Honestly just like your saying they are becoming so rare and the future of high-power lightweight supermoto looks very dim. Just think in the last 10 years nothing has come close. I just got to ride a husky 701,don't get me wrong it's a beautiful bike but performance wise it's not even a comparison. Ask the guy if it's had a proper tune done and look at the engine case seam for sealant type. Check the oil in the sight tube after a good ten minute ride to make sure the level is close to the max line. If it looks taken care of and never wrecked I would buy it.

So... I recently found one, & am thinking about pulling the trigger on it & buying it.. BUT, it's already up there in miles at 12k+.... With that many miles I figure I can assume the orange sealant & starter issues have been sorted, among other things... My main question though... is at some point I assume the engine is just going to need replacing, like the block itself.... Is there any way to replace it if that's ever the case? And from what I understand, it basically needs a full rebuild roughly every 5k miles... AANY IDEA what I can expect that to run... like ballpark? I FULLY EXPECT the bike to cost more to own than it will to actually buy it, but I think if I can figure out how to either keep the engine from needing a full replacement, through regular maintainence & rebuilds at intervals... I'd be interested to know if it'd even be possible to keep it running upto & beyond 35..40k... Thanks for making the video, & doubly so if you take the time to respond Cheers
@p20dirtrider3 жыл бұрын
So if you get it rebuilt right from the start by a known professional (Alan Noland) or Amuri in California. Then you should be able to make it 10-14000 depending upon what type of riding you will be doing. Honestly I use my bike for weekend joy rides here and there. I try not to put miles on it because of how rare they are. In any case parts are come and go. Sometimes you can find full engines and parts and other times your waiting months.
