Its a PU as Toby said. but the way you said it reminds me of Scratch sessions. I posted a comment earlier mentioning how the black hole that holds Earth C 1 and 2 could be the Dark World, and C1 and C2 are essentially about to take a sburb session, except the meat one has it scratch. If this winds up being a paralell then what you just said is a scratch session, where Deltarune would take place with the ancestors years after undertale.

One important thing to note is that the creators of Homestuck and Undertale, Andrew Hussie and Toby Fox, lived together during the creation of both works. Not only is it plausible that their stories influenced each other, it would be downright odd if they didn't. Deltarune part one already had more Homestuck references than all of Undertale so for all we know John, "I am not a homosexual," Egbert might just show up and say high.

I just had a thought... What if we don't see the changes in Lancer, like becoming more of a bad guy, but what if we see the changes in Ralsei? Ralsei slowly yearning for power, slowly realising that Heroes are people who conquer worlds or something? He seems to be the one who is more likely to stay with the Fun Gang throughout the whole game. Besides, he's said to be the "Prince Of Darkness". And going with your theory with Noelle, she could become the real third hero in the end, taking Ralsei's place? idk, but seeing how Ralsei is kind of the opposite of Flowey, I could see Ralsei's story to end up being the opposite of him. Like how Flowey was a bad guy who became the hero in the end, while Ralsei was a good guy who became the villain? I mean, Lancer did once say that he and Ralsei could swap roles (Ralsei becomes a bad guy, while Lancer becomes a good guy) and when Lancer said that to Ralsei and Kris "Are you sure you're not a bad guy?", or around the lines of that, Ralsei said "No, but I guess we have a knack for it"

I feel like chara is probably a hope player gone wrong, they didnt mean for everything to go awry but because of their accidental actions, hope was destroyed, so i think theyre probably a bard. Alternatively i think frisk is an heir of hope, since they embody hope for the underground, either as a sacrifice, a saviour, or as the vessel for hope to act through them, saving the underground by bringing asriel back to his senses to destroy the veil together. Asriel then would make sense to be an heir of time, given that he embodies the end of the game, the completion of the game’s pacifist route is impossible without asriel to be there to end the game, asriel embodies the end of both routes, seeing as hes always guiding frisk, and was the reason the story began entirely. So, anyone else think this makes sense?

I must say, I'm not all too cool with you associating a Dreemurr with the biggest brat of paradox space. I'm still of the belief that Chara's a good kid, that just really hated humanity. hell, they sacrificed themselves to give monsterkind their freedom back! it failed, but still, the only reason why they even act textbook evil in the Genocide route is because of YOU corrupting them. at least that's my interpretation CALIBORN, on the other hand, is objectively terrible and evil. selfish, mean, aggressive... irredeemable, in the end. it's like comparing a rosebud with a fucking rock. The rose's thorns stings, and the bud hasn't bloomed yet, but you know it's something pretty. whereas the rock is only good to crack skulls with. apart from that, interesting video. This is a good point I kinda glossed over. For clarity's sake, I distinguish the Chara, The Demon and Chara, the Fallen Child as somewhat different characters. The Demon is one iteration of who Chara *could* become, but whether or not they do depends on the Player's choices in Undertale. I view them as the narrator, and the way the narrator/speaking voice of Undertale interacts with Frisk/The Player is different in each path! In this respect, I view Chara's development as indicative of the players' as much as Frisks'. Like the kid, they're just a kid, after all--the Demon credits the player with having taught them to reason for their existence. They learned to be the demon from US. That evil isn't necessarily innate to Chara--it's learned. Which is exactly why I find Kris so interesting. I was coming in here to say, there's really two "Charas" in Undertale: the kid who existed in the past who has the name the player gave, and the entity you meet at the end of Genocide, who explicitly describes themself as a combination of that kid and the player's "Human SOUL" and "Determination" - in other words, a combination of a dead kid and the player's choices. It's actually the same way you described Lord English in your last Homestuck video: multiple personalities merged together but dominated by one will. Lord English runs on Caliborn's will, but "the demon" runs on the *player's*, but then takes on a life of its own within the story if the player chooses to follow Genocide to its utmost. So really, *we're* Caliborn, is what I'm saying.

I still think DR Chara is at least related to UT Chara. I believe this because of the one thing Chara (In the genocide route) is known for is the Knife, which we see Kris manifest once possessed by Chara. I also want to note that Chara in UT is determined by a player's LOVE. She acts as the narrarator in UT's battles, in Genocide, Neutral, or Pacifist. She's not bad until you (the player) make her bad. It's not a Sequel or a Prequel, it's another world. But your sins tend to latch onto your back, eh?

I have to agree with most, except that Chara truly sees the people as playthings and strifes for power. Chara is a hurt child that watched the play/Frisk, kill everyone Chara loved, only interfering at the end, and only killing Asriel in that gruesome way after the player made the first strike. I think Chara just wants to make the player take responsibility for their actions more than anything else. So, I can't fully agree on that. Chara probably also only sees themselves as a demon because humans have taken everything from them, so they don't want to be that but also can't call themselves a monster because they feel like they aren't worthy, still guilting themselves for the death of their "brother" Asriel.

Anyway, I don't know about a lot of the details you're using as part of your logic here, but your central argument is compelling. The idea that there are two universes that influence each other, humans-and-trolls-style, and that the end goal of whatever is going on with Kris is ""Chara"" wanting to sink their teeth into more story-meat and consume it, makes sense to me. But let me just spew some Chara thoughts of my own since this is my comment. As I mentioned in a different thread, there are really two "Charas" in Undertale: Asriel's dead adopted sibling in the backstory, and the extension of the player's will into the world who either relinquishes control over to Frisk, the living in-universe kid, or becomes the demon puppeteering their body into destroying the world. The latter is a different being because it is influenced by the player's will and desire: it only becomes a demon if and when the player wills it, and otherwise this "Chara" fades away into memory, only to live on within us and reemerge when we play Call of Duty or something. Now, consider Kris's situation in Deltarune. They are Asriel's sibling, and to all appearances an entirely normal human kid in an unusual situation with a great deal of emotional difficulties that are touched on and not fully explored so far...pretty much the same as the Chara of Undertale's backstory, right down to the morbid sense of humor. Then we, the players, are shown as a distinct entity who takes control away from Kris, although *our* choices don't matter either, as the game so far concludes the same way regardless of our choices, barring a few details. Kris's will is suppressed by ours, but we don't have much of a will ourselves. Then at the very end, we see Kris physically and violently reject the representation of *our* will (the red SOUL) and only then take on the distinctive physical affect of the Demon Chara. I have...no idea what this means, but I do think it's significant that the Demon Chara's will was one with our own until (optionally) the last five seconds of the Genocide route, and then they took over control of our "SOUL" if we ever wanted to replay the game. And meanwhile, when the Demon appears to show up in Deltarune, they start off by throwing our ability to control our "vessel" away first thing. It's interesting. Very, very interesting.

Chara is more or less and extension of the players will by the time they resurrect. Chara is close to being the Gamzee to the player's Lord English, considering Chara only ever acts through our will and at our command and wouldn't even be alive without our influence bringing them back. Not the mention The Player is considered an actual force/ character in Undertale, also known as "The Anomaly", and holds absolute control over the timeline(s) and inevitability and can even travel through Universes. And, you know, is, without exception, always ALREADY HERE. Overall the strongest oppresive force in Undertale and Deltarune is the player exerting their will over the universes. Especially a hostile, genocidal /omnicidal player, who more or less acts exactly like Caliborn in that they murder fucking everything they can.

@Oxymoron see I'd *heavily* disagree with this, I would agree the closet thing Undertale has to a real villain is the Player themselves and their will to kill everything in the world, but one of the souls you're deciding about, despite their current soulless ghost state, is Chara themselves. From what we know Chara was a deeply unhappy child who didn't have time to develop healthy tools to deal with their trauma before they died. And then shattered their soul in everything that went down with Asriel, to knock themselves into unbeing until Frisk woke them up. And we see in the various playthroughs, with how Chara acts as narrator, that they are protective of Frisk, helpful, and humorous until the Player pushes them to a point that they internalize their worst pessimism. And then the *player* is the one up bring them past even that when they kill Asriel, revealing the player just saw this as a game when Chara at least thought they were burning it all to the ground out of a feeling of Rightness. Chara is a little kid who needed therapy, and instead just got some years with a family who loved them and were helping, but the tragedy is that tragedy stopped them and Asriel from being helped more.

The reason why I made the Gamzee comparison is for a different reason though, in Homestuck, Gamzee and by extention the entire purpleblood caste, is constantly being manipulated by Lord English through the Murder Clown Religion on Alternia, Caliborn/ Lord English could very well use his powers to help and improve people, but beause Caliborn is a Psycopathic, Omnicidal, Insuffereable and Meticulous brat, he uses his power as the LORD OF TIME to oppress and spread as much destruction, mayham and suffering as he can, often through others who are forced to enact his will, simelar to the Player in Genocide run forcing their will of death upon everyone and everything they encounter and empowers those who serve them with their bloodlust (in this case Chara). The Player is the supreme, indestructible, abstract Outer God of the Undertale/ Deltarune verse, even Hypergod of Death Asriel was unable to truly defeat Frisk when they were empowered by the player, Chara in Genocide run can only kill a possessed body, not the actual Player Entity, but a medium and they can't prevent us from comming back if we want too. Overpowering the Player's is IMPOSSIBLE, it's only possible to briefly act against the Player's influence through it's possession victims (I.E Frisk, Kris), and even then, it's nothing important, the Player, always, unconditionally, gets their way, as the games cannot progess unless the Player is willing to let things happen and anything the Player don't like... Gets retroactively erased and undone. Even Frisk, the MOST POWERFUL wielder of Determination in the entire franchise, is completely helpless against the player's control. Chara is just hijacking that power as a result of being in servitude to the Player's bloodlust, as seen with true resets, Chara holds no power unless you give it to them.

5:30 The way I personally justify Sans being both a darkner and in the light world is that his light world "object" was/is a skeleton, likely a classroom one (in part given how important the school to the darkners, and also it helping to explain his physical frailty, as he'd likely be made out of some form of plastic or other material that couldn't withstand physical damage) that was injected with determination and possibly other soul traits (which explains his strength and ability to exist in the light world.) Papyrus, on the other hand, is more confusing, though he instead be an attempt to create an artificial monster rather than a light-world darkner. Whatever the case, it's likely that their true nature is the reason Toby is so hesitant to show us Papyrus in deltarune. Or he's trolling us. Or he's trolling us by not ultimately trolling us. Fun fact: one of the tracks for Homestuck (it's in album five) seems to serve as a prototype of the musical track used in DR chapter 1 when Ralsei is relating "The Legend". The track in question? "Lotus Land Story". And the track was _also_ made by Toby Fox himself. And given your aware of Greek Mythos, your mind probably just jumped to the good old "Land of the Lotus Eaters" story, from the Illiad/Odyssey. Seriously, I'm surprised nobody else has picked up on this and been talking about it. Not to mention, there's _another_ track by Toby in album five, simply called "Lotus", which serves as a baseline for one or two of the major leitmotifs we see scattered most commonly across Undertale. Dude's been working on stuff leading up to UT and DR for _years_ now.

My favorite theory by far, althougth i also kinda believe the "we are the soul, we are not kris" theory and the "no war" theory (not completely). However, i think you missed on something, Gaster is most definitely evil. I do realize this fact is not mutually exclusive with anything you say, however, if you think about the implications of this. (Obviously there is an extremely high chance i am wrong) FIrst of all, why do most of gaster related stuff is also related to demons, from jevil to the mark of the beast. however, althougth, gaster will thus seem to be a representation of "the beast" i am doubtful. Lets imagine 3 worlds, a, b and c, or for the sake of thematic coherence, Unrelated, Deltarune and Undertale. * Unrelated: in a world that mostly resembles that of Undertale, a renowned scientist, a bringer of ligth, muse even (inspiring others to take a bite of the fruit that is knowledge) , Asterisk, OBSESSED with learning are there is to delves into KNOWlEDGE he shouldn't, somehow becoming a DARK ONE, in the process gaining followers of (now) voidy nature, however this somehow also resets the universe and splits Asterisk itself. * Deltarune: Upon its narrative start, a skeleton named sans brings out of the blue, his favorite restaurant. In this world, there was never a war between humans and monsters, therefore Gerson is instead a writer mostly inspired by his DREAMS, althougth he never wielded one in battle, his tombstone is still identified with a hammer. A few other people claim to be warriors. Kris, a ligthner, therefore bringer of ligth falls into the dark world (alongside with susie, also from the ligth world), there, a DARK PRINCE of name Ralsei is met. Kris seems to be empty and missing something, at the begining of the narrative becoming filled with a soul unable to make real choices (note determination is actually never mentioned). By the end of act one what seems to be chara (CHARActer bluh bluh). * Undertale: A soul is present in the body of Frisk fully able to make choices of its own and defining the personality of frisk unless the choice is killing all that is. A certain being of name Asriel/Flowey mirrors the theme of wanting to see all there is in a game and power gaming. if Gaster and other "angels" relate to lucifer in any way how are they influencing us if our choices don't matter at all. FIrst of all there is an underlying contrast between Gaster and Toby's vision of the game, seemingly, gaster acts as wanting to show us something, At the begining of the game giving us a "survey" and asking us to accept all that happens. After the survey the letters become lower case indicating its probabbly someone else speaking the words "your choices don't matter", also if you figth the optional boss jevil, a game over screen will appear saying the world is in our hands now with a manner of speech reminescent of Gaster, there is also stuff like the "easter egg" we get from a tree. While Toby tells us to just enjoy the game and to not indigate.

I had this theory that Deltarune is a world where Chara and Asriel’s plan to free the monsters worked. Because if it did, it would result in the Monsters on the surface, no war (because no one really died besides Chara), future generations not meeting each other or living the same lives (Undyne and Alphys, or Bratty and Catty), and Asriel surviving. Plus different lives on the surface may change different events. Gerson tells you in Undertale how Monsters age with with children and don’t if they die. But, Gerson is dead in Delarune. Could this be some sort of symbolism for “new rules, old rules don’t matter?” Or is it something unrelated? Anyway I believe this is a pretty possible theory. owo

codebracker Chara and Asriel’s souls fused after Gaster’s death, that’s one thing I’m sure of. So yes, Asriel would be some sort of god, if it didn’t release the human souls to destroy the barrier (like in the Undertale Pacifist route how Asriel must return the souls to set them free). Asriel would release Chara’s soul as well as the other humans and then return to a normal monster life (leaving Chara’s soul to find a new body since their determination will deny them the ability to pass on, therefore resulting in a bit of a Kris possession). Also I meant Gerson’s death being some sort of symbolism for the new rules of this new universe. As for the skeletons, it depends on which theory you truly believe in I guess. If you are a fan of the story where they were Gaster’s creation, or that they are bits of Gaster, or that they are the sons of Gaster, then they could apply in this universe. I'm not sold on the idea that the Queen that Jevil mentions is the Queen of Spades. The context that she's mentioned with seems to associate her with the unseen Knight that's the true threat to the balance between the light and dark worlds, the one who opened the second dark fountain. The Knight seems to be from outside and above the normal power structures of the card court or even the chess pieces, and I have the feeling that this Queen is the next level up past the Knight.

I think that Kris is something like a fusion of Chara and Frisk. They’re still one person, but I believe, that when Deltarune ends, they’ll split in half to make Chara and Frisk when traveling to Undertale’s world. Maybe it’ll be like a sort of self-sacrifice thing, where in order to travel into a better world Kris will need to lead two lives. One where they makes stride to improve the world into something better, but then fail, and the one after that, where they can succeed and live a better life. For this to work, the first life would need to have Kris’ more negative traits, (reluctance, fear (which isn’t necessarily a bad trait, it’s just that it detracts from Kris’ heroism), pessimism, etc) and the second life would need their positive traits. (Kindness, flirting, heroism, optimism, etc) I think this also explains why Kris seems very nuetral. Yes, Frisk seems nuetral, but that’s only because they’re kind of like a blank slate for you to use for whatever route you choose. Kris doesn’t give you the option to do a genocide route or even give you many options at all. There are smaller options, like the option to eat moss in a cell with no food, but overall, Kris is just going through the story as it is without making any truly bold choices to change the path of “fate.” So Chara is the first life, and they shoulder the negativity, fear, and faliure, which leads them down one path, with you not having any real affect (for the duration of their backstory) on the life; While Frisk can take on the positivity, and embraces you, the player, as guidance for whatever choices may be best for the future of the world. Wether or not they succeed is up in the air, because now they have options to choose for themself what’s really success. Anyway. This video is great and i think you did a great job!

Also the idea of Chara being some kind of demon is totally something I agree with, but I'm not sure how to tie it into my own theory, so I didn't mention it in my comment. Think everything's gonna play out like I said but also like how you said. I don't know how Chara being a demon but also Kris being their own person who splits in half with one half being that demon but also their own person would be explained in the story, (at least, in a way that makes sense) but if there's anyone who can pull it off, is Toby Fox. (Please excuse me if any of this doesn't make sense. This is a theory I've had floating around in my head for a while now, and I'm writing it down for the first time completely on a whim.)

the previous two videos were very interesting and I agreed with a lot of what's in them, but this one bugs me a little because it seems to take as a given that chara is evil. maybe it's a personal thing, but I agree more with the perspective that chara is not evil, just reacting to the world as they see it existing, portraying themself as a demon at the end of the kill-all run because that's what they feel they have become. I believe that chara is present in every possible run of undertale, but I don't think that they're a demon in all of them. I honestly think that kris is an au version of chara, in some way. their incredibly similar appearances and the fact that kris is also a child adopted by asriel's family are my main pieces of evidence, but with the very last scene of deltarune on top - the imagery is unmistakable. I think that if kris effectively /is/ chara, then their story only makes sense if you don't read chara as a demon and instead read chara as a child who feels isolated and ostracized by their community, and who lashes out accordingly. a lot like susie, actually

For Deltarune the closest thing to parallel worlds are the multiple save files. Something tells me that in order to trigger something in the full game's release; various different choices have to be made for each file.

i suspect that kris is the version of chara who is native to the deltarune timeline. you see hints of chara’s personality in them, such as the dejected attitude, mean pranks, & love for chocolate. but instead of being bombarded with unimaginable fantasy violence at every point as chara was, kris just has to deal with normal people trauma. maybe this fact has caused them to grow into a more empathetic, heroic figure than their undertale counterpart. speaking of hs, kris & chara share the red heart aspect. in homestuck, the heart aspect deals with the splintered nature of one’s self-existence. this can manifest in characters repeatedly confronting the parts of themselves they don’t like. so maybe kris’s ultimate task will be confronting their evil doppelgänger from another timeline? who knows!

I have recently been looking back at an old comic from the 70s my mom read to me while I was a kid and noticing not only how ahead of there time these comics are still to this day but also a few similarities between it and Homestuck. The comic im refuring to is elf Quest and honestly it feels like something that would be written not this year but like next year in the sense that it feels like a kind of evolution of the kind of story telling we have now but it was first launched in the 70s. And the similarities I have noticed between Homestuck and elf Quest are thus far , they both have alien races who take on the names of fantasy races ie trolls and chrubs for Homestuck and elfs, trolls and fairy's, they both begin with our heroes being thrust into a world there unfamiliar with because of the flaming destruction of there homes in Homestucks case it was the end of earth but in elf Quests case it was the burning of the wolf riders forest, they both have viper cunt villaneses who are some of the most dangerous fows they face who are also tall lean and clad in black with great hair in the case of Homestuck it's the empress in the case of elf Quest it's winnowil, the both have mythological level ancestors, both have there first big antagonists be manstorus hybrids of evil and hate formed by magic and nature itself that then run a muck and cause the deaths of a countless number of cheractors in the case of Homestuck it's wolf Jack niore and in elf Quests it's mad coil, and both of these babies are eventually responsible for the deaths of the main cheractors parents or parental figure in Homestucks case it's John's dad Rose's mom and Dave's bro and in elf Quests it's the death of both of cutters parents Joy Leif and bear claw, both have alien species with tellapathic abilities with the elf's inharantly all having this ability, both have amazingly lager castes of charactors and both have a interest in the connections between our main characters and there animals with the wolf riders being part wolf along side the elf's of blue mountain raideing birds and there being underwater elfs I can probably name even more interesting simmilarites and connection between the two if given time.

I personally don't believe Chara is connected to Kris. I'm with MatPat, in that when Kris rips out the player's soul, it's just them rejecting the player and their control. Whether or not the removal of our control is permanent is neither here nor there, but as for when they pulled out the knife, I think it's just them going to get some pie. Before the player gained control, Kris was actually a pretty weird kid, which you find out by talking to people around town - they'd make Noelle and others think they were bleeding by pouring ketchup on themselves, and also eat entire pies made by Toriel on their own. That being said, I'm always a fan of your theories and explanation videos, Duelist. You've helped me understand a lot of Homestuck that just flew over my head when I read it the first time around. :)
