A compilation of most of the major ways Homestuck influenced--or at least, is resonant with--Undertale. Some of these are well known, some are only known in Homestuck circles, and some I've never heard anyone but me voice!

I was kinda hoping you'd mention how Alphys and Mettaton sorta mirror Equius and Aradia. Alphys/ Equius built a robot body for their ghost kinda-friend Mettaton/Aradia. Both of them allow selfish concerns to get the better of them: Alphys doesn't want to finish Mettaton EX because she's afraid he'll abandon her as soon as he doesn't need her, and Equius tries to program Aradiabot to have feelings for him. Heck, there's even a log entry in the True Lab where Alphys mentions she gets "really sweaty" trying to work on Mettaton EX, which seems like an intentional Equius reference.

here is something interesting in the video you (optimistic Duelist) said that davepettasprite was the only character that could pull off "determination" but there is one other character that in theory could pull it off lord english here is how lord engish is part gamzee (rage) part caliborn (time) and part Arquiusprite who is part Equius (void) and part lil hal . lil hal is important since lil hal is based on dirk to a high degree since it seem to be made from a brain in a jar (like dave's) and dirks sunglasses it would be likely in homestuck's rpg format lil hal is still a prince of heart. so lord english does have that time heart combo for dt

Something small that I noticed about Davepeta sprite is that their heart/soul sprite glows orange and green. These represent Bravery and Kindness in Undertale, which are certainly adjectives that describe Dave and Nepeta.

Caliborn is part of Lord English. All of Lord English's actions are those of Caliborn,Equius,Gamzee and Lil' Hal technically. I don't want to get into detail because I honestly put no thought into this really but pretty much everything that goes wrong (or horribly right) is due to the actions of Lord English or one of the characters who make up Lord English.

the thing that tipped me off to how waterfall was similar to LOWAS was the rocks shining in the ceiling, which the underground folks treated as stars. LOWAS also had false stars in the form of the fireflies that were trapped beneath the clouds.

Man, i never realized how many little things i missed in undertale! The knights thing blew my mind. Another thing about the Ruin/Derse connection, while Ruins "twin" New Home is mostly grey, the Final corridor and Throne room (the only inside bits of New Home you get to see) have a quite distinct golden color! Also, some people think that the Yellow hearts' part of "Your best nightmare" (aka JUSTICE) have some similarities to Terezi's Theme. Which, if you ask me, is adorable.

Because yeah, I noticed that afterwards--in my interest in keeping things snappy, I've been a little overzealous with the audio editing, which I'll keep an eye out in the future. Thanks for pointing it out to me! I hadn't considered Asgore's trident, actually! I'll keep it in mind in case enough connections are ever noticed to warrant a part 2 of some kind in the future--it's possible.

I flipped out the other day when I realized that the colors the fandom put to the ghosts/dummies in Undertale (shy dummy=bright green, napstablook=cyan, angry dummy=orange and mettaton=pink) are the same colors as the alpha kids. Coincidence? I think not

One more thing about Another Medium though, believe it or not. Another Medium is a remix of Toby Fox's unused song Patient, which in itself is a remix of Doctor (apparently it's also a staff requirement to remix Doctor if you made music for Homestuck.)

This might be kind of reaching it, but something i thought of with the song "another medium" maybe undertale could be a sort of real life version of sburb? like, the game itself. if we take the title of that song as in the underground being some kind of medium, then this would make sense. Undertale does go meta A LOT and the characters seem to breach the wall of just being a game and sort of being knowledgable about everything being a game, such as with asriel with save states. Not only that but maybe asgore could represent a denizen too, considering that you need the boss soul to escape the underground like how in sburb you get the required grist to get the egg to create the universe frog by killing the denizen. My last point i want to point out is that like the personalized lands in sburb, the quest(s) in undertale really act as a way to grow as a person just like how the quests on those planets serve that purpose too. Maybe thats a bit too far of a stretch because most of the time stories need to be that way in order to be interesting, but a lot of undertale is making friends and bridging gaps between people especially in the pacifist ending. It makes me wonder though, what if you go on a genocide route in an sburb planet?

I think that's a valid question, though! Part of what I like about Undertale and Homestuck is these bizzare metatextual philosophical questions they both bring up between the player/reader and the game/comic. I don't know if that's the conclusion the game suggests, though. Frisk falling into the hole actually isn't our decision, it happens in a cutscene. The game seems to suggest Frisk was depressed and unhappy before the start of the game, and we/the Player come to Frisk only once they fall down the hole of their own volition, whatever their volition was informed by. Our actions, then, simply shape how Frisk responds to their enviroment and deals with whatever brought them to the mountain in the first place. Whether the outcome is tragic or transcendent is up to us.

They did cuddle, a lot, like Karkat makes a joke about it here: (www.homestuck.com/story/7460), and here Terezi and V A S K A talk about davekat, but they couldn't pin down a quadrant, (www.homestuck.com/story/7500), also here Dave has a feelings jam and when John asks if he's "gay now" he kind of goes on a tangent (www.homestuck.com/story/7487) then John ends it wondering if Dave/Karkat are a thing, also the first time we see Karkat smile in cannon is while running and holding hands with Dave (www.homestuck.com/story/7449). Not to mention when Davesprite becomes Davepeta, they don't feel conflicted on romantic feelings to the crab, (www.homestuck.com/story/7898). I mean I guess. I just assumed Dave rambling about "being gay now", was him and the mayor. And that what ever quadrant stuff they had, were just friends, never more. (Like they never said it was one of the trolls romance quadrants.) Plus Davepeta would still make sense if they never dated. In that, Dave liked Karkat as a friend, Nepeta just made that stronger. (Conflict would only happen if one hated Karkat.) Or she just got over him after three years. It was never explicitly stated, so I didn't miss anything. Guess I just interpreted it differently.

I don't mean to insult you, I just kind of want to debate, because I find debate fun, so at the mention of quadrants, it's actually implied that Karkat really doesn't do quadrants, like with Terezi, were he described himself as "wanting her in every quadrant" and it's important to note that his ancestor was implied to have a relationship "transcending quadrants" with the Disciple. This honestly makes Dave and Karkat's relationship even better, because Karkat didn't give a shit about dating a boy, and Dave didn't give a shit about quadrants, which is something they both needed, someone to not give a shit if they didn't give a shit about fitting in boxes. And with Davepeta, liking someone as friend is not a less intense version of liking someone romantically, but completely different type of love. So if Dave loved Karkat as a friend, their should be conflict in them between liking Karkat as a friend and liking him romantically, and I really can't see Nepeta getting over Karkat, because she was kind of just a head, but I don't know enough about how consciousness works with sprites and stuff. But I can see how someone thinks of Davkat as close friends, I just find their relationship to be really personal to me and I can relate to both of them hardcore.

Mate, I love debate. Though it's been a little while since I read homestuck, and there's a lot of random information, so I don't remember everything. I'm not sure what the transcending quadrants has much to do with anything. Though I would guess it just means human romance really. (Since humans never used or cared about quadrants to begin with.) And no, I didn't mean liking someone as a friend is just a lesser felling of romantic love, but that if both feeling exists, they don't conflict, rather mix/intermingle. If you both liked someone as a friend and wanted to date them, you would personally just see it as a crush. With duel sprites, only topics with differ completely in opinion cause internal dispute.

If you stick around for the rest of my videos and writing, it'll be made clear why I disagree. Homestuck's ending is built on themes it starts setting up in Act 1, and that filters into everything about how it executes imo! I'm a big fan, personally.

Here is my theory about the undertale routes: First is Neutral, Because the humans falls, knows none of the monsters, doesnt insist to kill them OR Spare them, the human moves on. Later is Genocide: the human falls back down AGAIN, and more angryer to be down in the monster realm, finding a weapon (the knife) and making all monsters dead. Last is pacifist: the human falls down for the last time, this time more calm. The monsters were revived and THEN The monsters didnt trust the human in pacifist, so they tried to kill the human. But the human finnaly spared all the monsters, then they have a happy ending, And thats my theory! So the routes in order in my theory is "Neutral, Genocide, and last but not least the happy ending: Pacifist!" Please support this theory it took me to think alot about this stuff!
