There's nothing wrong with making a self insert in my opinion, but making them flawless is not a sign of strong writing. Like at least make one flaw for your character to overcome.

As someone who stopped reading this fic after the fifth chapter, I REALLY appreciate you taking the time to do this. I assumed it was going to basically be a straight adaptation of the fic with his OCs inserted in and yeah... with a few exceptions that's basically what it is. For me, one of the funniest takeaways from this is that none of his chapters managed to break a 5/10 or higher. Somehow I feel this trend is going to continue for the rest of the fic, I would be very surprised if any of his chapters break that middle threshold. Secondly, another funny takeaway was the fact that he skipped over "Hop-popular" despite that not being a filler episode, and as you pointed out its plot was pretty important for season one of Amphibia, and the whole reason that Sasha was even doing this whole scheme. Finally, the "chicken beak" comment had me laughing. Oh my god I replayed that moment so many times, the kiss looks so weird and unnatural and just....uggghh! Great Job! Love what you have so far! Also, you have some great taste in Video Game music!

The voices you made to imitate the characters were interesting. The corny voices do fit the corny dialogue well. A long time ago, I would’ve made a couple defense rants and say that the story was great, but now, I find the story just decent at best and the only defense I’d really make is that some of Cronaxx’s quotes weren’t that bad in my opinion. Last thing, if you do plan in reading his sequel, Sorcerer’s of Signal Hill, which is unlikely, just know that he fixed the whole “New Speaker, New Line” problem.

The bit with Anne’s mom punishing Darrel is so weird cause like, even though only season one was out at the time and Mrs Boonchuey only had one offscreen speaking appearance in a flashback, and there’s it’s only kinda implied she sorta strict with Anne, most rational people would at least blame both Darrel and Sasha, cause he told her Sasha dine and dashed on him and Anne’s mom would definitely be able to contact her and her parents so like what’s the deal? (Unless it was done so the whole “Anne tends Darrel’s knife wound by holding his hand” scene could happen😔)

(Infodump Incoming) Clipper pukes up the milkweed and encourages Darrel to eat it, Toothless regurgitates part of a fish and encourages Hiccup to eat it (Both of which, I assume, they do begrudgingly and with a bit of disgust. I haven't read that fanfic, so I don't know). The drawing of Darrel holding his hand out to Clipper is very reminiscent of when Hiccup did the same, that's the confirmation of their bond. Here's where I reach a little: The first ride with Clipper, where Darrel falls into the water. Albeit with different context, Hiccup also falls into the water the first time he rides Toothless. The rides with Anne feel like a rehash of Hiccup's rides with Astrid (Hiccup's love interest), those rides with Astrid develop and progress their relationship. Those are the similarities that were obvious, I might follow-up if I remember anything else. The deliveries were the only real difference I noticed, but even then, Hiccup and Toothless also helped their village. Just thought I should chime in, since that was the chapter you complimented for being original. Sorry for the essay, bro. Much love :)

I just know him as the guy who failed at making a Loud House x Far Cry 3 crossover fanfiction. He literally just retold the exact story of Far Cry 3 beat for beat and Just changed Jason Brody's name to Bobby Santiago. Like literally he didn't do anything different than the real Jason Brody. I highly suggest you do some volume leveling/tweaking for future videos. Your voice is rather soft and overshadowed by the background music, and every time I increase the volume, the joke scream clips and sound effects just kill my ears. Not really a big deal if this was a short format video, but for a one hour long video, it really becomes annoying after a while. Aside from that, thank you for reviewing the fan fic! Its something I've been told by my friends to check out for shits and giggles, but I just couldn't bring myself to do it. Really enjoy the humor in this review as well!

it's still creepy as hell tho bc name change or no, its still the same dude writing it, and the stain of the original is just that, a stain. it isn't something to be proud of, it's gross and weird. it has actively ruined the show for some people. the fact that the entire amphibia and owl house fandom can agree on, from what I've seen, is that no one likes admiraldt8 and the positive feedback he does get is because he filters comments. reading his work, honestly, left me with a sickness in my stomach. as if there was something viscerally wrong with it. maybe it was the context. maybe it was because he has drawn images of Anne pregnant, with his self insert's baby. which means he lusts for her bc he thought about that to begin with. he is 30. i could say more but I'll leave it at this: I would not recommend Admiraldt8's works for anyone unless they want something to laugh and or cringe at.

I think music in a fanfic can work, it just needs to be done properly. I use a few songs in mine occasionally and I try to have it be that the music enhances the mood. Other artistic mediums use music so I feel fanfics/literature can use it too. Though sometimes without the melody it doesn't feel quite right, but that's why I feel copyrighted songs can help in that regard since you can play them in the background while you read the fic. In Darrel's case though having "Thriller" play during the zombie sequence does nothing to enhance the mood and is just an excuse for him to have a dance number.

I'm here so often because there are sadly few "loyalty among worlds" readings on youtube, because i don't wanna read it myself in it's full, but still want context. I also just kinda love bad fanfic in a "thanks, i hate it" way. Unless it's funny bad, such as My Immortal or Starkit's prophecy. I feel like you deserve an award or compensation or something for wading through the cringe for our entertainment, so if you want some funny content, i recommend Mst3k, soothouse, sorrowtv, kurtis connor, danny gonzalez, drew gooden, and jarvis johnson. Nothing like comedy to drown out the cringe.
