Since Dynaudio released the new confidence in 2018,they haven’t released any high end speakers till now. Maybe because they have been purchased by a Chinese company, they are now focusing on mass market products .For this year, all they have done is add another veneer finish to one of their current line of speakers.

Dynaudio 20 years ago were some of the best… Confidence 5s we’re fabulous… Evidence were and still are some of the best… I still own the C5s…. Wilson has bigger slam but listeners fatigue is present for me….

Totally with ya on the paper drivers. I've observed over the years that they are often the ones that sound most natural with voices. I just happened to notice it on my own, then realized it was a 'thing' in the audio world when I made mention of it one time, and I had tons of people saying 'me too'.

I heard AYRE and RAIDHO at a dealer. Pricey system maybe £70k or more. Dealer really pushed the price - so expensive - so amazing. Sounded decent - nice clarity and bass grip, but overall was underwhelmed by the sound. Wasn't much better than a 10k system I had then. Very glad I found this amazing channel to help me find good brands. THANK YOU, JAY 👍

Vivid Audio uses Aluminum cone material and they sound very natural and organic

Hey Jay, i am looking to upgrade from my 25+ year old separates to a nice high end between 8-12K integrated amplifier... right now i been scoping out the internet with brands like Luxman, the higher end Yamaha/Technics line, Accuphase, and of course the Mcintosh MA8950, which has a DAC with HDMI ARC something i really want in my system if possible for my smart TV hookup... also an integrated amp with VU meters is a must lol... which would you go with of the mentioned brands?

Get a used Gryphon Diablo 300 for 12k and you're done. None of the options you listed can come close to the Gryphon.

@@A-gks I appreciate the suggestion, but the Gryphon would simply be too large to fit into my entertainment rack, the Macintosh is even pushing things... also need something with VU meters fake, or real so i can keep tabs of the audio level since i have a shitty insulated wall between in my townhome where i live 😑since 1997 i been winging it with an Adcom tuner preamp, and a Onkyo M504 power amp. so it shouldn't take too much to get something in the 10K price range to have better quality sound then what i already have...

Try Technics SU-R1000 integrated amp, I've watched reviews on it and they all loved it very. Worth every penny.

I have watched some videos on that integrated amplifier... now at the age of 54 i am looking for my end game system before, or after i retire lol... i really don't know in a few years if that 10k+ price range will be within my budget... i have a modest 1 single living income of just over 50K per year, with my house mortgage getting paid off next May 😀

Jay, I couldn’t disagree with you more about Dynaudio speakers. Their speakers are better today than they’ve ever been. When you compare Wilson, Focal and Dynaudio in the under $50,000 price range, which I have done extensively, the clear winner is Dynaudio. You have to spend at least double for a Wilson to be as good as the Dynaudio. I simply don’t like Focal speakers. I know you price range is way beyond mine but I have only evaluated speakers under $50,000.

GoerTek from China has acquired Dynaudio in 2014. So it is not a danish brand from 2014. Does the Danish who works in Danaudio factory care about a Chinese brand?

Focals are one of the best speakers. Only from Utopia line.. Everything else is irrelevant

I typically favor firms like Dynaudio and Focal due to them engineering, developing and manufacturing their own drivers, x-overs, etc. That said, I’ve never liked the sound of Dynaudio speakers. Certainly I’ve preferred Dynaudio to Focal but they lack crisp transients and clean bass that I value. More musical than Focal or B& W but there’s just a lot better dynamic speakers out there from firms like VonSchweikert, ATC and Spendor to name a few. As I’ve matured in my musical tastes, I’ve transitioned to mostly horn loaded speakers but I still own Von Schweikert VR5 Anniversary, which are the finest dynamic speakers I’ve heard short of the Ultra 7. I choose the VR5 Anniversary over any Dynaudio, Focal or Wilson speaker, regardless of price. My primary listening is jazz, symphony and opera sourced from r2r and vinyl.

I,am not an true audiophile, but I, am an audiophile for me because I love to listen music tuned like I want... I use INTEGRA RESEARCH RDC, RDA RDV trio in dolby music prologic2 (tuned) and I LOVE THIS.... and I can't love anymore stereo set.. yes, for me, a amplifier must be neutral and not color the sound. If a CD sound flat and lifeless.. it,s because the CD mixing.. btw, your WILSON AUDIO use the FOCAL drivers. Wilson is only an assemblage of different driver made by other true brand. You are lucky to be able to buy the speakers of your dream.. not me !

The drivers in those Wilson speakers are made by scan speak. The mid-bass (with the slit cones) is their revelator line , the mid I believe is illuminator series. Can't say what the others are but my understanding is they are all made by scan speak , which is a good thing as they make some of the best drivers in the world.

All brands cycle. Some go out of business and some brands diminish after coming out with awesome new products as they need to replenish capital for next research and development. That is why you see brands leap frogging each other over years and decades. Paper cones by nature are high distortion because of flexing and deteriorate quickly. Other materials tend to stand up to more abuse and more rigid. Paper is more of an alive material from trees. Basic pulp paper nothing special about it. The Sonus Faber Aida 2's I have for instance are a paper BLEND of more special types of trees. That blend gives extra rigidity and a certain sound to the cone hence the cost. Nothing wrong with regular paper cones just expect distortion and wearing out fast. Dynaudio was big on the car audio scene way back I had my car audio business. MB Quart was also large then for high end in cars. Dynaudio is nice but not my favorite. In 50k and under range you can likely find Platinum Monitor Audio 500II's in tiger finish. For the money I bought used about 15k and I think they are about 35k a pair retail I have not found better myself. I would say the one thing is you need a larger room and also the sounds stage is nice and tall but I find the vocal tends to be too tall whereas the Sonus Faber Aida's sound stage is large and high also but the vocalist voice stays center at normal height level. The layering of both are good. The Monitor Audio slams more with tech and hip hop but can be a tiny smidge on the brighter side with use of materials. They sounded great with my Parasound JC plus one amps in mono before I moved up to a pair of VAC 452 IQ Musicblocks tube amps set in mono. Not all brands lines are good across the board some take caution. I don't just trust whole in a brand I review each piece for purchase on it's own merit.

Disagree about 2060 Even Boulder says there’s not a big difference in sound to the 2160, it was parts availability that prompted the change Perhaps the system was early just like you had prematurely cycled the Magico m6

Hey Jay, as a long time standmount Dynaudio owner, I would argue that that is where their sweet spot is and they are very hard to beat in this segment. This is only my personal opninion , and I do not pretend to offend anyone : If you build a couple of speakers and deal for a while with drivers , cabinets , crossovers ,..etc….. you easily come to the conclusion there is still no better material for woofers and mid-woofers than paper , or paper derivates.

Dynaudio speakers. In my opinion are very dry sounding. Dull and lifeless. However, the tweeter can be a tad on the harsh side. Just the opposite of Wilson Audio, which is alive, lifelike, realistic and dynamic.
