Congratulations on 10k subscribers, guys. Your channel was one of the few things that helped me through the early , hard times of the pandemic (and a tough time in my life). Seriously 🙏❤.. Really happy for your success. For a channel that is purely music discussion , reliant only on the credibility and personality of the content hosts, no music ( so no copyright /monetary costs that other music channels might have) 10 K is a massive success. Add to that you have a dedicated , loyal Patreon membership /regular commenters who adore you, and it;s growing, You guys should be proud of what you have done. Don't take it for granted, Respect ✊

Congrats on 10K guys. I remember subbing to the channel when you had 5.1K and I couldn't believe you didn't have more subscribers given the quality of your content and the fact you didn't do shitty reaction/review videos where you pretend you haven't heard "Yesterday" by the Beatles ever in your life and put a surprised OMG thumbnail. I don't always agree with everything but that's what makes you guys authentic. You're true to yourselves. Honestly, none of my friends and family really give a shit about music so watching this channel is kinda like hanging out with fellow music-minded folks. Honestly, I think I watch your channel more than Netflix or Amazon. Your videos are so addicting, especially when you guys disagree on an artist or Jason has a completely out of left field opinion that Joe and Kramzer are just in sheer disbelief over and are just wondering if he's being contrarian. Keep up the great work. EDIT: ABBA rules. Joe for the win.

Congratulations to 10 K! Interesting how certain artists work best at making "singles" than "albums."
@NaughtyVampireGod2 жыл бұрын
I am reaching that conclusion on Siouxsie and the Banshees - They are a singles band for me - I think about half of my top 10 songs will be "non-album" singles - Some of the UK folks like the idea of non-album singles (see: The Jam) but I find it to be kinda annoying
@trickygoose22 жыл бұрын
@@NaughtyVampireGod For me, non-album singles are all very well for the completist who will buy everything by an artist on release or the person who buys it just because they really like it. They are a bit of a pain for fans who tend to just buy all the albums and eventually succumb to buying a compilation just to get them as they decided they do want everything. There is also the new single that is released just before a compilation that it appears on.
@NaughtyVampireGod2 жыл бұрын
@@trickygoose2 Hey - All that is undoubtedly correct. Another justification for a non-album single is to keep an artist on the charts between albums. I would think this is especially true during a music boom such as in the UK during the late 70's. But then the label should just go ahead and put that hit single on the forthcoming album. i think not having it there is a disappointment. George Martin once said that fans do not want the single on the album b/c it would be redundant; however, he is missing the fact that many fans just buy albums.

I would never state in a comment how unbelievably crap I believe some of them to be, I hate it when somebody does it to me... T. Rex is coming up in the next week or two, seldom do you cover any that I love this much but I am sure there are a few that will have to state how bad Bolan was (to my mind, they are free to so but I do wish they would be constructive)... I think not liking Kate Bush has a lot to do with not connecting with her music the way you should. It's a matter of time, I guess. Although, not liking her first album is really strange. And I think Sweet Dreams (Are Made Of This) is an excellent album with lots of hidden jems. I agree on later albums (just the hits hit). But then again, Jason doesn't like ABBA either.
@NaughtyVampireGod2 жыл бұрын
"Not connecting" could be said of any artist you don't like. However it's subjective. As to Kate, her first album is a classic. She does not equal it until Hounds of Love and the discography after that is not good.
@spoteach2 жыл бұрын
@@NaughtyVampireGod I agree. Her debut and Houds Of Love are also in my top three alongside Never For Ever. Her work after Hounds Of Love has its moments but I never tend to listen to the full albums. About "not connecting": I was thinking about Jason who likes good compositions, arrengements, instrumentation and production. You can't deny it's all present on her debut. Only thing I could understand is that you don't like her voice or the way she expresses herself lyrically. Jason not liking Kate Bush that much is the biggest surprise from this episode for me.
@NaughtyVampireGod2 жыл бұрын
@@spoteach Never For Ever is probably her third best. Several excellent songs incl Breathing, The infant Kiss, and some others. I read that Lionheart (second album) was rushed due to the unexpected success of the first album. . . For me the ironic thing about the Stranger Things/Kate Bush phenomenon is that Running Up That Hill is not really one of her best songs (imo).It's okay, but honestly I think it is perhaps more a matter of product placement. The public has had several opportunities to "discover" this song since it was first released.
@Tyelton2 жыл бұрын
@@NaughtyVampireGod I wouldn’t say her discography is bad after Hounds Of Love. I think The Sensual World and Aerial are both great albums. I mean she obviously never hits the highs that she hit in the early and mid 80s but I could name plenty of artists that fell off way more than she did.

Artist/bands that I covered with Listography/Test Like Music 1. Phil Collins (Nothing beyond 2.5. And the only artist can't finish whole catalog.) 2. Massive Attack (One 3 stars album, which is probably the best in whole genre, will see hopefully not soon...) 3. Don Henley (One 3 stars album.) Artist/bands that the guys covered, and I get lucky to miss. In no order: ▪︎ Oasis (listen once the whole catalog. I'd say nothing beyond 3 stars.) ▪︎ Whitney Houston (not my style of music.) ▪︎ Foo Fighters (Heard couple singles, so generic.) Two of your least favorites are two of my favorites: Billy Joel and Tom Waits. They're both such great songwriters. But I can understand Jason's distaste for The Stooges. Not really my cup of tea either. I think of The Stooges as kind of like The Doors if the Doors couldn't play their instruments. Kramzer says of Billy Joel, "he's pandering country music to the Jersey crowd." I have no idea what he is talking about right there. Also, when he says Billy Joel can't sing, that's just ridiculous. Heard Billy sing at MSG on TV recently and the man was still hitting the high notes on Innocent Man. With panache and perfect pitch. Dude is a legend.

knew sonic youth was going to come up for joe soon as i saw the video title, and as someone who really loves sonic youth, NYC ghosts and flowers absolutely deserves that 0 star rating, it’s baffling how aimless and directionless it is

Thank you, Joe.... Tom Waits is one of those artists for me.... Props to him, for getting all the respect he gets, that's cool, but I have never heard anyone explain the love to me, and listening.... I don't get it. He seems like one of those artists, who people think they need to say they like, I don't know? I have been binging the channel, after not knowing that it existed..... So good. Love it. 🤘

Congrats on the 10k followers but I have to say... Sonic Youth, PJ Harvey, Slint, Tom Waits.... these artists were formative and important to me and it's hard to hear you guys rank them so low. I guess I just have different taste- to each their own

There are a few artists on here that I own and have enjoyed albums by. The Eurythmics, PJ Harvey, Kate Bush, Faith No More (two great albums from them in The Real Thing and Angel Dust), Foo Fighters and even Sonic Youth (although Dirty isn't the best album ever it's by no means the worst). I guess music really is a matter of time and place and individual taste. Don't get the hate for Billy Joel - I really like his lyrics but then you guys love stuff like the Counting Crows that I just do not get the point of.

On My Soapbox: My personal Listography 'disappointment' has to be you three fine gentlemen placing (in my humble opinion) too much weight upon the 1980s and 1990s output of Rush. Believe me...it was NOT considered cool to like/appreciate Rush in the 1970s...they were too progressive, they wore kimonos, Geddy's voice could shred eardrums etc., etc., etc. But we tried n' true disciples of that "2112 to A Farewell To Kings to Hemispheres" trifecta are proud of our early recognition of what Rush was going to be. End of rant. Congrats on 10K subscribers! Luv the channel. Can't wait for the civil disturbances caused by your Top 500 singles list and Top 250 albums list! Appreciate ALL of your knowledge, passion and humor.

Brilliant channel, congrats on 10,000! Valuable archive you fellows are creating here. In general, this channel has been for me an excellent intro to artists I've never heard of -- I wouldn't normally listen to an hour of people talking about a band I don't know, and I enjoy hearing your well considered opinions about artists I know and (sometimes) love. Interesting mix of opinions, and I appreciate your honesty-- trashing a band picked by patreon supporters demonstrates this, (as well as the intelligence of the audience!). (As Neil Young once said -- If you always give people what they want, they get bored with it.) However, putting Kate Bush on a list like this is a disgrace! At least the mention of Billy Joel somewhat makes up for it, even if it was only once. Same for the pretentious Phil Collins, and Muse.

I loved Tom Waits' short cameo as Buck Merill in The Outsiders. Buck was Dallas Winston's rodeo partner and roommate. Johnny Cade and Ponyboy Curtis were going to see Dallas after Johnny killed Bob Sheldon, a Soc, and Doc answered the door, but said that Dallas was busy. Johnny insisted on telling Dallas that it was him and Ponyboy and he would come and see them. Buck would go back inside and get Dallas. And that's about it for Tom Waits' appearance.
