BoJo is a great example of the class of grifters, like JRM or Jordan Peterson, who use the colloquial symbology of what laypeople heuristically use to determine intelligence and education to make their laughable tosh seem impenetrable and therefore sophisticated. They're the kid on the playground who realized other kids would think them smart if they used big words where little ones would suffice. It's a very old trick, relying principally on the fact that people are reticent to admit genuine ignorance (although there's really no shame in it) by revealing that they don't grasp a concept and asking for clarification. Requests for clarity always bamboozle charlatans, because it's something they, by definition, cannot provide.

I doubt he's doing one liners as he shoots invading Russians. The difference between Zelensky and Johnson couldn't be plainer. One rose to the occasion and is attempting to save his country, the other sank to the depths of Tory sleaze, taking his country with him, and thinks it's all just a humorous chapter in his internal life story. I wonder which country should be considered a global presence now? A large majority of the world is watching with admiration how the Ukrainians are handling the invasion. They are paying attention to Ukrainian needs and pleas and largely acting in that country's best interests. And off to the side, facing the wrong way, stands Johnson, the UK's mouthpiece. Mumbling about how it's so hard to sanction aggressors, they don't like it. There is a Russian connection between the disasters befalling the UK and Ukraine, the whole world can see it Only one of the two countries seems to be doing much about it.

It's a fair point, but people aren't turning to Zelensky for his comedic skills in this period. Just because he was a professional comedian (also has a law degree) doesn't mean everything he does is comedy. And while comedians are helpful in processing a crisis, nobody's asking for one of Stephen Colbert's (love him!) razor-sharp monologues in lieu of, say, cardiac surgery, hilarious and incisive as said monologues may be.

I feel that MPs should be a fair representation of society BUT that the ones who make it to the Cabinet, by law, should be qualified in the subject they are addressing, such as; Minister for Health… senior doctor or surgeon or nurse, minister for Transport… should be an infrastructure professional or logistics person. The difficulty is who decides what qualifications are sufficient. Currently ministers are supposed to know what they are doing, as decided by the government and primarily the Prime Minister. They will generally have ministerial experience, but often political factors are deemed more important than experience in the specific subject of their department. The theory is that the civil servants provide that expertese, the minister just has to give them direction. If its not the elected government that decides if someone can be a minister then someone else must hold that power. Civil servants? Judges? House of Lords? If power is abused by an elected official the people can vote them out. If its abused by an unellected person it can be a much more permanent problem.

And even if they know where and what Canada is many assume it's part of the USA. And I once did Google Canada and it took me to the town of Canada in Ontario, California. Which I have been to incidentally. Until the Truckers protest we were a boring country noone knew anything about or cared.
