Ed Bolian False. Decommissioned crown vics are still common. A fiesta ST is affordable and accessible. Some forms of Motorsport are more popular now than before, such as autoX. With the current state of social media and such, the car modding community is more widely available than ever, and so are the meetups and cars & coffees... Your nostalgia is invalid.

By "savage as fuck" you mean committing class E felonies?
@AvgJoeCrowe6 жыл бұрын
You know it's not a jury trial, right? Class E felonies would be a trial by a judge, no jail time for first offense generally, but he'd lose the car and face 1 to 4 years probation, and a pretty hefty fine- minimum $1,000 to a maximum of $250,000. It doesn't matter how "charismatic" he was, if he got caught, the law would due its justice. I don't even know where you got the "federal case" portion, but I'm assuming you just don't know shit about anything that deals with legalities. An attorney wouldn't have to "volunteer there [sic] time," as it would be prosecuted by a State's attorney. It would be an open-and-shut case. www.nysenate.gov/legislation/laws/PEN/190.26
@AvgJoeCrowe6 жыл бұрын
You do know that that is for CIVIL trials, right? In (Baldwin v. New York, 399 U.S. 66 (1970)) it was established that in CRIMINAL cases, the right to trial was only available when the defendant faced more than six months in prison, or more than $5,000 in fines. This was FURTHER established in (U.S. v. Nachtigal, 507 U.S. 1 (1993)). Even then, with the clear-cut case, the dude would be best pressed to NOT take the jury trial, as the waste of time would most likely end up with him actually paying the higher fine and seeing jail time, rather than the judge's recommendation of probation. Again, I don't think you understand the law at all.
@AvgJoeCrowe6 жыл бұрын
Actually, read again fucktard. Or, look it up yourself since I linked the actual crime. There is no "MINIMUM" time or money, that is what is SUGGESTED. When looking up state laws, you MAY want to look at the state the guy broke the law in, which was NY, instead of going with the first Google hit, which was Nevada and had the wording directly as you posted. lmgtfy.com/?q=Category+E+Felony+NY Seriously man, you'd make a horrible lawyer.

switchcars I'm surprised you got away with the pa and cb most states its jail time for impersonating a cop
@mcearl80737 жыл бұрын
sam johnson a CB isn't illegal anywhere, cops don't even use them. PAs aren't illegal either, some are siren/PA combo units which I suppose if you use the siren you could get in trouble but you won't with just a PA unless you're doing something really dumb. Also wearing aviators and a hat isn't exactly impersonating a cop, if people think you might be a cop then that's on them. Buy a whole uniform with patches and all and try to arrest someone or pull them over then you'll get jammed up pretty quick.
@samjohnson77377 жыл бұрын
No what I mean by my statement would be the story of using the pa to pull people out of their cars, or doing a 180 on a highway to go after a car. It's a very fine line of what counts and doesn't count for impersonating and if a cop decided to bust them for it they could and would. I own a cop car myself a detectives car so it's even better on most of the things he talked about just not the super assholish things.

This idiot merged onto the freeway at around 100mph, and he spots me, starts slowing down, I get behind him and for the next five or so miles till he got off he kept getting slower and slower. By the time he got off the freeway... 55mph. :D Best part was, everyone who saw him shoot onto the freeway had already been around me for a few miles and when this dude flew passed everyone, they all fell behind me and stayed there and watched the whole thing. Food McCarthy My first car was a blacked out P71 with a push-bar and the cage still in the back. I had so much fun with that car... I even drove around with my friends late one night blaring the COPS theme song. I was kind of surprised he didn't mention buying your teenager a V8, rear-wheel-drive car is bound to land them some tickets.

I'm a retired 64 year old mechanic. I have a 2006 gray Crown Vic P71. One of very few gray ones I've seen. It has the black P71 wheels with the little chrome center caps, spotlights, and front push bar. There is no sign it ever had police decals on it, so I don't really know what it was used for. It had 2 plugged antenna holes, but no indication it ever had the center divider between the front and back seats. I put fake antennas in the plugged holes, and because I am a licensed amateur radio operator, I also installed three real antennas on the trunk lid, and have real (amateur) radios in it, with a GPS unit on top of the dash. I live in AZ, so I put an AZ flag for a front license plate. As a finishing touch I put fleet numbers on the front fenders and trunk lid, and it still has the police interceptor emblem on the rear. All perfectly legal. It definitely attracts attention. No, I don't have the hat and sunglasses, the windows are tinted as dark as they can legally be, so it's really hard to see inside. But it's amazing how people behave around it. You would think by now that people would realize that the police no longer use Crown Vics. They either use Dodge Chargers, trucks, or SUVs.

In 1978 I was 17 and bought a 1972 Fury cop car for $460 that said Certified 140 mph on the speedometer and would do it too! It still had the spotlight on it which we used to shine on kids making out in the park. It also jumped railroad tracks at 100 mph and landed safely, unlike the General Lee. My girlfriend loved to drive it too. Good times.

@nathanieltoia20155 жыл бұрын
government car, they are mantained
@justinryan94175 жыл бұрын
It's not the "driving hard" that wears them out quickly. It's constantly starting and stopping them. When you start your car-it is not fully oiled near the top of the engine. So the first 10 or 15 seconds an engine is running is always going to be the most "strenuous -for-no-reason" running time. Wears out crankshaft bearings and such. My police truck runs well,even with the distorted push bar (didn't even notice that until I got home,guess somebody got hit by this thing once! 😆) .
@matthewbrand41125 жыл бұрын
generally speaking, the cars are driven hard, and as commented below, the constant 'stop-start' cycle is what damages them. however, they are generally religiously serviced on service intervals and parts are all manufacturer genuine (holden/gm in nz) mine had done 200,000kms when i got it, and is still running like a new car today
