I had a 1961 Dodge, it registered up to 130 MPH on the speedo. It had a vibration at 130, but if you kept pushing, it went away. I never got stopped in it, but it was a mechanic modified car, with torqueflite. it could reach 110 in "2nd" gear. The guy who had it before me rebuilt the trans so it was 1.46, 2nd was 1.1 and top gear was a 23% overdrive. It was the most fun I ever had as a teenager. I am positive it would have gotten me arrested, except for the fact it was faster than the highway patrol pursuit 440's. By the time one of them saw me I had already passed 130, and let it run until I was in the next town, where I ducked into a driveway and laid down for 10 minutes, then drove legally back home.

Could have went to jail that night lol I should have made him laugh. Maybe I wouldn't have got the ticket for 80. And it was in a 55

I got pulled over and they searched my car. I had a set of expensive Taylor ceramic spark plug wire boots on the passenger seat, My buddy had a special tool for cutting the wires and somehow all the boots ended up in my daily. The officer insisted that they were crack pipes and was trying to arrest me for selling them. I argued and argued with him but he wasn't having any of it, Finally the police chief showed up and straightened everything out... Its amazing how non car people don't understand some things.

My dad has a great cop story: Back in 1957 he was pulling out of the high-school parking lot impressing his girlfriend by lighting the tires up for a couple of hundred feet. The cop pulls him over. My dad replys he hit some loose pee gravel. The cop starts laughing and states he should fine him $1 dollar for every feet of rubber he just layed down. Long story short they had a great laugh and my dad didn't get fined.

It's really not difficult to get out of a ticket if you aren't a total douche bag. The fact of the matter is that cops deal with belligerent assholes all day long. If you get pulled over and start with the "I know my rights" bullshit, you're getting a fucking ticket every single time. But if you are respectful (not even necessarily funny) and don't have a mile-long list of traffic citations, they will usually let you go without a ticket. I've been pulled over twice (I never do anything too crazy, but I also never drive as slow as the speed limit) and was given just a warning both times.

I had an old 97 Concorde. I was drinking a can of Sam's Cola. Mind you this was at 230 in the morning. I was cruising at about 70 mph. Out of nowhere I see red and blue. I thought great what did i do now -_- so i pull over and he walks around my car taps on my window and asks for my license and registration. I said hey before i give them to you i want to know why you pulled me over. He said have you been drinking? I said yes sir, i been drinking Sam's Cola. I have a retired detectives Crown Vic. There are so many stories I could tell. One was coming off of a street light, with two wannabe racers right beside me. NO BODY is passing me. I pulled into a donut shop parking lot. You could hear them tear out, I was busting a gut.

Back in 2013-14 I had a black 2007 cvpi, with dual spotlights. It had been freshly painted right before I bought it, so it looked like an unmarked trooper. It was both hilarious and infuriating to drive. Cops would wave at me, regular people flip me off once they realize I not a cop. If I was at the front at a red light, no other lanes would pass me after it turned green. On 2 lane roads, anybody I was behind would suddenly be going 2mph under the speed limit and holding up traffic. If I was cruising in the right lane on the highway nobody would pass me on the left, just stack up behind me. If you're in a hurry it's easy to get thru traffic, just put the turn signal on and people hit the brakes to let you over, lol

I drive a ‘66 vw beetle. Definitely not fast or a cop magnet. However it is so light that if I just go a little fast and swing the back end, I can drift 3/4 through a roundabout. I did this once at 1:00am coming home from work. I didn’t see the cop on the other side until I was finished. I don’t know if his shift was over or what, but we made brief eye contact as we drove by each other (the roundabout was well lit) and we both continued in opposite directions.

I literally had the same exact thing happened to me. I had seen the episode of cops where the guy was smuggling drugs and the cop came up and said “do you have any knives, guns, bombs, hand grenades or rocket launchers with you?” And the drivers response was straight face no officer not at all and of course he ended up having 26 pounds of weed. I got pulled over not long after that and the cop said the same exact thing “do you have any knives, guns, hand grenades, dead bodies in the car?“ And It clicked And immediately started laughing and said “yeah there’s two dead bodies and six rocket launchers in the trunk why is that illegal?” Knowing fully well that me and the four other passengers each had like a quarter ounce of weed in each of our pockets and sure enough he didn’t asked to search it nothing just gave me a speeding ticket and let me go on my way.

Love this guy's stories, more like this!! Craziest story that ever happened to me, is I finished up working on my car at around 3am so of course you take it out to make sure all the mods work right? So of course I blew past a cop coming the other way on a divided highway at around 170-ish. I said several bad words and kept checking my rear view mirror and was still in that, should I run or not phase. All of a sudden I look back and his headlights are pointed at the trees in the center of the road and I am like, "What the hell?" Then his car snapped around and he spun several times. I was like well he is going to be pissed and so I just took off. While I got away I was scared as hell he was going to track me down so I didn't drive for several weeks after that.

In a crazy snowstorm in upstate Ny, I did a perfect drift across a big intersection at 2am. I'm completely sideways and look over and there is a campus police hiding in the corner of a parking lot. He pulls me over and asked me what happened. I shit you not, I said I did it completely on purpose and I couldn't just leave a chance to drift in a foot of fresh powder. Got pulled over once, I was speeding so I thought great another ticket. He came up to the window and asked about the plastic bag I had laying on the passenger side seat to start with. I smiled while on the inside thinking getting a ticket anyway might as well have fun with it. So I pick up the bag and tell the officer that I just got the best hook up I ever found, this is some of the best pot (pause) holders around. His face went from pure joy to laughter and told me to get the f out of here. Never even got around to asking for licenses or righting speeding ticket. My mother had made me pot holders for a house warming gift. I still have those but don't use them they hang on the wall, as I can look at them and smile no matter the day.

This is in Northern-Norway. Two years ago i was stopped for a routine Control. Turned out the plates on my Volvo (wich i owned then) matched the plates on a stolen motorbike in Italy. Three years ago i was stopped by the police, cleared the paperwork and breathalyzer With flying colours. The officer then asked out of curosity why the rear window was so fogged up, my answer was; "Do you see the girl in the rear seat?", "Yeah?", "Well, she forgot her panties tonight". He just laughed, went back to the vehicle and drove off. Four years ago i was stopped for a routine Control, had a full car (2 guys and 2 Girls as passengers), all of us guys were wearing those Three-holed balaclavas and the Girls didn't. When we noticed that it was the police wearing those high visibility vests in the dark we started to panic, struggling to take it off and the front passenger didn't get his seatbelt on. During that routine Control we sat With the balaclavas on, the guy holding his seatbelt to make it look like it was fastened. The officers just stared weird at us for a moment and said "Ju-just keep driving, i'm not going to bother asking any of you anything, just take care".

My favorite cop encounter involved me and 2 buddies doing 75 in a 35. We were blasting around the back roads in a town with 1000 residents and by sheer bad luck the 1 cop in the town was going the opposite direction and we blew by him. I look back and see his brakes on. He comes to a stop and then just heads off ignoring us.

The laughing thing is true, I was pulled over a few weeks ago for 82 in a 70 and the cop asked me for my drivers license and then started asking me about my car (86 944 Turbo) and as I'm talking to him about the car I was pulling (I thought) my drivers license out, actually it was my visa card, and handed it to him. He laughed and said "uh, sorry sir we don't take visa" I was like oh shit, lol. and gave him my Dl he went back to his car and came back a couple minutes later with a warning, lol.

I was pulled over for going 75 in a 55 coming out of a turn by a county sheriff on a two lane rural road back in the early 90's. First thing he asked me when he came to my window was "Do you know how fast you where going?!!!". With a totally dead pan expression and a monotone voice I said "Your the one with a radar gun. You tell me." Needless to say that really pissed him off. But as luck would have it he actually didn't have a radar gun equipped in his car and he really didn't know how fast I was going. When I pointed out that fact he got super pissed and handed me a ticket for 65 in a 55 made a few veiled threats and stormed off. I went to court without a lawyer and managed to talk the DA into throwing it out.

My favorite police stop was late at night on the weekend long ago. It was a trooper doing dui checks. He asked me if I have been drinking and will I do a sobriety test. I said "sir, I can pat my head while also rubbing my tummy in a circle while stand on one foot jumping in a circle and saying the alphabet" He was set back and said let's see. I got out. I did it. in iowa i was on break at work and a police officer came up to the group and demanded to see our ID. no one responded aside from confused looks. he singled me out and said "show me your ID now" i responded with "let me shoot your gun". he completely freaked out, started yelling and commanding us to put our hands behind our backs. about that time our supervisor came outside and yelled "breaks over, get back to work" we all just stood up and left. cop was so confused. im not sure if he was on drugs or a power trip, but needless to say the plant manger had a long talk with the chief of police and they were told theyre not allowed on the property any more. small town cops are either really cool or compete potatos. there's no middle ground

I've got a story like the first one. My mother got pulled over in Windsor Heights, a suburb of Des Moines, Iowa in my dad's brand new Ram. These police are notorious for bring strict. They ticket for exactly the speed you did or the law you broke. He came up to the window and he said, "Nice truck. It's not gonna last long the way you drive." She said, "Do you have a reason for pulling me over?" He said, "I do. You ran a red light back there." She said, "It was yellow." He said, "License and registration." He goes back to the car and starts rifling through the glovebox and then the trunk. Mom said, "Is he looking for a gun? If he thinks I'm a threat, I would have had him long by now." He comes back and says "Well, I guess today is your lucky day!" She said, "And why is that?" He says, "I'm all out of tickets." She said, "Oh, so you're blind and incompetent?" He was furious. Telling her not to disrespect him and that he would be out looking for her. She warns my dad since he daily's the Ram. Sure enough he gets snapped on I-235 for 10 over. This guy comes up to the window hot shit and goes, "Who the hell are you!" Dad says, "I'm me!!!" He said "Who else drives this truck!" And he goes, "Nobody! It's just me! Why officer?" Oh boy was he mad. Not only did he find this truck out of his jurisdiction, it wasn't even who he wanted. I wonder what ever became of that officer.

One of my better friends got busted doing 160 in a 70 but the cop didn't have his equipment turned on and was coming the opposite way so the best he could do was estimate "fast as hell". The cop asks him how fast he was going and with a totally straight face my buddy replies "IDK, maybe 55?". The cop just laughs it off and gives him a warning.

I don't drink. I'm a retired cop but I rarely ever pull that card. I was pulled over, the officer says, "I smell alcohol." I said, "Then maybe you should stop drinking on duty, sir." It escalated and I had to pull my card... Ended up with both of us laughing at the end, though...

Your stories remind me of my youth. I was 19 years old and had a 1967 Camaro RS. I bought the car with the intention of restoring it but found that i could never win a show as i did not have the original engine. I called my uncle who built drag engines for over 20 years and told him i needed a motor. He built me a 2200 hp 505 cubic inch big block for the car. This car did sub 7 second second quarter mile runs at over 200 miles per hour. I was out late one night and started the car. Now this car is very loud and a cop came around the corner and pulled me over. He walked up to my window and said "I am going to ticket you for excessive display. (Meaning i supposedly revved the engine and was showing off.) He handed my the citation and as he was turning away I told him that if I had to do the time I was sure going to do the crime. He then asked what I meant and I said watch this. I then proceded to leave two 350 foot long black marks down the middle of main street in down town Deer Lodge, Montana. When I got back to where he was standing I said That is what I meant. You ticketed me for supposedly showing off when all I did was start the car. I then told him what was under the hood. By that time people had come out of the bar and were looking at the car. The bar owner asked me what went on and I told him. He turned to the cop and said "You're going to look mighty stupid tomorrow at shift change when Dad asks why you gave my cousin a hard time. He built that motor." Yes the county sherriff, (his boss), is my uncle who actually built the motor in the Camaro. The cop tore up the ticket and 28 years later still gets shit over that night. That Camaro once did a 267 mph quarter mile. After I sold it years later the guy who bought it wrecked it at 220 mph when he blew a rear tire and hit a retaining wall while running from a Nevada Highway patrolman in the desert. I was sad to hear of it as I had run it for years and never so much as scratched it.

Man I thought I was the only person that had a "I ran out of tickets" story. Happened to me in a small town in my 1990 Mustang GT in like 2005 or so. As soon as he said he didn't have tickets I started laughing and rolled up my window and just pulled away. Leaving him standing there powerless. My only triumph in that car honestly. Stock 5.0's are so slow

I was in a truck with my friends and the driver was only 17, and in New Jersey a 17 year old driver can only have one other passenger. The truck was full with 5 of us. We were going over 100 in a 60 and there were no other cars since it was late at night. In New Jersey a 17 year old driver also cannot be driving past 10 pm and it was past midnight. We got pulled over for speeding and the cop didn’t even ask for a license. He just told us to slow it down. The cop got back in his car, did a burn out, whipped the car around to do a uie, and sped away.

I have generally gotten off by being extremely deferential. My three favorites are these: first one was on Howard St decades ago, which was the border between Evanston and Chicago and I had made a u-turn and got pulled over. In those days, being deferential meant getting out your car to meet the cop halfway. The cop said “It is illegal to make a u-turn within 200 feet of an intersection.” So I repeated the sentence “oh, so it’s illegal to make a u-turn within 200 feet of an intersection.” He then said those words back to me and I repeated them back to him. Finally, he just said to be careful and let me go. One was more recent and I got nailed for speeding by an Illinois trooper at night. I pulled over, turned on the dome light and got my credentials out. Cop came up and I handed my stuff…which included one of the very first concealed carry licenses issued by the state. He kept shuffling the cards and I realized I had thrown him off his game. He asked me where I was carrying and I said my right front pocket. He gave me back my stuff and said slow down; then he did the “Kansas two-step” and asked me why I was speeding. I said “officer, I have no excuse.” That was that. The third one I am not proud of…again this is going back at least 40 years. I had been drinking at a bar in the city and got really wasted. My car was a 1973 VW Beetle. My friend said I was too drunk to drive and I agreed; next thing I know I was waking up stopped on the shoulder of the Kennedy expressway with Chicago police blue lights flashing behind. The friend said, “Hey we gotta switch seats, my license is suspended.” So we did a fire drill inside the car; so two 6’ tall drunks climbing over a stick shift, etc. I opened the driver’s side and by this time there was a cop on each side of the cars walking towards us. I took two steps and fell right on my face. I got up and yelled out “Dave, give me some money.” I remember that I was in the back of the squad and the cop was saying “this is going to cost you, buddy.” Next thing I remember is waking up at home the next morning. I called this dude and asked him how much money he had given me and he said $40 (probably worth around $225 or more today if you google it). And, I still had $20 in my pocket……

I've been pulled over A LOT in my day. Probably 30 times now. The vast majority of those were in my 20's. Even got pulled over twice in the same day, within hours of each other and both were 20+ over. Have yet to get any points though. You just got to know how to talk to cops. Good video.

I once came over a hill on a 2 lane road and saw a semi truck coming up the other way. I was doing about 75 in a 55 zone and when I went past the trailer, I saw a cop right on its tail. I went past the cop and thought I'm busted... But it wasn't until I tapped my brakes that he actually turned around and came after me. Gave me a ticket for 70 in a 55 zone and when I asked, he refused to let me see the radar gun after telling me that THE RADAR said I was going 70. Fast forward to my court date. I am there by myself and the prosecutor finishes his entire questioning of the cop. I merely asked him if he actually had my speed locked on the radar gun or not. He said yes. "No further questions" I say, but can I recall him to the stand during my defense? Judge says he will allow it. When I get a chance for my side I ask for a chalkboard to write on. They recess while a whiteboard is brought in. I call the cop to the stand again to rebut his testimony. When we resume, I proceed to draw a diagram of the road and use his own numbers to set up the exact diagram. I proceed to prove mathematically that had I been going the speed he said I was, he would have had to have locked my speed into the radar gun almost 2 seconds before it was even possible to see me. When I asked him again if he had locked my speed in the radar gun, he still said yes. "No further questions" In my closing statement, I said that lies were told in this courtroom today... Either the mathematics on the whiteboard lied, or the officer lied. If you believe that math lies, then find me guilty... If you find it more likely that the officer is lying when the math proves he lied, then I ask for a not guilty decision. I walked out of court with no points and a not guilty verdict. The cop looked pissed.
