Hello there and welcome to the video.
In this one, I will show you how to smash the California Photography Challenge on Jurassic Difficulty.
This Challenge seems to be giving many people a lot of trouble.
This guide aims to show the best method to photograph 31 different dinosaur species and photograph 12 different dinosaur behaviours as needed to complete this challenge.
If you have not completed this challenge on any difficulty before, then you will get the "Do-you-think-he-saurus?" Achievement/Trophy.
I usually chapter videos but I would not recommend skimming this guide as you may miss one of the many neccessary tips needed to complete the challenge.

Dinosaur Behaviours (12 needed in any order);
Write down and tick them off if that helps.
1. Socialising
2. Resting
3. Looking for food
4. Looking for water
5. Drinking
6. Eating plants
7. Running
8. Fighting
9. Panicking
10. Sleeping
11. Hunting
12. Eating from a carcass
13. Eating from a feeder
14. Attacking ranger team
15. Chasing a flare (This one suggested by PaleoJohnathan and works great!)

I watched the first seven minutes and it was all I needed. Got everything completed. My worst issue was the 12 different behaviors and overcame that with patients. Good guide for Jurassic difficulty.

Very helpful guide, thanks! I finished with a minute to spare, but if I'd known about using flares I probably would've finished with about 4 minutes left, since I wasted time driving around looking for one last behavior. One thing I noticed is that I think there might be 32 species, even though you only need to photograph 31. I say this because the indominus rex died in a fight before I got to it, and dead bodies don't count for photos.

Additionally you can fire a flare and photograph them chasing it. Using that and this video I managed to complete it with 4:23 left and 2 major route blunders that lost me ~20 secs each.

additionally, you can go near to a carnivore and let it attack you and you can take a picture of "attacking ranger team" behaviour

Managed it with 1:07 remaining using this route. I reached the Spinosaurus with 31 species already photographed but 11/12 behaviours. It was asleep, so I used the horn and it woke up and started to attack the vehicle. "Attacking vehicle" was the behaviour that got me the challenge.

Thanks for the tips! Did it with 2:41 left on the counter first try! As for the flares; they don't seem to count as a seperate behavoir. I had normal, resting, socializing when I met the galliminus', shot a flare, which clocked 3 running and 3 fleeing from flare. Then I had 4 behaviors, so only counted as 1 behavior. Chasing a flare (for a preditor) does seem to count as a behavior though.

Haha yes indeed. Just been sharpening a few runs to possibly submit for a new WR and got below 8 minutes on attempt number 3. Thats 8 minutes real time which includes all in game time stoppages for the pictures breakdown menu every time too. Blistering. Definitely the quickest Jurassic Challenge by far. I have discovered new behaviours too which are listed in the description along with the others.

Took me five attempts but I finally got it. Most of my time was lost getting stuck in foliage that looks exactly the same as bits you can drive through. 30 seconds to spare and I am never touching that challenge again. 😅

Haha. Yeah the foliage hit boxes can be very confusing. Sometimes the jeep stops when there is seemingly nothing there. Congrats on completing it and I hope the video helped.

I watched the first 10 minutes then completed it. I just didn't know you could open the map, once I knew M opened the map this became very easy. My advice is if you really need behaviours, you are rushing too much past where the Rex and Giganotosaurus is. They will usually fight with something near them if you wait a few minutes or manipulate the situation. There's like 6 different ones you can get here, including in-fighting, eating and so on.

Yeah mate. There are behaviours everywhere. The 15 minute time limit seems rough but it actually isnt once you have the route figured out. The timer stops when looking at the picture breakdown screen as well so you can take as much time as you like checking which behaviours and dinosaurs you are ticking off the list. I now hold the WR time for this challenge. 5m:51s real time and only 4 minutes in registered game time.

Is is appaling. It took about 5 full runs to compile enough notes to make a video. I do not like this challenge and I know a lot of others do not either just because it is difficult for all the wrong reasons. It is required for 100% challenge completion on the main menu too. Hopefully this video gets a few people out of a tight spot.

Ooh. How do you get control of the Heli please dude? I hold the speedrun WR for both Easy and Jurassic on this challenge. I just messed around trying to get heli control but cannot figure it out. I know the challenge is meant to be done in the ranger jeep.

I did everything. I ended with all 12 behaviors and I’ve 4 million dollars but, I still missed one Dino and it was the flipping giga. It’s not my fault either because it was dead when I found it!!!!!!
