I live in Inver Grove Heights and my neighbor across the street got robbed by 2 people right before Christmas 2023 and 2 other homes on the same block a couple months earlier , people around here barely getting by and they still get victimized😢

Love my state but we need to accept that Saint Paul and Minneapolis. Are like 12% of the population alone. The 3rd largest city is Rochester and its 3x smaller than Saint Paul which is 300k. Every other town is less than 100k of course those cities are the worst. I live in Saint Cloud. The only thing we have is SCSU and a Mall.

Stop asking city people what the best city is! The town I live in, waconia, is straight out of a fairy tale. Town right on the lake, plenty to do downtown, hunting areas within 15 minute drive. People from the cities have no idea what a good town is.

Yo! Everyone who lives in Minnesota knows of areas that are deemed “unsafe” due to the various activities that take place. This state has a past like states in the south. Everyone has their reasons for labeling any state/city as the “worst” however, those who experience these areas on a daily basis have a deeper understanding of why. No matter where you place your feet be aware of your surroundings like this well spoken young man said. a. In areas where a chaotic movie scene with guns, fights, rape, and police shootings, robbers just might take place, pay attention because you placed yourself in that area. b. In areas where a chaotic movie scene with creepy stalkers, tree hangings, kidnappings, guns, and discriminatory activities just might take place, pay attention because you placed yourself in that area. The burbs don’t get a pass and here is why- mind you we are in 2024 not the 1700’s: The other day a young man of color told me that he will never go to Maple Grove, MN in the night. He shared that he’d be judged by white peoples in that area. He said “Look at me! They’d question why I’m there and harass me! it’s not safe for me past dark because I am dark skinned. I don’t trust that area after a certain time so I’ll stay home.” I’ve never heard anyone say that about Maple Grove, MN but I’ve experienced wild, and racist behavior during the day in that area as an adult. Either way, I feel safe wherever I go, I am always sure to be mindful of my surroundings in every city especially the burbs as a person of color. Very good comment and quite true. There is still discrimination out there, especially in the suburbs, even though the suburbs are getting more and more integrated. And I personally blame the news media. I think the news media do the black community a great disservice by always showing them as the top headline doing bad behavior on the streets of Minneapolis, and then the people in the outer suburbs or the countryside get that perception of Black people being horribly bad people who should be avoided and not live in “their “ area. Of course, there is quite a bit of discrimination against Somali migrants and people migrating from Chicago and Gary Indiana. People get the sense that people migrating here from those areas cause nothing but trouble.

By the way, just letting you know that unlike the deep south here in Minnesota once you get outside the major metro area, you’re in a sea of white people and you’re gonna definitely stick out in the crowd and likely get stares and questions. Edina's the worst because it's an expensive suburb of Minneapolis and they try so hard to let you know that. Best city is either Lakeville, Shakopee or pretty much any rural city within an hour of the Twin Cities. Also I'm not gonna lie. The redhead at 0:34 sounds like an Edina girl.

Ask young adults in a mall and you get predictable results. The focus is on the built environment and entertainment. There were eight deer in the catchbasin behind our granddaughters' house this morning as I was giving their dog a walk. I nannied them for six years, and it was great for them to grow up in Burnsville. Tons of parks with wild, unmowed places to go exploring, and Burnsville is a very diverse city from people's origins standpoint. Lots of libraries in the Metro, which they really enjoyed. But they love coming to stay with us in the far north, where it's quiet wilderness with few people. The Metro dominates Minnesota, but it's a large state, with a variety of environments, and is the only interior state that can compete with the coastal states, and that's considering the fact that it's the coldest state outside of Alaska. (However, more people live in deep cold in Minnesota than in Alaska.) I would tell people to get out and go exploring. Ditch the GPS and go get lost, and you will find hidden gems out there. You don't need an SUV. I go down forest service roads with my minivan.

I’ve lived in many places in our dry ass state broski from Saint Paul , north Minneapolis, s Minneapolis, prior lake , Edina, etc. the best place for people our age 18-25 is Minneapolis downtown and uptown I also got mad love for south Minneapolis. If you haven’t had Somali food y’all go to anywhere it’s 🔥!! Now the best place to raise a family is Edina or Minnetonka Beach especially in the summer. The worst place is Fridly, or north minpolis Saint Paul too. Danger very high but if you got street smarts y coolin. cooling . The Moa is dry after like 2 vists and they always got some crime there

Worst: There's a ton of awful little towns in rural Minnesota. In the Twin Cities, stay out of north Minneapolis and Brooklyn Center. Best: Probably Minneapolis Hidden Gems: Duluth, Stillwater, Grand Marais, and unlike the one girl in the video, I'd call Anoka a hidden gem. Nice little downtown, fun nightlife, lots of little antique and other fun shops, and celebrations all throughout October for Halloween. Best Place to See: I've coastline in California, Washington, Hawaii, Maine and all throughout New England, Jersey, and Florida, but there's nothing like the North Shore of Lake Superior. Huge cliffs, spectacular views, and you can't swing a dead cat without hitting a waterfall.

Best City as a Minnesota resident. Has to be Duluth cause of the scenic views and landscapes there. Worst has to be Minneapolis because of the crime rates and the poverty level of some individuals. Hidden gem is in Ely MN. Home of the boundary waters area. Another beautiful part of the state.
