With Alien ant farm, they actually got Jackson’s blessing to do the song, and HE loved it. They also never set out intending to do it to start with. The singer said that the bassist used to play the baseline of the song at concerts and the crowd instantly knew what it was and loved it. They got ahold of Jackson’s people and asked if they could do the cover, never thinking he’d never say yes, but he did, saying it would only be released if he himself liked it.

I’m more of a metal head, I don’t really like nickel back all that much but I won’t come out and just rip on them. If anything how you remind me is a decent tune and even a guilty pleasure of mine. But the issue is outside of that, it’s just generic radio rock with creepy lyrics. If i want to listen to listen to a raunchy creeper anthem I’d listen to something with actually talent like RX queen or prosthetics.

Funny story: I went to High School with Jynx from Black Veil Brides. His real name is Jeremy Furguson, and I got to hang out with him a few times and can confirm the guy was amazing... he was always into the hair metal stuff, but could play everything from Randy Rhodes flawlessly. I can confirm he was, indeed, an outcast, much like myself, but a cool dude none the less. But seeing him in a band........... like that... not shocking in the least.

Yeah I completely agree. They really had the potential to become bigger. They were big back in 2013/14 yes, but they had very big potential. I hate how he makes it sound like they're talentless hacks or whatever. Jake and Jinx are amazing guitar players. Their first two albums have very complicated and fast riffs. Over the years I've weirdly gone from being indifferent to Black Veil Brides to being a casual defender of them. Even if their sound and schtick get a bit repetitive at times, I can't really HATE it - it's escapism and theatre for sad, lonely kids and as someone who grew up on MCR I appreciate that even as an adult. Plus that whole 'Wretched and Divine' album is pretty good, most of their other albums have really solid and even fun guitar work, and Andy Black's lower, gritty voice is pretty different from your standard high-pitched 'emo' singer's that even their cheesiest lyrics feel powerful. mostly.

I saw them live with like 5 other bands in Tampa over a month ago and I think I remember listening to them and thinking "y'know they kinda look and sound like if Avenged Sevenfold went glam." They also finished with In The End which was also the only song I was mildly familiar with from them meanwhile I know most or all of the songs from everyone else aside from Godsmack which I only knew the ones from my childhood and unlike Three Days Grace, there weren't too many.

@@kaelanmcalpine2011 I saw them alongside INK and MIW at the Trinity of Terror tour a couple months ago. There's more variation and 'life' in their songs than on record, plus Andy Black's a cracking good frontman, even if I was wondering if he'd stop the show because he smudged his makeup.

Nickelback's debut was legitimately solid stuff. I don't like where they went from there, but that first album was goos. Saliva was really good at what they did, which was dumb mindless butt rock. They may do something kinda dumb, but they were great at it. Alien Ant Farm is a brilliant band and deserve waaaaaay more recognition. Every song on Ant Farm is great. Staind...Mudshovel. Still a great track. They were kinda like Saliva, the best in their niche. Hoobastank. Their debut album was genuinely good and is still enjoyable. They were never great, but you can't say they weren't good. Train...They had one or two other songs that were decent back in the day. Creed...My Own Prison and Human Clay were great albums and everyone loved them for a good reason. Maybe they went crazy later, but I will tell you (truthfully, I'm almost sure) that most people who hate them only started hating them during those first two albums was because it was the trendy thing to do and that's it.

When I saw "This Love", I thought that it was from Pantera, so I was about to have a heart attack, but then I saw that it was from Maroon 5, so it's ok. And honestly, I would put "Break Stuff" at no1, even if it has repetitive lyrics, and the band is arguably bad, it sounds good. Anyway, have a nice day!

I usually picked that one, and also "my own worst enemy" by Lit, my two favorite songs he had

Limp Bizkit isn´t a bad band. Only Fred Durst kinda destroys their art. I can´t say how good the instrumental section worked together. I´ve been always impressed by their sound and Wes Borland had the greatest costumes during this time. "Significant Other" and "Chocolate Starfish And The Hotdog Flavoured Water" are amazing. I ever wished a Durst-Mute-Button. And remember "Hold On" with Scott Weiland. A great song and even Durst was good there. Or "N Together Now" with Method Man. Or the "Nookie"- Sample in the beginning. The greatest Ringtone ever.

Bruh! Alien Ant Farm is a great band! Songs such as; Universe, S.S. Recognize, Tia Lupe, Echo Park, Rubber Mallet, Bad Morning, Nova Hands, Whisper, Courage, Wish, She's Only Evil, Dirty Bomb, Simpatico, are all fantastic tracks, along with most of their discography. Most people dismiss them because of the Smooth Criminal cover (which I hold in higher regard then the original but that's just my preference). They honestly have one of the most solid catalogues from all of the Nu-Metal/Alt. Metal bands of that era.
@BliboranBass

Wrote a similar comment and i completely agree. It's really a shame. Their musicianship is on another level than most of their contemporaries too. I kind of consider AAF like if Incubus kept more of that quirkiness and weirdness after Science when they wrote Make Yourself. Although i have to admit their last album was painfully inconsistent. The songs that sounded like them were amazing and the songs with clear cowrites were terrible (you listed all fantastic songs so you probably know exactly what I'm talking about). Like quality literally split down the middle for me lol
@ak4ben
@ak4ben 4 жыл бұрын
@@BliboranBass BliboranBass That is a pretty apt comparison my friend! The reason behind the inconsistency on the last album is due to it being in the works since 2011. The songs that are more akin to their style were written earlier (you can find some performances and early demos of Yellow Pages and Simpatico for example) and the songs that have strayed are later develops, which, yes left the album quite inconsistent and a bit generic in some instances. A lot of the songs have went through several different phases to appeal to current trends (although they came to late, like the main single "Let 'em Know" (I can't quite remember but I'm pretty sure that is the title haha) which had a dubstep influenced breakdown). While I did not mind the weaker songs personally as sometimes Pop songs can be a good palate cleanser (especially after listening to heavier and/or more experimental musical styles for a while) it is a shame that it turned out the way it did, which also resulted in The bassist Tye Zamora leaving too (whom was imo the best member). But alas it is what it is and we can only hope that the next record (which was in the process of being written before the pandemic) is much better regardless of the direction they take their music.
