I still remember the last game they came back 1-0 to win 2-1 against Costa Rica in the last match of qualifiers to knock out the U.S the first goal while lucky it was clean. The 2nd was an absolute robbery. The ball is not even in the goal. I'm not talking like a line dispute. I'm talking the balls is out of bounds to the side of goal outside of it and somehow they counted it as a goal. As U.S fan till this day dread the day U.S lost 2-1 against Trinidad with an Own goal and Honduras came back against Mexico 3-2 with the goofiest of goals just to lose against Australia or I forgot who in the intercontental draw.

Keep in mind for ‘06 the Serbia and Montenegro team had basically already disbanded to become separate entities but were allowed to enter as Serbia and Montenegro because thats how they qualified. If a team knows its being disbanded after a tournament its not a great motivator especially when you take pride out of it which would’ve been the case as the two nations split.
