So glad I’ve grown so much as a person in the last two years because this bad bumble date could’ve ended differently. From the complete abandonment of conversation to the incredibly brazen question he asks me at the end, I’m disappointed I didn’t leave sooner. But hey! It sure makes for one heck of a story.

Isn't it so exhausting?? Once I went on a date with a painfully nice guy who, in his desperation for conversational topics, wound up giving me a mini-lecture on Genghis Khan and the Silk Road. I kid you not. I felt so bad for him that I pretended that I'd learned something new that night. I'm so glad I asked for a coffee + pastry first date - at least he didn't pay for my dinner for nothing.

@@andrewwong8932 I agree, interviewing vibes are not pleasant. I'm a woman and if the conversation is only about asking eachother questions I feel like I'm unable to be myself and flow with him. A spontaneous question here and there is fine but dating is finding a genuine connection it's not a job application. To be so critical and judgmental from the start is a no go for me. I guess it's not about gender but character / communication style and taste.

The pets portion of the story reminded me of one of the worst Bumble dates I've been on. I met up with this girl for coffee and she lied about her age and looked nothing like her photos. That wasn't the worst part, she admitted she has 6 children and said "but we don't talk about them." and then randomly she told me she has over 300 pet fish and photos of each one. And proceeded to show me every fish. We finished our coffees and she said "well that was nice, but you didn't seem to own any fish so I don't like you, won't be talking to you again." And drove off.

Right , I was watching one who said "whatever, whatever" every other sentence. Then there was one who was trying to say "blah, blah" (meaning that someone was speaking aimlessly) but instead kept saying "blase', blase' ". I’ve been on bumble for a longgggg time like since it first came out and let me tell you, the quality of men that has been on there since I started versus now has gone downhill so much it’s not even funny. Like at this point people download these apps with the intention just to hook up completely disregarding the meaning of meeting new people just because and being inconsiderate to people that are seriously attempting to find a significant other. I once went on a date with a guy where all he did was stare at me and watch me eat. I basically interviewed him because he didn't talk at all, just stared at me, and I felt guilty that he payed for my food, but he insisted. It was strange. After, he just drove me back home in silence, while, I, again, talked to him. I tried to be really cheerful and happy in disposition and he was completely different in-person than he was when he was talking to me through text. THE STRANGEST DATE, I've EVER been on.

The more I hear such dating stories, the more I realize how blessed I am with my ability to start a conversation out of nothing, and keep it going for as long as I want... be it with a stranger at a gas station, or a date with an awkwardly quiet girl. I can break the ice with almost anybody, and sometimes I'm a chatter box. One time, I went on a date with a girl who wouldn't stop talking about herself, and I mean WOULD NOT STOP! And, every time I'd take that quick breath you take before you wanna say something, she'd go back at it again, before I can throw a word in. After 30 minutes of blowing my ears off, she has the audacity to say "So, are you gonna start talking or do I have to carry the conversation? Cause I've been carrying the conversation here, and it's kind of a turn off." Bro, what conversation!? It was just you talking, and I stopped listening after like 9 minutes. I had so many things to say during her 30-minute presentation, but she wouldn't stop talking. After she said this, my mind was blown away, she destroyed the vibe, and my level of attraction to her went from 90% to like 3%. I said "No, I have nothing to say to you, and I won't be turning you on." She then, out of the blue, became super flirty, and I mean SUPER. After our first and only date, I kept her as a friend, and a few months later she deleted me off her social media. That little weirdo. Btw, Jacy, you look a bit like Shakira.

Now, as a man, it use to amaze me how often I've heard women recalling the events of a date they were on, in where the guy said, or did something stupid, or crazy, or just plain horrific. I've heard so many over the years that it doesn't phase me anymore, but I still feel the need to ask the guy, "Dude! What were you thinking??!" Now, I'm sure I'm preaching to the choir when I say, continue to be patient when dating - Mr. Right is out there! With respect to how you approach dating, how fair you are, and how independent you come across, I'm sure your parents are very proud of you!! Yes, from an "interviewing" perspective, one would have to ask... "What was this guy even doing on a date, when he clearly wasn't involved in the date??!!" Based on his indecent ("Hail Mary" as you put it -LOl) proposal at the end of the date, to me it's clear that he was only there for a random, no strings attached, "booty call", while you were actively trying to seek a relationship! Thank you for telling this story! I have a problem with standing up for myself and I constantly make up excuses for the bad behavior of others, and I really shouldn't because those assholes know exactly what they are doing! In my mind I'm like "This is a one time, they didn't mean it..." but it just keeps happening and happening and since I don't make enough of a fuss about the horrible things they do they think that it's acceptable. Girl don’t beat yourself up , if you were in a situation where you were alone in a parking garage , and he has the audacity to ask you something like that, then he’s got something wrong with him. Let’s say you did the “you’re an asshole” and smack him and he gets violent with you. He clearly has no respect for women or people for that matter. I think you did the right thing just making an excuse to keep things light and got out of that situation okay. There are women who have been killed for rejecting a mans advances. Jacy it's too bad you're in California. I was brought up to respect women. to treat them with kindness. Did you realize he threw such a fit about paying for dinner and rolling his eyes he was trying to make you feel guilty. he had the mindset that you owed him. therefore, the bathroom request at the end. I know you probably felt safe with him, but never put yourself in a position like that with a person you just met. date rape is a very real possibility with a narcissist.
