@@bboi2229 I don't know how many people are 'expert' pet groomers, but this for sure is a groomer who is helping poor dogs get a better life. He is calm, friendly and he does the job. There will always be someone who can do it 'better', quicker or with more expensive material. For this dog this man made the difference.

I used to own a puli. One thing the vet told me when grooming one, leave the hair covering the eyes as they are extremely light sensitive. Beautiful dogs. Good work keep it up.

He wasn't terrified. He was sedated. Right when the doctor started plucking his ears he stated "he's coming out of it he'll be back on his feet." This tells you the dog was sedated.

I’m a former dog groomer and I shaved a dog that actually had maggots underneath the mats. It was horrible! Thank you for trapping and grooming this poor dog. I’m surprised your clippers didn’t overheat. Much respect to you sir!

@@lizrodriguez5671 I don't know if I can help but I used to be a groomer and a tech as well. If the maggots weren't too bad, they are usually helpful. They clean out the infection locally as bad as that sounds. It's disgusting and we hate them.. but they serve a purpose. They get flushed out, the wound gets cleaned and the dog can then be treated with antibiotics and creams. Usually everything heals ok. That's IF it's not a huge area. I did a Chow once that was COVERED in small ones head to toe. Worst thing I've ever seen.

I can’t imagine the stress this dog is enduring. Frightened, thirsty, hungry, in a place with other dogs whining and crying and it’s unable to defend itself in any way should he need to. They are like children unable to figure out what is going on and why. You’re doing these dogs a great thing. Freeing them from the matted dirty hair that’s encompassing them without a way to shed it. @Knight Skull I didn't mean to belittle Damjan, just point out, that since he is not a doctor or a vet, he is not trained to administer medicine. Doctors and vets can do some basic grooming, but the top-notch grooming jobs must be done by Damjan and his colleagues. I guess there are lessons by vets during the education, but a dog groomer can answer that question.

I can't imagine how this dog felt after this grooming! I know the sounds of discomfort are irritating to some people but the amount of relief felt by that dog after the fact was probably tremendous! Amazing job my guy!

I can’t tell you how relieved I was that he was a stray. It would have been even more heartbreaking if someone owned him and let him get in this state. I was wondering how you got him sedated then back to your place of work, thank you for answering that. My wife and I get on extremely well with our vet, but I doubt he’d allow me to groom a dog on his premises (even if I was a groomer). It shows the level of respect this vet has for you when he lets you do this. As a boomer I’m allowed to say that I bet your parents, or whoever is responsible for shaping you, are extremely proud of the young man they have brought up.

This wonderful man is from Serbia which is the area my family is from and the saddest thing is that there are so many strays there that are matted (hence why they have so many videos of matted dogs), also infested with fleas and have al sorts of diseases. It breaks my heart traveling there and seeing the literal hundreds of strays walking the streets

Good to know that dog is saved. I had a dog come to my door years ago that looked like that. She was so badly matted like that I wasn’t sure if she was a dog. She was so sweet and seemed as if she was asking for help. I did not get a cage. I got her food and water and sat quietly while she ate. She was very nice and trusting. She let me take her and go in my car to my vet. He had to put her under anesthesia to remove all of her fur with a surgical blade. She had a few sores on her skin from the mats pulling so tight. The vet said she was probably a poodle. White curly hair. She was skinny but not emaciated. Her teeth were great. No collar and time before chips. The vet vaccinated her. He said she looked around three years old. She seemed so grateful. I took it as she wanted to live with me which is where she lived the next ten years. I didn’t even think of sending her to a rescue. I don’t know that the town we were in back in the 80s even had rescues. She chose me, and was the sweetest little girl. Her hair came in fast, wounds healed, and she gained her weight to normal. She was beautiful and I was so lucky she chose me. We slept together. She loved my kids. Seeing this dog took me back to her…such a similar appearance. I’m glad to hear this soul found a new home and hope they keep it groomed as needed so it never gets in that fur condition again.

i'm not a big fan of sedation for pets, but in this case i can see it was absolutely necessary. it kept the groomer safe and made it far less stressful for the terrified dog. it makes my heart happy when i see an animal being saved. damjan, you are an angel on this earth; a pet angel. thank you for everything you do.

Good job cutting this matted mess. I've done several like that when I volunteered at an animal shelter. I could never understand how anyone could let a dog go that way. It takes a very long time to clean up a matted mess like that. Thank you for helping him!
