The Worst Exhaust For The Civic Type R - Tomei Expreme Ti

I might've waited a year and a half for the most clapped Tomei of all time...

For everyone here who is looking to get the exhaust hangers off. White lithium or Silicone grease works great, the white crap or clear crap. a flat head and the little silicone will work wonders on sliding those exhausts off. Plus the Sil-Glide stuff works in a temp range of 500 - 3000 degrees, safe for the exhaust heat and the rubber bushings won't degrade. As for the tomei... fk8 tomei's are made by tomei USA not Japan, I guess the stuff that comes from Japan is packaged a whole lot better. The tomei has lots of drone and is very loud. However, it comes with a tailpipe silencer that does a decent job of removing much of the painful drone. I will say with a factory cat and the dual muffler, it is tasteful and enjoyable in my opinion. I have the Type R style and purchased the single exit muffler after the fact. No regrets. I still love my Tomei, the weight savings are certainly noticeable when combined with lightweight wheels you can shed almost 100 lbs on your FK8.

@@josep2161 it is day and night! the tomei is still a loud exhaust but resonator, muffler and the silencer makes long drives not an ear sore

Large channel lock pliers work well on exhaust hangers. WD-40 always.

shipping damage is the fault of the shipper/vendor (insufficient packing) and the carrier (careless package handling). for a person who seems to do a lot of exhaust installs, your methods need some work.

@@KevinTa02 hanger pliers are a must, if even only for 1 job; they make it so much easier....so why was it the most horrible exhaust again? looks or sound?

Just a play on words because this particular one came damaged (waited 14 months for backorder) and it was a PITA hammering all the slip joints to make the pieces fit as it should. Not a big deal but when you pay 2 grand and wait so long you wouldn’t want to tolerate inconveniences like this.

im ngl, this exhaust setup sounds almost identical to my 10th gen LX except I got a flowmaster DBX replacing my resonator and I deleted my box muffler. Very Nice👍

@@KevinTa02 gotcha its just that I ordered a wrong set and got a dual reso on my r1's so it sounds just like oem on cold start and the only time it gets loud is when your going over 50. i like the exhaust dont get me wrong i just ordered the wrong set hjahaha lets go for a cruise this summer bro

Late to comment but I just received my Tomei Type D for my FL5 and the box arrived undamaged and everything inside was well packaged with lots of bubble wrap and cardboard around all the pieces. From the earlier comment about the box arriving crushed, that sounds like a major shipper failure and not something that would happen even with the normal abusive handling of packages. Don't let the click-bait title and first part of this video deter you from ordering this exhaust.

@@speedrocker13 Title is just my personal opinion. In my opinion, it is the worst exhaust I could have bought. I prefer flanged > slip joint connections. The tomei is cheaper quality mass produced titanium, and it has a disgusting amount of rasp past 3000 rpms (don’t even want to know what it would sound like if you had a downpipe.) The silencers are also terrible to bolt in. The damaged package was just icing on top for the title. I like the weight savings with titanium, but now i’d have gone with a Rampage catback, boost logic valved or even other stainless steel options. Again, this is just my personal opinion. Can’t speak for everyone, but I got sick of my tomei VERY fast.

@@KevinTa02 Everyone has their own taste for sure when it comes to exhaust sound. I was mainly pointing out that the damaged package is a reflection on the shipper and not of Tomei. From what I see, the material quality, welds and fitment on the Tomei are extremely good. My silencers will stay in their plastic bags and stores away somewhere never to be installed, so I can't speak to that specifically but yeah since they predrilled one hole, they should have predrilled them all so it was purely a bolt on process. I wish they didn't drill the one hole since it's offset from the center which seems intentional but confusing to me from an aesthetic perspective.

Damn brother. I’m looking into the same exhaust for my Type R. Is it obnoxious on the road though? I do alot of roadtrips so I don’t want the exhaust to be too damn loud when I’m crusing on the highway. (I usually got people in my backseats)

The drone is really bad at highway cruising speed, I think my ears would bleed after an hour. I’d probably recommend HKS or Blitz. I’ve heard both of those have close to no drone. (Blitz is a little louder than HKS.)

I just ordered the piper cross from the UK, with a prl titanium inlet pipe, this is the loudest setup I have heard!
