What kind of education is in the US? Schools here in UKRAINE ( a country in the middle of a war with russia) seems to be better from what i see.
@ryzec7942 күн бұрын
@@Sam-h6u9d They don't teach you virtually anything about historical events like this one until much later on, like college level. Honestly it's probably why there's a stereotype surrounding Americans not knowing a thing about world geography and history

@@ryzec794 dude, in ukraine we litterally learned every bit about hannibal in 6th grade. I watched the vid to see how accurate it is. Not to mention, I used to be a history teacher.

One of Hannibal's greatest achievements was getting so many different groups of people to work so cohesively. He had a lot of language and cultural barriers to work through and did it like an absolute chad.

The Carthaginians came across the Alps with some riding on ELEPHANTS, in Europe, where there def aren't any just wandering about. It's sometimes stated but even then, seems to get glossed over as completely normal. Did they ship them over from Africa? Seems a lot of work back then to get them here when you could just use horses like everyone else.
@FlyingFly952 күн бұрын
War Elephants were a big part of carthage's military, and indeed it was a lot of work to get them to Iberia and then over the Alps, there are several instances where elephants caused many carthagian deaths due to their immense size and panic at times - mainly during the crossing of the Rhine and crossing over narrower parts of the the mountain trek. Ultimately it was definetly worth it to bring them along, but unfortunately their effecitvenes was diminished when they arrived in Italy as some had died and the rest were troubled (there were initially 37). pls forgive me if I've got anything wrong in there...

Oh I know i just left a comment like a moment ago but I wanted to suggest a video idea! Would you ever talk about the history of the Blue LED light? I know that doesn't sound interesting but I think its something cool and fun to talk about. Even more so since the inventor is still alive I believe. I think the story of the Blue LED light is a really important lesson about not giving up and following your gut when you know you are right about something. Anyway thanks again for the great video!

I became fascinated with the Punic Wars after watching LOTR as a kid and later finding out Hannibal used elephants. Shit was awesome to learn about as a kid. Until you find out the elephants probably didnt really help cause they would be terrified. Also, Hannibal was gone for years during this campaign and because of this a lot of his political allies back in Carthage turned on him and began doubting him.

Yeah no, when other students were learning about the Punic Wars, my 9th-grade NY public school, HONORS class, Global History teacher- played the movie 300 on a CRT. And then we went BACK to Egypt. Because any of that was a valid way to teach teenagers about history. But hey, I get to learn it now.
