Easy World Record How-To -Watch Tool-Assisted Speedrun of Mario. -Stare at the screen, pressing buttons on a controller that isn't plugged in. -Mess with the audio to hide the sins. -Sigh deeply and play it up every time a level completes. -Hope to GOD that the editors know what they're doing (they don't). Also Karl Jobst does a great job at finding/exposing these cheaters/fakers when it comes to Speedrunning.

The fact that some people are so stupid, that they think people in the past stole footage from a recently-uploaded video (at the time) is astounding and terrifying.

Hey Jack, latino here Badabun it's a well know "company" that specializes in making scensacionalist videos just for the clicks and nobody likes em. Tavo, the "runner" is just an actor

There’s another great (terrible?) fake speedrun of blindfolded Super Mario 64, where the guy had the most half-assed fake blindfold ever. I don’t remember who it was, but I remember that MoistCr1tikal did a video about it.

Karl is amazing at speedrun content in general, he’s deep into the scene and can elaborate on all the tricks of the trade. He’s also fully prepared to call out cheaters himself if he feels it’s needed, and will go all the way to court to defend his statements if the other party pushes it that far, precisely because of how much he respects the art of speedrunning.

Karl has some great speedrunning-related videos, breakdowns of extreme challenges and records, and his perspective as one of the OG speedrunners adds a lot to his explanations. And I agree the cosmic ray theory of the clocktower upwarp was a fun explanation, the actual explanation of the guys 64 and cartridge being filthy and bugging out is way less interesting, but the fact that the whole theory came from a random youtube comment that was parroted by a random news site that was itself parroted by Veritasium is kinda neat, fascinating to see how these urban legends generate.

There's another video about the mario 64 cosmic ray glitch, and it turns out it wasn't likely to be a cosmic ray, and more likely to be a problem with the cartridge connection. The video it's called "The Biggest Myth in Speedrunning History".

Rest assured, as a Mexican, I can tell you that the Spanish-speaking community (or at least the respectable ones) despise Badabun, their content, and are well aware this is fake. There's even a guy who parodied the "speedrun", you should check it out off-camera.

been watching speedrunning for over a decade. no real speed runner would eat or drink anything while doing a run. especially a greasy food like pizza that can screw up your inputs, when literally every second is important. and that's just one of the many many things wrong with this "run"

@@lolyungmulaBABY The combination of TAS and the spliced run. understand what im saying?
@lolyungmulaBABY10 ай бұрын
@@TheSweatman TAS is Tool-Assisted-Speedrun, which is computer software designed to test speed runs. TAS is used find the theoretical limit/optimizations of games/speedruns. A splice is editing multiple clips together from separate runs to make it appear to be a single recording. This “speedrunner” took recordings from previous “TAS runs” & other professional speedrunners, spliced those clips together, then pretended to game as the clips played. No part of his “run” was piloted by him, he is merely acting.
@TheSweatman10 ай бұрын
@@lolyungmulaBABYSo basically he overlayed different runs of actual pros with his own TAS speedrun bar on top, in order to make it seem more realistic when it actually ruined his chances of making it look realisistic because the bar on top now doesnt corrolate to the run.
