But I figured we could at least let the calendar be defined by the birth for this quote, like it's intended to. That would make it year 1 AD. Normally, I'd also use CE instead of AD, but AD made sense for the context.

Eh from what I've read she was born in 18 BC so she would have been somewhere from 17-19 at the time. This all depends on a lot of data that doesn't come from the Bible, because the Bible doesn't actually mention the exact date Jesus and certainly not when his mother were born. Basically it's a bunch of stuff like Herod the Great was on the throne shortly before, and it happened during the census of Quirinius which would have given a time frame for people back then but is confusing as heck nowadays, especially seeing as we use a calendar that wasn't invented until several hundred years later. Best guess we got is that Jesus started his ministry in 28-29 AD based on various sources, and that he was about thirty when he did so. This means that he was born at about 1 BC - 1 AD and therefore Mary would have been about 18 if the traditional Catholic date of September 8th, 18 BC is correct. (based on the Catholic holiday of the Nativity of Mary). That being said going off of some scholars Jesus may have been born earlier than that at around 6 - 4 BC. Meaning Mary would have been anywhere from 12 (like you said) to 16. However those dates are more on the extreme end and still rely on the Catholic tradition being correct about the birth date of Mary. Also, getting married that young was not unheard of at the time and was fairly common, so it's not a stretch of the imagination to think Mary would be that young, so it's entirely possible your correct. TL;DR You might be correct or you might not. And yes I did just research all of this for a KZbin comment because I like researching stuff. :P
