While rehousing my OBT for the first time this weekend, one of the rubber tips from my tongs fell off into it's new enclosure. Time I noticed this, it had webbed it up. Of all places to start its web, it had to pick the rubber. Seeing your tongs reminded me of this.

Try keeping her on a thicker layer of substrate. My N. tripepii mellowed out since I'm keeping her on 6 - 8 " of dirt for her to play in. This T gets really grumpy and defensive when she cannot hide in an underground burrow.

I almost picked a Nhandu tripepii as a freebie when I was buying tarantulas a few months back, but after I researched the species and learned that they're big hair-kickers I decided that as a new tarantula keeper I should pick something more mild-mannered. They're beautiful though!

Hi Kat. I love the way you look after your beasties. I came across your site one day & was fascinated. I thought at first you were a little weird for keeping tarantulas, but then I realized its a true hobby & has many devoted fans & keepers all over the world.I love Petko too. You both look after your animals so beautifully. I'm even learning a new language: "bolty" & "slings". I wondered why on earth babies are called slings. But I soon worked it out (because I am so intelligent!) It just takes too long to say "spiderlings" Love the Latin names of the tarantulas also, that you rattle off so easily!May all your animals stay healthy for a very long time. I live in New Zealand. We only have one venomous spider here & thats the katipo spider. It looks like a black widow with a red stripe down its back. They live in grass & logs in sand dunes. I've only seen one in museum collection. Regards, Nora.

Also, completely unrelated, hamsters really love Eco Earth coconut fiber! I use it in my mouse enclosure and my girls love digging and foraging for food in it! I just separate a part of their cage of and fill in with Eco Earth. Its great enrichment for them! 💜

Nice video! You did great! I’m starting with T’s again after 15 years. I had an adult Chilean rosehair. My boyfriend at the time gave it to me for Valentine’s Day. There wasn’t internet so I got a care book. She lived about 5 years. Idk how old she was when I got her. Times have changed! So many species! And ordering slings online! This has become a great hobby for me during COVID! I’m a early retired veterinary technician. I was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis and forced into early retirement. I can actually care for tarantulas! Not physically demanding! So I have watched (more like binge watched) your videos! Also other tarantula videos and am excited! We used to have a reptile swap out here every month. I want to go to one! I’m hoping this year there will be some shows at least.

I just got a P. Machala! Mine doesn’t kick much hair and is pretty brave over all. However she is bolty and will attack anything that moves because it might be food. I have no idea if my videos will ever get the attention yours do but I just have to say I aspire to be as good as you with all of my spideys ❤ You seem to be a very wonderful human being and I’m so glad to see another female that loves spiders. I love them so so so much and I have literally cried when I saw them get stepped on because of somebody who doesn’t understand the lack of threat. It breaks my heart how the first thing people say when seeing these eight legged creatures is “KILL IT” Ugh. Makes me more than sad. It makes me angry. Education is key. Spiders are not the threat people make them out to be. Well I’ll wrap this up!! Hope to see so much more :)

Maybe put a layer of gravel with mesh over it at the bottom of the enclosure then put clear or glass straws (so it doesn't show that badly)in the corners gets air flow under the gravel going up keeps the mold at bay i found out for sure 🤞👌
