Torquay is a lovely place. Its easy to find faults. Your 3 meals were at a leisure centre a spoons and a pizza takeaway. Poor choices but you knew that. The town center is like most towns, empty shops and charity, vape, betting shops filling the void. Your hotel looked like it was a asylum place when i passed last june. Its a dump. Id rather have slept in the car. Go back and do positive reviews. 👍

@carlheald9228 poor choices were the best choices for the experience I was after. The hotel was awful. The video doesn't show just how bad it was. I have stayed in some dumps, but that place was up there! 😂 After the experience, I am enjoyimg the positive reviews, for now. 😁

Of course Torquay is touristy, its probably the tourists that keep it going. On a summers day if you can put up with the holiday makers it’s quite a nice place to walk around. The town is like all the others all over the country with lots of empty shops. A few years ago when most of the empty shops were trading it was quite nice. Sadly it’s gone down the pan like many other towns and cities. The town where I live is much worse than Torquay!

I went to Torquay on a five day coach tour, it was the Best Holiday I've Ever had ❤❤ Along with my daughter who was 14 years old , and my parents, it was awful being on a coach trip that took eight hours to get there 😊 I live in a Norfolk town in England 🌹 This Hotel was called "Ashlly Court Hotel" It was a Very Happy five day's... I loved the rooms we stayed in..the food was plenty ❤and lots of it was cooked so beautiful and tasty, the Staff were very affectionate and Nothing was to much to ask for... I would love to live there but alas I couldn't afford to... when I'm having a bad day I think of All the fun we had .. I take a look on there web page Just to see if it's the same, they were doing a rey fur at the time, I can't believe the Horrible comments they have left 😤😡 you genuinely get what you paid for...if you were expecting high end for the price, then you shouldn't show stupid comments and photos etc...I love this hotel and enjoyed every second of it...❤❤❤😢 Hopefully I will get there again soon I hope 🤞🤞🙏🙏✊✊😸😸✌️💖💖💂🇬🇧🌹🍒

I did my research before I went. Every place I visited was at the bottom of the traveller rankings on trip advisor. Are you going to visit that site and tell every reviewer that you disagree with their reviews too?

Like so many of our towns in Britain and sea-side resorts, Torquay is a shadow of the place it once was. I lived in the area for a couple of years not that long ago, and frequented all three of the resort towns in Torbay. I was shocked at the demise of Torquay. It was full of drug addicts rolling about on the grass areas, homeless people sleeping in the doorways of what were once nice shops. The main shopping area, the high street was very disappointing. I stayed in Torquay many years ago for a holiday, and I did not recognise the place. The sea views etc are as lovely as ever, but living in Torbay was not that great frankly. Nice walks, but a general air of decay. Even quaint little Brixham was not so nice as it was 30+ years ago. It's got its yobs just like anywhere else. Torquay of the three Torbay resorts USED to be perceived as the 'posh' one. It's certainly not posh anymore.

yes sadly all seaside towns are not as they were but its the same all over uk Torquay was the place of the rich in its hay day indeed it was ❤used to go Torbay on Holiday now the shopping area is sadly run down its lovely on the Harbour there are some sad drab Hotels have stayed in one years ago 😮 we always went self catering with mum and Dad and stayed in many Holiday caravans and cottages in paignton a few Apartments in Torquay and pontins Holiday camps in the 70s the posh expensive place in south west is Salcombe place of yaughts Dartmouth interesting very nice ❤ i live in Newton Abbot ❤nice little Market Town but come from Plymouth Brixham is not like it was when it was my Dads favourite Holiday place The World is changeing sadly for the worst

@thenanlife1141 there are probably some really nice hotels there. The street my hotel was in had some lovely looking hotels. This one is well known. The bad reviews online are plentiful.

I live in Torquay there are some posh parts but on the whole needs massive regeneration. We do have issues with homeless begging - the town’s very run down. We are moving to Market Harborough in Leicestershire.

@alisonruddock4010 I said on the video that the hotel was £30 for the night. Regardless of price, you would expect it to be cleaner than it was. I make no secrets of what I paid. Breakfast was £9, Lunch Was £8.95 plus the drink, and The pizza was £15. 😁

It's a very budget hotel chain. We had the misfortune to stay one night in London with the same Co because we were on a tight budget. There are plenty of fantastic places to stay across Torbay & many great places to eat for a range of budgets. The "rough" shopping centre has been recently purchased by the council & will no doubt be fully refurbished when they have finished the multi million pound seafront road development around the corner. IWeve been Torbay residents for 8 years Our tourist season starts building from March & extends until Christmas. Four brand new hotels opened across Torbay inc Hilton, Ibis, & Premier since the pandemic & more investment to come. We love living here. Sorry you've sought such a negative experience.

@andrewbrazier9664 Some of the hotels and restaurants I saw while I was there looked fantastic. I was looking for the worst hotel in Devon, and at the time, it just happened to be in Torquay. In different circumstances I am sure I could have had a lovely stay in the town. 😁

@DoingitwithRich In 2024 South West hospitality was reportedly 15% down. The property you stayed at is not representative of the value at all price points that is available across Torbay. There are similar cheap & poorly maintained properties in every town & city that serve a particular clientele. Spoons knows it's customer base & food offerings are universal across UK although pricing is regional. The GG does have higher staffing levels in main season as does their totally refurbished & extended Talk of the Town in Paignton. So tables can be cleared & cleaned more quickly. Right now uk tourism needs your positively not negative reviews. The hotel my wife is employed at is kept spotless.

The Channel 4 documentary The Hotel was filmed at the Abbey Sands Hotel next door, named The Grosvenor at the time - Mark Jenkins the hotel owner that featured in the programme owned Inglewood too!

Absolute crap video, tells you nothing about Torquay. There is good and bad everywhere. We regularly have coffee at The Grand Hotel, it is very dated but has two excellent young girls in the bar. They always serve us and it is their super service and personality that keeps us returning.....they also have a Scottish woman, who walks off, if a customer approaches, we avoid her like the plague. Just bloody lazy! ❤😊

The aim of this video was to experience the worst rated places in the town. There are some lovely looking hotels on Abbey road, but I wanted to see if the bad reviews were justified in the places I visited. I recently went back to eat at the pier point chippy. Not bad food at all. 😁

@JasonThomas-u9p It's a beautiful place, and some of the hotels are great. I think it's possible to find a dark side to most places if you look for it. Regardless of the food and the accommodation, I actually enjoyed my 24 hours there. Well worth a visit. 😁

Seems like you have gone out of your way to make a very misleading video! Shame on you! Inconsistant camera angles make it look really bad and you picked a really wintery day to film which only added to this VERY MISLEADING VIDEO! Also you can't make comments about the town centre being empty whilst showing a video of not the town centre but the seafront heading out of town! If you had carried on walking for just a short while longer you would have been in Paignton! You never even showed a video of the actual town centre just misleading shots of fleetwalk and the harbourside which to be fair is jam packed and much enjoyed by tourists in the sunny summer months! As for the hotel...no idea why you thought it was a good idea to book into a £30 a night hotel and expect anything better! There are hundreds of lovely hotels to stay at in torquay! I suggest you stop being such a misery guts, stop trying to make towns look bad and do an honest nice review! As for the food....try a nice cafe or restaurant not a swimming pool or wetherspoons! The choices you make and the money you spend reflects the level of service you are going to get! everybody knows that! In all the years I've watched KZbin this is only the second time I have been compelled to leave a bad comment so well done to you for getting peoples backs up! Do you feel good about yourself now! Try making nice videos and spreading a little joy in the world....maybe more people would watch and like your videos. As for me it's a one and done!

@annetteboon5150 if you watched, and listened to me on the video you would see that I purposefully sought out the worst rated places for this particular video. I wasn't judging the town, I was experiencing the worst of the town. I said more than once that there were some nice hotels and restaurants in the town. In fact, I went back last week to review the pier point chippy because I had heard great things about it. Maybe check my other videos and see that I do nice positive reviews too. As for my misleading use of camera angles, you are giving my camera skills far more credit than I deserve 😂😂. Thanks for watching though. 😁
