That's a good question. And yes, the writing as well as the execution. There are cases where the concepts are pretty cool and interesting but not executed well. There should be a balance somewhat, but the core will always be the writing and story. Good art can be easily wasted on a nonsensical storyline.

Writing is indeed the most important since it provides a meaning to fully develop and express ideas and concepts as long as it's well written and well executed.
