Two things in particular that I didn't like about the BF3 version compared to the BF2 version: (1) flags A, B, and D didn't have a lot of cover making them hard to defend against the RU team and (2) APCs were significantly stronger in BF3 to the point that they beat tanks out in the open assuming ideal perk set up. Unrelated note but I hated Thermals in BF4. Not only are they much better (heat signature lights up like a Christmas tree) but there's basically no trade off for equipping it unlike in BF3 (Thermal sights vs IR smoke).

In defense of BF4's Oman, the vehicle problem is not nearly as bad as Laser designation in BF4 is 10x better then BF3s, even a singular javelin on a lock can shutdown half the maps armor easily

Hot take: It is sometimes fun to be a pleb with the boys to soflam from oman rooftops, Dragon pass mountains, sniper from rouge antenna etc. They are also "only in bf moments".

Thermals and APS should never have been on tanks in this game, period. The fact that you have a tool that makes mines instantly useless and one granting an automatic godmode with 0 effort is mind boggling.

The thing that could save the US team on a allcap would be the air assets but no DICE had to put two F-35 that can't do shit against ground vehicles instead of at least one A-10 but even if they did had an A-10 it wouldn't probably matter because of the sandstorm that start as little as 50 tickets into the round and doesn't end ever

This map is horrid. I was in a attack boat trying to help defend the four objectives on the beach I had 4 fuvking tanks shooting at me! once I died we somehow managed to take back the four objectives on the beach and pushed up to RU teams objectives, but what makes it even more unbalanced is we were going uphill with heaps of enemy infantry camping on hills and inside the towers face that with never ending amounts of tanks, and the sandstorm right in your face

I agree. BF2 was mostly fun, when it was not one sided. But I doubt the Gulf of Oman was that much played in BF3 that they HAD to make another one. :(

BF3 Gulf of Oman was the best iteration of the map in my opinion, I loved playing long range in that map and air gameplay and vehicle gameplay were also fun

From an Elite Jihadist's prospective, Gulf of Oman is poopoo as well. Can't see your targets usually anyways but makes it to where if no one is spotting vehicles (rare that they are) it's basically impossible to Jihad due to vision. Since Jeeps and Bikes don't get Thermals. I would honestly rather use the Transport Chopper for Infil/Jihad combo's because that Transport is only staying up long enough to reach maybe half way inland. The Toe's and AH and Jets are going to shred it after that.

In all my years of playing this map on console the only bad thing I could come up with is that the map was made for vehicles, not for infantry. Which I am personally fine with as it is just a choice the devs have to make, although I wasn't good at playing with tanks and such. It seems in general that on pc the same things happen as on console but they're extremely oversaturated compared to the same things on console.

I thoroughly enjoy the BF4 Gulf of Oman, especially on the US team. Since there are so many Russian vehicles, I get loads of vehicle kills using either the boat's TV guided missiles or the F35's air to ground missiles. Definitely my best air to ground map. Edit: Oh yeah, and I love the sandstorm weather effects as well.

@@vasilzahariev5741 As with ANY Battlefield game, There are 3 tiers of maps - BAD, Average, and GREAT. In my opinion, BF4 has one of largest groups of average maps, and very few maps of either great or bad...but they are there. Propaganda, Zavod, Firestorm, and Outbreak are the only group from BF4 i would call great maps, though Firestorm and Zavod walk a fine line sometimes. That isnt to say that some maps dont come close - Hammerhead, Pearl, Guilin, and Dawnbreaker do, but they are very conditional.

Okay, well it is probably true what you said about balance, even if I never noticed not being able to win due to starting on the US side. And since there were only 4 of us in our squad, we often cared very little about actually winning the maps, if the rest of the team were lobotomites. Balance or not, the design and the feel of the map made it appear the most in our map rotation because everyone liked it, But sure, worst map ever. And btw on hardcore vehicles didn't last THAT long ever :D
