I think in the modern day people are more adverse to advertisements and marketing. I think this is why campaigns are failing more now. Its been shoved down or throats to much now. I think it's the knee jerk moment when an ad pops up and you automatically ignore or be annoyed by it then immediately do whatever you can to skip it as fast as possible.
@_sandy_2 күн бұрын
that's definitely an interesting flip side of all of marketing. it's extremely rare that i actually pay attention to or don't skip an ad. it has to be extremely relevant to me personally, for me to not do that.

not an apple user but i understood the motive behind that hidraulic press ad, they're not crushing creative objects to show how thin the new ipad is, it's just a way to visualize how all those creative objects can fit inside an ipad. ipads in the professional field are most used by artists, be it visual artists or musicians and they wanted to show that you could do all of that on the ipad

I wanna comment on the BMW ads. Those all look like very European ads, that don‘t usually play into the cool stereotype, and stick more to functionality, driving experience and luxury. The Mercedes comparison shows a lot more big, less sleek cars that aren’t gonna be very popular in Europe and that play more into the American big car cool trope. I don’t know which ads you’re comparing but this might just be a cultural difference and different target audiences.
@shadxw628116 күн бұрын
I agree, the BMW ads exuded more classiness and refined but quiet luxury compared to the more grungy, pop culture Mercedes ads. I felt much more inclined to buy a BMW than a Mercedes after seeing this comparison

I am so glad that you touched on how much nike basketball has fallen off in a way. I bring this up to my friends and family pretty frequently (even tho none of them care😂😂) I grew up playing basketball in the 2000s/2010s, something i consider to be the golden era of nike hoops. It really bothers me how bad the shoes are these days coming from the era with hyperdunks, hyperfuse, lebrons, kds, kobe’s, kyrie. Lacing these shoes up made hoopers want to hoop. I don’t get the same feeling when I look at the hoops shoes these days besides the sabrina’s & it’s disappointing

Re: Nike. I was a college athlete in mid-2000s, doing a niche sport, sponsored by a competitor sportswear company. Then Nike signed a master contract with the full company, making all the sports wear their gear. Their gear was a massive downgrade from our prior sponsor. They've been producing sub-par, $hitty product for years now, and they're finally running out of areas where their marketing department can goose them to higher sales. Nike's strength hasn't been product for ages.

I had a question and some ideas as a marketing student I’d appreciate your insight on! On - How prevalent is Stan culture and how big is Zendaya period to the point it doesn’t really matter if she runs Ex: Many popular fashion brands have been incorporating figures like Giancarlo or “Gus” from Breaking Bad into their brand campaigns without any real fit with brand identity with great success and reception. Do you think Zendaya’s audience is unable to mimic this and if not what exactly is the difference that allows for MSCHF to work but not On, is it established brand identity? To top it off last real question, is this a failure in regard to attention/notoriety or sales because the campaign has been pretty well received by her audience and the On brand has made its way into brick and mortar shoe stores in the last 2 years so how did it fail particularly? Coca Cola Is this just an attempt that couldn’t turn the tide of a dying industry? Or a failure on all fronts?
@orenmeetsworld21 күн бұрын
Stan culture is big enough that On prob got their moneys worth either way. Would sure be nice if was more aligned tho (and would drive even more sales if she was genuine about it and bringing it into her real life) Coke just a fail all around

The north face strategy really wasnt it. There are some tiktok creators who have great videos they couldve used for inspo. Mountaineering is taking off, which is where I would’ve leaned into since it took off during the summer and winter was coming which was the perfect timing for when (as it seems to me) they planned this campaign. They couldve tapped into the hobbies/sports their gear is made for for the visuals. They had so many emotions they could tap into for their ads and messages and they chose nothing. It just falls flat compared to what it could be as it has a good starting point (societal placement, big market appeal). Now apparel-wise they couldve seen what’s doing well as people on tiktok are doing tier lists, the comment sections are full of immense info, and it’s free and out there, you just need a week to get a good algorithm set up that will give you all the vids that are doing well and someone who has a feel for aesthetics to comb through them and set up a look.
