I mean I kind of hate Viserys reprimanding Rhaenyra to marry for duty and the Realm, Sure Aemma was an Arryn and had a Targaryen Mother, but Alicent was the the daughter of a second son who had no actual lands or titles of their own, so he either married for Lust or Love. And also Both Rhaenyra and Laenor stated that they tried to have a baby but nothing worked and I still don't fully understand this as a man can be gay but still have kids they just don't enjoy the physical side of the relationship.

Too many knowns and unknowns in this dilemma. But for sure sending her own son to Storm's end? Not the brightest of ideas. At least not at that time. But Rhaenyra should not have Aegon being Viserys' heir. That's really where all of this started. But you've got young, privileged powerful people caught up in their own pride and passions. The whole of it is just one big, gigantic mess. Mainly none of this actually falls on Rhaenyra it actually falls on her father for not really having the backbone he should've to simply un name here as heir. What they were dealing with went far beyond their interpersonal familial matters. The realm simply wasn't going to allow her to be heir and even though the whole gender bias thing may be wrong it's more the will of the people that is way more powerful than any king or queen. Viserys messed all this up by being rebellious himself. All he had to do was reverse the decision, apologize to his daughter and let the chips fall where they may.

1st mistake was her father marrying alicent. That was her best friend and it was super clear what otto was trying to do. He preached about duty of marriage and he should have married for alliance. He never un-named rhaenyra and alicent became so obsessed with HER son on the throne. Alicent was giving the king so much milk of the poppy and he still didn't un-name rhaenyra. Alicent KNEW the king's wishes but her father corruption rubbed off on her. I also think she was incredibly jealous that rhaenyra got passionate lovers, while she did not. I think the only real mistake rhaenyra made was having kids with the strong man. I know leanor was gay, but they should have tried everything and kept trying. She eventually married daemon and had kids, so those were legitimate. Sending luke wasn't smart but he died because of aemond. The Hightowers started the war by usurping rhaenyra's throne.
