Jennette mccurdy is a great example of some children's reaction to abuse. Jennette saw her mom as wonderful and only trying to help her when everything her mom did was abuse and for selfish reasons. It took her a very long time to realize what her mom did was wrong. I think this girl is going through the same thing..

As a person who is a victim of phyiscal and verbal abuse from my own mother, the moment i saw the child agree with her mother is the moment i knew it was an abusive relationship. I know its a shot in the dark, but when i was younger, i was completely oblivious to the fact that i was being abused, and thought it was just punishment or discipline, when i found out it completely changed me as a person and now i want nothing to do with my mother or family - since they're aware of it and allow it to happen. I don't know if the girl believes in what she is saying or not. I used to believe that some of the stuff my parents were doing was normal because they made me believe it (and abuse is normalised way too much). When I was about 6, I witnessed my dad attempt to cut my older sisters hair with scissors as some sort of punishment. It was quite a violent act since my sister tried to resist. She ended up with bleeding cuts up and down her forearms and chunks of hair missing. It’s sad when you grow up thinking those type of things are normal. Everything hit me pretty hard when I started to self reflect as an adult. I hope for this child’s sake, the mom tries to understand abuse and it’s many different forms. Public shaming aside, forcefully changing your child's appearance against their will is abuse and teaches them that people are allowed to do whatever they want to them. Duude this is so traumatic and humiliating for this child. I remember being like 12 years old and crying from frustration bc I was struggling very hard cleaning my room. It seems dumb but it felt like a monumental task at the time. My mom came in with her phone and started recording me, laughing at me, and threatening to post it on Facebook. Nearly 15 years later that's still a traumatic memory for me. I can't imagine something like that happening and then actually posting it on tiktok. Her kid might say she's fine(she doesn't sound fine at all) that event will likely stick with her for her entire life. What that mother did shows an utter lack of respect for her kid and her autonomy. It's just gross.

I have never once met somebody who wasn't abusive who controlled their child's hair. Keeping the hair as healthy as possible is one thing, but demanding you have control and poession over your child's hair is just such as weird tactic I've personally seen abusers do.

It’s always very obvious when a parent is jealous of their child. I think that jealousy on the moms part plays a huge role in how she treats her daughter. Notice when she says “this is my baby, this is ME.” I was like yikes, something felt off about that comment.

and especially with her daughters hair type, it doesn't grow as fast and easy as common hair types which means it probably makes it even sadder since it will take a while to grow out. Even if she had hair that grows back fairly fast, I would be absolutely DEVASTATED.

The way she was talking about her daughter being her "identical twin" when she's not was so off putting. Even worse when she was talking " thats my daughter. That is me, she is me. " as if her daughter was a extention of herself... what tells me that this is more about jealousy than wanting her daughter off of tiktok is the fact that she literally put her daughter on tiktok herself humiliating her 😐 like what- the 'consequence' for what her daughter was doing was completely hypocritical of the action she got in trouble for in the first place.

“You don’t know the bond I have with my kid” is what my parent claimed around the block for years…years ago before I moved out of the country and stopped speaking to her. Sometimes a kid isn’t screaming and crying not because they are fine, but because they are afraid of “making parent look bad” Add that she’s still a kid, she probably is actually laughing but in ten years she is gonna look back and be like “why did my mother actually do that? Why didn’t I say something? Why wasn’t I as angry about it then as I am now?”

There was this kid in 1st grade who made fun of someone with cancer and his parents shaved his head bald and he gut bullied for it for quite some time. but to be honest the kid went from "bully" to a very understanding and nice kid VERY quickly.

See that seems like maybe the only time something like that _would_ make sense, because the punishment directly relates to the offense. It's not just a ploy for control, it's "how about you experience, in a less permanent way, what you were bullying someone else for, and then see if you still think that's okay?"

My aunt would always tell other people what I do when I’m doing something wrong, I don’t think she does it to embarrass me, I think she just does it to vent but even then it makes me super self councious of what other people think of me now and now I’m a people pleaser and even a push over cause I don’t want people to think of me how my aunt shows how I am. Once I voiced out how hurtful the things she does is, she stopped but even then I had to go to therapy as my over self conscious is always thinking about what people think of me. I can’t even imagine what that child has to go through when a bunch of strangers she doesn’t even know are seeing her ‘getting punished.’ This is how meek and people who don’t speak up are made. When her child grows up and cuts off all contact without saying anything she shouldn’t be surprised.

When I was a hairdresser I had a parent come in with their 14 year old son and he had long black beautiful hair. He was like a skater type of kid. Anyway , the parent explained to me that their son had bad grades and his hair needed to be chopped off because of that. It was the hardest thing I had to do that day. He kept crying and I know he will hate me for the rest of his life lol.

Psychologically I wonder and want to ask the mom “Why is cutting hair and posting about it to the public a punishment?” I’d bet you the answer you get hints at humiliation, embarassment, degrading, and stealing sense of self/autonomy. This is also why they do it in the military. This mother has chosen that, instead of physical discipline, she will utilize psychological warfare. Sure, this kid seems okay right now…. She’s probably getting gaslit to think it’s appropriate… “at least I’m not beating you like my parents beat me.” This mother is a narcissist; reminds me of my own mother.

i've always had long hair and still do, when i was like 9-10 i decided to donate hair to locks of love. my hair was cut to just above my shoulders and while it was quite jarring to see myself with such short hair and i didn't really like it that short like at all, i still felt so proud of myself for doing it. i cannot even fathom if that choice was forced upon me, let alone if it was literally all my hair. legit terrifying to think about. i hope that girl is doing better and can find support outside of her devious mother.

When I lived with my mom, she used to cut my hair. It was a lesson for me to learn. Thing is, I never did anything that bad. All I did was take a cookie without asking. I was only 9 at the time and my hair was so long it used to drag along the floor. Now I have major issues because of it. I used to think that love meant someone had to hurt you because of what my mom did to me growing up. This mother sickens me

Kids are mean point blank. It might be a punishment at home but it is also one for school and social media. Even if people aren't bullying that little girl, pitty is just as bad. No one wants their home life in the streets, especially kids trying to figure out who they are. She could have just given her a shorter hair cut, that would still get the message across.

My dads like this… would rather be a friend than a parent.. he would talk so highly of our relationship and how close we are which is true but at the end of the day all the abuse wasn’t worth having a “cool parent” once I started having my own voice and making my own decisions is when the emotional abuse started to turn into physical. They wanna be cool until you become your own person and defend yourself. It’s always “outta love” but they don’t even know how to love.( and I would defend my dad just like she does her mom cuz I didnt wanna make him look bad because I love him sm and I didn’t wanna make him angry)
