Twitch only shows active viewers, so everyone lurking and not chatting are not shown in the viewer count. Once the people lurking realized it was a scam they started spamming L scam, and were now counted as active viewers. There was no bot attack

@xILoveFishyx the moment the viewer minimizes the twitch window or goes to another screen it wont count them as a viewer and a lot of people like to listen while using other apps or cooking or whatever like myself, the lurkers hear someone say something suspicious they all open up the twitch window at the same moment and are now active viewers although they might have just been listening, the lurkers you are talking about still have the twitch window on top. Another thing to take into consideration is the viewer count doesnt refresh for each individual person in realtime, meaning the number you are seeing could have stayed frozen for you specifically. So it may say 40 for you and 20 for another person. The actual number will display if you refresh the page or come back to twitch from another app, you can test this

I'm glad that his fans which are pretty young, now I don't watch speed but my 10 yr old cousin does. But credit to his fans for finding the scam out and IMO and to be fair to speed I think speed was used to promote the scam without knowing the true intentions that the company had, but realizing his mistake he should've aleast try to apologize instead of guilt tripping. That's just going to make backlash worse. I've seen coffeezilla's video and was funny how they ended up losing the bet 😂 and when they went public it didn't even amount to $1.
