They use up so much energy (also cryptocurrency) that they leave large carbon footprint emmisions which are damaging to the environment and could potentially cause the global temperature to rise

@@wonshikie8153That's not quite accurate, cryptocurrency currently uses 'proof of work' to prove its work e.g. you mine bitcoin, like you would mine gold. As there is a finite amount of bitcoin in the world value goes up. They 'mine' bitcoin on a computer process that unfortunately uses large amounts of energy. However, most cryptos are changing to a concept of 'proof of stake' which will require no large energy consumption. NFT's are just bought and sold using this form of currency, they don't use that much energy but are caught up with cryptos bad press, they use about the same amount of energy as instagrams servers would to store all those images.
