"king, queen and peasants". "business open relationship". "no real person involved". the writing of this show is so good.

I didn't really notice how Greg and Tom mirrored Tom and Shiv! That's such an interesting observation!

I always get so annoyed when relationships are talked about in economic terms. Like developing your value in the relationship market - just disgusting. Great analysis once again!

Ohh, when you talking about the hierarchies, that hit. I’ve been the “not really a person” several times, and when I feel upset, I remind myself to “know my place” in the relationship. Which isn’t sustainable. Thank you for bringing this up!

Oh Genevieve, I already loved your views and explanations over on IG, but this is on another level. I'm so glad you take the time here to provide such insightful examples and commentary. In my opinion this platform works really well for what you are sharing with us. Thank you so much! ❤ On the topic itself: of course many personality traits are overexaggerated in media, but in my view this helps us viewers/readers/listeners catch on what's happening in the story. That can be helpful to distinguish between "this feels uncomfortable" and "what this person is doing is clearly wrong and I do not want to be this person". Same of course for positive traits. At least that's what I take home when ingesting stories 😅

I appreciate you calling out the subtle moments too, can those can get easily overlooked irl.

All the kids are self-centered wreacking balls but Shiv's position is special bec. of how she navigates btw the 2 traditional gender roles in her journey toward power. It's fascinating.

Amusing side note - a(n unnamed in case it was said just for a comparatively private stand-up show rather than publicly) female stand-up comedian does a great sketch where she describes her open marriage and the boundaries they have that goes something like this: Her: "Hey love, did you have a nice evening?" Husband: "Yes, it was great - I saw Susan." Her: "Oh, lovely, how is she?" Husband: "Oh, she's good, I went back to hers to see her new dog." Her: "Ah great, is it cute?" Husband: "Yes, very. We sat on the sofa and we ended up kissing." Her: "Awwww. Is she a good kisser?" Husband: "Yes, very much. Then we went to her bedroom and had passionate sex." Her: "Amazing! I hope it was great for you both. :)" Husband: "And then afterwards, we sat down and watched the newest episode of Succession together." . . . Her: "YOU DID FUCKING WHAT?!?!?!?!?!??!🤬" 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Don't spring such a thing on someone on the wedding night...to do so is to trap them. If she or he is not on board, true care is letting the other person go.
