I’ll be there in 5 days. In Nürnberg. A chill one more for rehabilitation. Still nervous. I’ll have 2 weeks covid quarantine before being socialised with the rest of the prison and I’m scared that that will be like solitary confinement, I’m scared I’ll struggle to be alone with myself and without stimulation, maybe without sunlight and therefore any sense of time. I will survive.

Very true. This documentary was a compilation of others. There are more disturbing documentaries about children in prison. And in most cases it takes YEARS for them to go to trial. And the saddest part is some are completely innocent and once they’re released they were turned into HARDENED criminals behind bars. So it’s like a flipping crazy cycle.

Those children in Philippines jails broke my heart. But by my life's experiences, I wouldn't show any emotion if I saw them in person. A broken society gives rise to broken children, they've seen so much depravity at such a young age, that nothing can ever totally mend their minds and souls.

@@LISA-gv5yo Obviously, from your feeble attempts at writing you lacked discipline and schooling. I was born in the Philippines and worked as social worker for 18 years. The Government provides care for the children outside of prison many abscond because they prefer street life, in their words "freedom", in fact they are undisciplined, ferrol gang children: robbing, stealing, snatching, selling and transporting drugs, many of the youngsters drift into prostitutio n and early childhood birth. They look like children to you but by the age ten they are tougher than marines and would use a knife without hesitation against anyone including social workers if not for the present of burley police men, many have sorts of decreases such as HIV, hepitus. Of course, seem you have a greater knowledge than me; however, within the gangs senior members use ruthless discipline including beating, burning, caning and murd.er. Thus when you know and have experienced more than me only then open your big lefty mouth. Children need fathers in the home as they are the maintainers of discipline most of the ferrol are fatherless.

@@AcidOnTheStreet I was hit with about 10 separate charges overall but without telling you the whole story, I was convicted of possession of class A & C controlled drugs and forging prescriptions. I was partially innocent of the forged prescriptions (I made them but never used them) but I had to plead guilty and take a plea bargain. Due to the quantity of drugs I was found with and the fact that there were aggravating factors the judge threw the book at me and I got 4 years. I served 2 and was released on license but after a couple of weeks I was recalled to prison for a minor violation and ended up having to serve my entire sentence give or take a couple of weeks.

But what if they didn't? What if they are actually innocent. Most of these countries aren't democracies. Someone is accused and they are thrown into a cell, sometimes for years before they have any semblance of a trial. Especially if they are poor. Locked up, no way of communicating with their families, having to pay for their food, wearing the same clothes, no showers, sweltering in the heat, freezing in the cold, and no hope. And they are guilty of NOTHING. How would you feel about them then?

Com certeza a fatura vai chegar para tantas imundícies, para todos os líderes do mundo inteiro que somente estão preocupados em corrupções ,roubos e alienações religiosas, esquecendo a missão que lhes foi confiada. to all the people defending these little children, heres a slap of reality for you. try imagining yourselves living in a city with all of these little scumbags pickpocketing, insist begging and follow you around till you give them something and even gets mad if you give them a small amount. nuisance to traffic cause they roam around the streets a lot. doing drugs in broad daylight. yes their parents failed them and are to blame in the first place but, what can you do? just let continue these crimes? not every country can afford different facilities to rehab children. sometime you work with what you have.

Many of these prison systems suffer from endemic corruption at all levels and this is often perpetuated by a corrupt criminal justice system, a dysfunctional broader legal system and corrupt political systems that ensure people at the top can be bought off or also siphon funds that should be spent on improving the criminal justice system. Oftentimes, we in the West forgot just how diverse the world's prisons are and complain about how many comforts / opportunities are afforded to prisoners these days but I know where I'd prefer my loved ones to get sentenced and serve their time. Many countries have not modernised their prisons, yet alone taken the necessary measures to prioritise prisoners' physical and mental health. I don’t think too many of the people in this video have the chance to enjoy a roast meal with a glass of wine for Christmas. Yet alone play videogames and go to the prison gym between their therapy sessions and free online higher educational opportunities. Perhaps, things have gone a bit far in my country. I recall one fellow who, after a few weeks on the streets, said he couldn’t wait to rob somebody and go back to prison. There, he faced no rent, no utility bills, and no grocery costs. He didn’t have to work. He would lease out the home he inherited from his mother whilst he was in prison and for the lack of any significant costs, that money (together with a small government payment), was making him a wealthy man. Prison should be seen as a negative for everybody - in the sense that it should not be enjoyed more than life in society. We now rely on encouraging the growth of good morals to make earning a prison sentence an embarrassment at a personal level. We don't try to shame prisoners into 'good' behaviour or rely purely on punitive means. Today, we try to encourage regret on an emotional, moral basis. Not everybody however, is capable of growing a good moral compass and for the lack of old fashioned discrimination or punishments (which weren't necessarily good things), they won't feel ashamed of the deeds they did to get them there or feel any kind of regret.
