The need for love and affection of these men shown here is heartbreaking, no matter how aggressive they present themselves, no matter how tough or detached, in the end they are just like all of us. I was very moved by the end of this documentary, especially because I thought all of them would fail in their attempt to have a better life, all based on my own prejudices, of course. I'm really happy for them, I hope things get easier the longer they are away from what caused all their problems in the first place.

There is something wrong with a society when a person only gets the services he needs when in he is in jail. Its obvious the prison staff, overall, want the best for prisoners. The problem is how these people constantly fall through the cracks
@MarlboroughBlenheim12 ай бұрын
Not sure they get the services they need in jail at all and that’s the problem. Society doesn’t and never has cared about the way prisoners are treated especially when it costs huge amounts of money that needs to be spent on other priorities. Which party would go to the polls promising to spend more money on criminals ?

A massive issue is the addiction. This prevents any other services, such as mental health treatment, education, employment. When a person has a drug or alcohol addiction, they are stuck at stage one until they can control and live without it. There is a certain amount of responsibility on the person, and from my experience, public services can only do so much. They can offer counselling, support, programs, accommodation, medication. However, often these people have deeply ingrained issues which mean they continue to go back to their substance of choice. It really is a viscious circle. I do think prison is a valuable place for rehabilitation though. As you allude to, they're in a controlled environment, they can often get clean and access certain programs and help.
@bobmiller75022 ай бұрын
@@rodneytrotter5656 Ive worked with homeless and addicts for ten years 99% have repressed mental health issues that's why they started taking drugs in the first place,to bury the pain,unless those issues are exposed and faced up to there very little chance of getting drug free. but that being said its not a impossible task when on the out, knowing how to go about getting the right help, that's where you need a (healthcare professional)or a councilor like myself. as of our wonderful NHS here in the UK it can be very complicated and disheartening,,love and contentment Bob&MrTao,x

The fact that these guys have mostly gotten their head outta their arses is great. Some are more hardheaded than others, but all of them know what they need to do in order to get outta the rut that they're in. I've been sober since '99 & I was wondering if I was ever gonna be able to get clean...but, I had to get new people, places, & things, & once I did that, it worked. Kudos to all who finally pull themselves outta that neverending path to nowhere, & see that light at the end of the tunnel!!

We all lose our money parents one day ,we all break up with our partners. We just have to get over it it's called life
We all need to deal with problems ffs. That's life. Most of these act like kids who throw a tantrum when they don't get their own way. I was abused when I was young but joined the Royal Navy at 17 years old in 85. Maybe that was my way of escaping. A lot of these guys don't belong in jail, they belong in detox, therapy or community hostels where they work, sweeping the streets, cutting the grass ect and going to classes for whatever educational needs that they lack. Also being put in with local employers ect. They get one chance and if they fuck up its bang up time. Stop the prancing around them. There men not kids.

I crossed paths with the master criminal,Graham, back in 2013 in a rehab centre. He seemed quite proud of himself that he'd been in prison 42 times. I asked him if it ever occurred to him that he's not cut out to be a hoister. It's obvious that he was at the back of the queue when brains were given out. After 42 prison holidays the Authorities finally have Graham in their sights. No wonder the prison system is absolutely f**ked up. As for Mick being homeless, he would be better treated if he had crossed the channel and sneaked in. The country/system is absolutely ruined.

Every small positive leads to bigger ones. These guys are trying and its no bed of roses when you have nothing. With the right support frm the DWP they can stay out but the jobcenter issue on here highlights huge gaps its an a crap system. In the 21st century nobody should be living on the streets. Its hard to get work with a record and even harder to get benefits or both with no fixed abode. Fair play to these guys and good luck in breaking the cycle.

The convict who is living with his fiancee needs to learn manners when talking on the phone inquiring about funds. He’s rude and belligerent and doesn’t want to follow the steps he’s being given to acquire monetary payments. The fact he got hit by a car is a no brainer. He was drunk in public. He did this to himself. I have zero sympathy for someone like that. Take responsibility and grow up.

It’s all about money. There is no support for spending what limited money the govt has on the welfare of scum who in many cases are the worse types of people. So the view is it’s better for these people to suffer than for politicians to risk losing votes by favouring them with spending investment. Of course it means that society still suffers as a result.
