I don't understand what they were thinking with Shockmaster. Even if he didn't fall down and make a joke out of himself, he was literally wearing a glitter-covered storm trooper helmet. If WCW kept the character around with that helmet, they would have gotten sued by at least a couple companies (Lucasfilm and whatever toy company made the helmet)
@brosevideogames79084 ай бұрын
Also there’s no way he could wrestle with the helmet on. Would he have worn a mask under it, or cut eye-holes in it? And did they think Fred Ottman was a main-eventer? The initial booking of giving him the win in a War Games main event would seem so, but he never showed main event potential outside of that.

I think the whole "Yeti being a mummy" thing was a last-minute WCW thing. I heard they originally wanted El Gigante/Giant Gonzalez to be The Yeti (wearing a suit similar to what he wore in WWF which would at least make sense) but by the time Halloween Havoc was near, they couldn't secure him, so they wrapped Ron Reis in mummy attire. The plan was when they finally secured Giant Gonzalez, they would unwrap the bandages and reveal him. It all ended up for naught at the end as they never were able to get him, and The Yeti being a mummy was never explained. I don't know how accurate this is, though. The three giants at World War 3 were supposed to be Gonzalez as The Yeti, The Giant/Big Show and Reis as "Super Giant Ninja".

As it pertains to the Fake Razor and Fake Diesel debuts, I often check out the War Stories episode on the Outsiders, and Kevin Nash had claimed, though Eric Bischoff denies it, that WCW was so scared the Nash and Scott Hall were planning a WWF return, that they offered the Outsiders an extra $400,000 a year to stay. So yeah, not only did the "return" of "Razor Ramon" and "Diesel" make the WWF (WWE today) look like petty idiots, but if you believe Big Kev, it also hastened WCW's downfall a little bit.

Hogan and Bischoff were two key people in the revival, resurgence and popularity of WCW and pro wrestling itself in 96-98 with Hogan turning heel and the nWo. Without them WCW may have died much earlier and we may not even had an attitude era. It's understandable on why TNA thought they would of helped. There was also a lot more factors involved in WCW's death than just storylines and characters. I don't think they get as much credit as they deserve in how much they helped keep WCW alive and make wrestling cool and popular again even if it was for a short period of time. Hogan did that TWICE as well, first in the 80s, then in the late 90s, too many people hate on him when hes one of the main reasons were able to watch wrestling today regardless of his negatives.

Five ideas for Bret Hart off the top of my head: 1) Debuts on Nitro and slaps the Sharpshooter on Bischoff. 2) Debuts on Nitro but puts the Sharpshooter on Larry. 3) Debuts on Nitro with a scorching promo about the WWF and challenges the best WCW has to offer. 4) Debuts on Nitro cuts the promo, and one of WCW's top stars comes out to confront him, giving us, say, a Sting-Hart, DDP-Hart, Goldberg-Hart, or Savage-Hart main event. 5) If he has to be the referee of the match he was enlisted for, don't have him debut until Starrcade 1997, have it be a mystery that forces fans to buy the PPV to see his debut. And, in this case, it would be worth it, since he had momentum coming off the Screwjob.

@Wrestling Bios....If I purchase full Patreon membership, will I get to listen to the various background music tracks? Specifically, Glacier and that Progressive Metal theme with the great guitar solo. If so, please let me know and I will immediately send money. Thanks. You channel is the best. Unlike some other channels that are full of douche chills. You know the one. It's another one from across the pond, but they love their voices too damn much. You're the best. Thanks for everything. Been a fan since the Wrestling Lists days.

I’m way behind on watching RTW (it’s covering a shitty period right now lol) but I’m still gonna watch this first

I don't know about best debut, but Randy Savage was treated like the king of the universe in his WWF debut with getting the pick of managers. I can't think of anyone being talked about quite that well. Probably why Hogan did what he did for all those years. Being honest if you watch his early matches, even with folks lower down the card, it's hard to argue with them. He's up, down, and all around giving performances that would work today.

Heck, The Wrestling Classic was basically a showcase ppv for Savage that he honestly should have won. He was booked like a face even though he was a heel

Using Mortal Kombat-esque background music for the Glacier segment was 👌🏻

Sin Cara botching his entrance in his debut match has to be up there.

The Emma/Emmalina thing was very weird.

I still don't understand why WCW decided to use a storm trooper helmet for their wrestler. It makes no sense.

I did like that after Sydal's debut, there was a joke on Being The Elite about Michael Nakazawa having put baby oil on the turnbuckle before the match. I appreciate a company that can take things in stride and poke a bit of fun at themselves when stuff goes wrong.

Does the Hand delivered by Mae Young qualify? It is a debut.
