It's such an inexact science that I actually can't respect the intelligence of anyone who just blames it on 'bad scouting'.
@CabVideoz9 ай бұрын
Most of the team blame should be about roster construction, scheme fit and coaching. The Bears were not built to support a rookie QB until it was way too late for Fields. Also, because of social media, the fifth year option and rules geared toward QB stats, the window for QB growth from rookie year has shrunk. Alot of pretty good if not great QBs of the past took a lot more time to develop.

@youtubeistryingtocensorme9 ай бұрын
Bill got away with draft steals at the wide receiver position for 20 years. He thought what worked with Brady would work with Mac Jones. He failed to realize that scrub slot receivers like Wes Welker and Julian Edelman only worked cuz Tom frickin Brady was his Quarterback. Plus Alabama quarterbacks are soft, game managing, system QBs. They only work if they’re surrounded by talent. They cannot be called to carry a team to a championship run.

Trevor Lawrence is a quality starter and a franchise level quarterback even if he’s failed to live up to the hype. No such quarterbacks can be found in the 2007 or 2013/14 draft classes, or 2010 for that matter.
@Gungho739 ай бұрын
I was going to say, if we're being objective 2013 is worse because even the NFL struggled to find QB's to forcefully boost to the first round. Geno Smith is still starting (for another team) but the lone first rounder was completely overwhelmed and gone in Manuel. It's him and Mike Glennon holding up that class value wise. When you look at the draft with Trevor Lawrence for instance, there's a good chance he will get a second contract with his club despite not looking like the generational player we thought hed be (which is still tremendously better then how many of the 1st overall QB's careers went since realignment). If some of these players were drafted a round (or two) lower like they should've been then we might've felt much differently about the class. Because the type of players we saw taken in the first round, traded up for even, were players the could maybe be molded in the right scenario with but not day 1 starters. In effect, day 2 to early day 3 picks. Instead, teams overdrafted them to sell hype (and tickets) and didn't give them either structure/support, or only brought in competition. More of those players were at best closer to Kyle Trask (brought in as a potential future QB if he developed right in Tampa which has not been the case thus far) or Davis Mills (intriguing prospect with limited games taken by HOU in the 3rd round) then they were to Trevor Lawrence and teams drafted them that high anyways while telling themselves and their season ticket holders that wasn't the case. I really despise the new rookie QB draft format now. I forsee more classes like this in the near future by desperate GM's, overreaching ownership and coaches wanting "their guy." I don't ever want to go back to the Sam Bradford era of QB hasn't done a damn thing, takes a big cap bite out the gate, but I don't like this future by any means either.
@chicagodude88889 ай бұрын
@@Gungho73 Exactly what I’ve been saying for years. If you have a top 20 ceiling you’re probably going in the top 10. Elite Quarterbacks are an absolute premium but drafting one simply out of need is how you end up with a bust who has no business being drafted in the first round, let alone top 10. Think Kenny Pickett and Trey Lance. In 2008 the Dolphins and Rams without a long term answer at the position passed on Matt Ryan who fell to the Falcons at 3. Today? He’s a Dolphin. Rookie contracts used to also give you 7 years of control, now with the rookie cap it’s 3 years with a 4th and 5th year option. Now you have to rush them in to make the decision on whether they deserve an extension.

@@chicagodude8888 the thing is with what you’re saying they thought 4-5 different guys had these top 10 traits in this one class that why it is so bad drafting Kenny Pickett in the 20s does not make that worse than missing on players you legitimately were trying to change your franchise with in the top 10

What would any of these QBs would look like if they got the Jordan Love treatment? How a QB plays in big collage games is one of the best markers for early NFL success. Love didn't play in any at Nevada, so he needed to sit. While his 2020 classmates (Burrow, Tua, Herts, Herbert) all had big game experience. Apply that to 21. Lawrence and Jones played in big games, and both lead their NFL teams to the playoffs. There are good reasons why talented 1st round QBs don't have collage success. It could be lack of talent around them, bad coaching, difference in systems, or some combination of them all. It's doesn't necessarily mean they are bad players. They just need that Love treatment to have the best chance to succeed in the NFL.

Looking back on this Draft can we agree these dudes really didn't have a chance. Think about it Lawrence arguably got the one of the worst coaches not just in 21 century but all of the NFL history. And now he's getting better but he's not what he was hyped up to be as of now Fields had like no weapons his rookie season then he got DJ Moore and look at that his numbers went up like crazy. The Bears organization is well known for not developing QB or giving them the support to help them and the team. Mac Jones was the best QB in the draft their rookie year. He even got them to the playoffs. Next season they gave him a defensive coach as a offensive coordinator. The whole situation was both bad and a clown show. Then they really didn't even try last season with Belichick just being like screw it before the Patriots just blew everything up. Trey Lance this one is tricky considering he was Injury Prone. If healthy I'm sure he would have played well for the 49ers though all those trades to get to him where bad look for the 49ers not Lance. Again Lance hasn't really played a lot cause of injuries but I'm sure he would have been fine since it's the 49ers an QB can look great or elite in that offense. And Zach Wilson ehhhh😅 I see flashes but I do think he stinks and this is not coming from a place of hate dude has one or two games he looks great but other than that he's meh.

This QB Class Was a Big Disgrace. Mac Jones Was The Worst And Is The Worst Of Everything. Mac Jones Is The Worst Alabama QB, Worst NFL QB And The Worst Draft Pick Ever. He's Just As Bas As Ryan Leaf. Also Bailey Zappe Is Also The Worst Draft Pick Ever Too Just Like Ryan Leaf.

2002,2007 and 2010 were worse, since at least this draft had Lawrence.

Sorry to be disagreeing but this isn't even the Top 5 worst QB draft class of the last 10 years, as a Jaguars fan Lawrence is clearly the future and answer turned his team from worst to 1st/2nd in his first 3 years with a busted OL and not much support otherwise, yes the other Qbs have clearly went on to be busts but Tlaw is in a different class.

THE 2013 DRAFT CLASS WAS WAYY WAYY WORSE THAN THESE GUYS THEY NEVER HAD A CHANCE TO BE HEALTHY OR SET UP FOR SUCCESS THEY SHOULD’VE ALL REDSHIRTED AND THEN START THEIR SOPHOMORE YEAR

The entire era from around 2016 to 2018 was just a bad era for the development of high school quarterbacks. Most of the elite five-star quarterbacks from that era, the quarterbacks you would expect to become franchise quarterbacks, were nothing but busts for several years, thus the NFL was forced to rely on middle-tier quarterback prospects from that era. Unfortunately, the middle-tier quarterbacks were not starting quarterback material either. You throw in the fact that the NFL is a quarterback league, and many teams are desperate for a top young quarterback as well as COVID hurt the development and evaluation of quarterbacks in that era as well, you have a recipe for the number of busts that 2021 produced.

None of these teams are good team and don't have weapons. That's one big reason, the other is maybe, they're just simply not that good anyways.

The hyperbole is INSANE. Nobody aside from Trevor Lawrence was viewed as generational.

2024 is looking like a big suck fest. Caleb W is a head case. Jayden is mediocre. I live in the PAC 12 footprint so know little about Maye. Penix looks real. JJ might be a system QB, Nix is old. Rattler looking flawed. Those are 7 of the QB's. Some GM's gonna get fired over this draft.

I feel like you're living down to this channel's name. You thought of a title, listed things that Did Happen & said Absolutely Nothing Of Value whatever. Same with the Russell Wilson video. Not one word about how or why any of these QBs are a bust. Nothing about *what* Urban Meyer did to hamper T-Law's career, just an assertion _that_ saying his name means he must have. That's at best rumor. Bringing up a topic then saying nothing *about it*_is_ Just Another _nothing_ Channel. Repeating old news like Lance's injury does what? Fills time. Who needs Another Channel doing nothing but repeating what we Already Know? Wtf is the *point* of making videos repeating these things? No analysis. All filler. What is your _goal_ in making these?

@@fate8718 i mean yes overall Brock is better then any of the Qbs in the two drafts but at least T-Law is above average, Justin Fields still has potential, Mac Jones, Zach Wilson, Lance will at least all be backups. Most of the 2022 QBs are already out of the league.
@fate87189 ай бұрын
@@WiseguysProductions-2000 Baily was considered a better option to Mac Trey is a borderline 3rd string Jets tried shopping Zach, they wouldnt get even a 7th for him Sure T-Law is average, He isnt Purdy And we talk about how much Potential Justin has but he never shows it(And by that same account Sam Howell has the same potential he has just shown more) The NFL's residential Potential Man Its always When with him If with him And never is "Oh when he gets a good wide receiver he will go off" He didnt "Oh when he has time to throw he will slice up defenses" He owns the longest average time per pass attempt in the league "Oh if we give him a few years he will be great" Its been 3

@@fate8718 I'm not saying Justin will pan out definitely but I feel being on the Steelers will give us a real look at what he's got playing with Mike Tomlin. But Lance really never had a healthy shot in SF. Mac Jones led the Patriots to the playoffs even if since then it hasn't panned out. But like who are you even saying is better??? Sam Howell i actually felt was punted too early, Pickett was just awful to watch, Malik Willis was third string last year, Corral plays for a UFL team now. Chris Oldakun plays as the emergency for the Chiefs, Desmond Ridder was awful on a team full of weapons he's already moving on too. And I agree with your stance on the potential game but you invest a top 10 pick into someone you'd think you'd give them a chance and want to build behind them.
