Unpopular opinion- Scooby’s look in Get a Clue was kind of cool. Eyes alone do not a character make, and eyes aside, Scooby gives pretty good vibes to me with that look. That’s also like the only thing I know about that show 😂

The beady-eye design style has been used in other cartoons, but to much better effect. It’s generally used for characters with very simple personalities (take Disney’s Winnie-the-Pooh for example) or to make their expressions harder to determine, in contrast to characters with more thoughtful or easier-to-read personalities. Needless to say, it doesn’t work for characters like Shaggy and Scooby, who are famously known for being really expressive. While the “Fairly Odd Parents’" shift to Flash Animation was definitely not a good one, I wouldn’t really call it a change in art style since many of the characters retained their original designs from the previous seasons. An art style change would like if the show went from its thick-outlined, flat colored, geometric, UPA-inspired look to something like a generic anime - with thin outlines, 3D shading, more realistic bodily proportions, etc. Something which the “Channel Chasers” movie played around with. Also, I heard that the latest “Fairly Odd Parents” series is surprisingly good. I’ve even heard some fans declare it to be better than the original - though I guess that’s subjective.

Dexter's Art style didn't change due to budget cuts. Chris Savino was running the show and he made it look more like his art style.

Dexter's lab was still hand-drawn in seasons 3-4. It was animated by Rough Draft Studios and they do hand-drawn animation. You can tell a show is hand drawn if the lines are inconsistent when the characters move because its impossible to draw something exactly the same twice. At least the writing was still funny.

Am I the only one who was fine with the new designs and animation style? I mean... the OG look was way better, but ever since Time Squad, Cartoon Network's thick-line style was already becoming more sleeker and UPA-like, thanks to transition to digital ink and paint. And for its time, I personally think the animation in Dexter's later seasons was pretty well-made.

@@kootunesscrewy I prefer the earlier art style but the later art style is ok. Season 4 looks better than season 3 because the backgrounds are more detailed and they actually changed the title cards.

Let’s not forget that the 2000s Dexter also supplied the worst episodes in the shows history. The ones I can fully recall are A Third Dad Cartoon and A Mandark Cartoon (I think those were the names of the episodes). The Mandark one is literally an entire episode of nothing but Manark’s laugh and things that just so happen to sound like it. It’s basically one joke on repeat and the overall episode moves so, *so* slow. And as for A Third Dad Cartoon, it’s honestly not a step up. Hell, it might even be worse than the Mandark cartoon. This episode is literally about Dexter’s dad taking the entire episode to hit a golf ball, but at the end, it starts raining, so they have to go home. That’s it. No one speaks in this episode. Dexter and Deedee do nothing but stare at their dad with the occasional blink so the audience knows that they’re still alive and not part of the background, and there’s several long scenes of Dexter’s dad doing next to nothing (like cutting the grass around the golf ball, picking out a golf club, and loosening up. That basically summarizes almost all the scenes in this one episode.)

Unpopular opinion but... these redesigns weren't that terrible and I actually found them unique for their own right. But I'll admit the original designs were way better. (Fairly OddParents didn't really have a redesign, outside of making the characters look more sleeker for Flash).

In the same way the eyes make the Shaggy and Scooby Doo designs terrible for you is what makes the redesign of Honest John in the Pinocchio remake the worst redesign for me coming from someone who loves foxes and the original version of the character. I'm glad I didn't see the Fairly Oddparents episodes in Flash animation. Thanks for making this by the way.
