Robin Hood 2018 adds to the long history of unsuccessful adaptions of the property. But the version we look at this week, Robin and the 7 Hoods is by far the worst one in almost every conceivable way. Thanks for watching!

Thanks to Caravan of Garbage, I'm coming to understand that Frank "Plank" Sinatra was basically the Adam Sandler of olden times. At every opportunity Hollywood would give him, he would take the time to make these bad movies just so he could hang out with his friends and get paid. And smash stuff with axes of course, as one does in the 60's, apparently XD Don't care how James feels - _I_ *genuinely* cannot wait until the next weak excuse to watch a Rat Pack movie comes up now (^-^)

I have to admit that at least the Mr. Booze scene in the fake church is pretty funny. At one point the Bing Crosby, playing the minister, invites Dean Martin's character up to "testify" about what alcohol did to him. And he introduces Martin as a world renowned surgeon who's life was ruined by alcohol. Dean Martin just stares at him like "what the fuck am I supposed to do with that?".

@@mejsmith1 Your forgetting one Godzilla vs Gigan from 1972. I know in at least the english dub that Godzilla and Anguruis talk to each other with some of the dumbest sounding dubs voices you could imagine. Pretty sure most of that movie is pretty bad. Remember the plot being about something like the human characters creating a giant Godzilla amusement park. The villains are giant cockroaches that can disguise themselves as humans. And to make it even worse pretty sure a lot of the action is just reused stock footage.

@@wisewolftony That whole early 70s period was kind of a dark period for Godzilla. They seem to be trying to imitate the Gamera movies in being more kid friendly and to do it as cheaply as possible. Variety's review of this movie at the time: "Warner Bros. has a solid money entry in "Robin and the Seven Hoods," a spoof on gangster pix of bygone days sparked by the names of Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and Bing Crosby to give marquee power ... Performance-wise, Falk comes out best. His comic gangster is a pure gem and he should get plenty of offers after this. Sinatra, of course, is smooth and Crosby in a "different" type of role rates a big hand. Martin seems lost in the shuffle. Davis is slick and Miss Rush, going heavy, is beautiful to look at."

The Dean song isn't a romantic or sexual thing. It's a song meaning "If you love your mother, you're a stand-up guy in my book!" The reason it's funny here is Dean is hustling Franky, so you know everyone in the room thinks he's a scumbag, so for HIM to sing it, it's like he's saying "I can do this to you and still be the good guy in my own book cuz I love my motha".

Omg I loved this so much. I can’t believe I clicked on this having no idea what it was about. I went through a Rat Pack-loving phase in my teens (I know, I know) and I own this movie on dvd. I might actually think this one is more watchable than Ocean’s 11 because it’s so bizarre and ocean’s is so boring. But I loved every minute of this. Any reference to “gams” killed me. 🤣🤣🤣

Can't believe you didn't feature the line when Dean pokes the woman in the rear with the cue stick, "Hey buddy, it's the other end you play with." "My Kind of Town" was a hit song and got an Oscar nomination but lost to "Chim Chim Cher-ee," and I'm pretty sure the movie was released partially incomplete because of Frank Jr's kidnapping, which would explain the rushed ending.

19:54 printing fake money is a far riskier affair than illegal gambling, the amount of money is finite and even in the 1930s or whatever they had ways to tell counterfeit money from real money

This doesn't make the joke any funnier. but Bing Crosby's quirk was that he was a bad dresser. If you listen to his radio show or guest appearances on other shows, that's what they would make fun of. My guess is that a contemporary audience would find that scene hilarious.

Mortal Engines will be arriving soon, we haven't really had that definitive steampunk film like Lord of the Rings is to fantasy or Star Wars is to sci fi. Hopefully this would change that. I would however like to see a Caravan of Garbage episode which looks at the Sky Captain and the world of tomorrow which is a very bizzare and visually dated attempt at the steampunk genre. I think you could have a lot of fun with that. Keep up the good work guys!

I think they decided to release that whole movie by slowing showing every scene in trailers, or at least it seems that way.

@Thread Bomb You’re right, it is a oretty meh movie. But it’s the only movie we have in this style so it’s automatically the best of it’s genre.

fun fact that i thought of when you were talking about the lack of squibs in the shoot out. In early movies before special effects they would get a sharp shooter to shoot real fucking bullets next to actors in shoot outs to show the bullets hitting the wall and whatnot. I don't remember for sure but I think more than one actor died doing this stupid shit.

I had a dream about you two last night. James was poorly on his sofa with a throw over him. Mason sitting on another sofa at a right angel to him. I came to the door and knocked. You let me in. I sat down and started watching what ever you were watching. After some time mason left and it was just me an James. A bit more time passed and James left and i started to wonder if i had outstayed my welcome. Then i woke up.
