Pre game prep is called dragging the field. That piece of fence behind the ATV is the guy dragging the field. They drag it with push brooms during the game to touch it up. When you were hot in the upper deck the Rays were up. Did it cool down when the O's were up? It should have, that's by design. AC blows "in" when visitors are up. There is a multitude of reasons why attendance at the Trop is so dismal. It is NOT for lack of fans per se; the Rays have one of the highest TV ratings in baseball. I blame lack of attendance on several factors: 1) The competition for in-person entertainment in Florida is fierce. You have the beautiful gulf beaches, Busch Gardens, Disney World, Sea World, Kennedy Space Center, and dozens of other 'touristy' things available. Coupled with: 2) Florida is FULL of lower paying, tourist type jobs. Not to mention the high percentage of Retired Folks on fixed incomes. Families just don't have a lot of money to spend on in-person entertainment, and with all the options available, the entire family budget is NOT going to be spent watching baseball in-person. 3) The traffic in the Tampa Bay area (driving from Orlando or the Northern Tampa Suburbs) to GET there is horrible mid-week. I've travelled from the Orlando area (which does have LOTS of Rays Fans and a large population) to watch a game in person several times, and if it is M-F, I have to take a half-day off of work to even THINK about getting there in time for first pitch. It is just over 100 miles for me, but close to a 3 hour drive with the late afternoon traffic going through Tampa to get to St. Pete. Even the people who WORK in Tampa would be hard pressed to get there in time (time in traffic, parking, walking to their seats) if their job doesn't end until 5:00. So much easier to watch the games from home. And, it is no picnic leaving the parking lot and getting back out of town. It has taken me a good hour or more just to get out of the lot and onto the highway to head home. In contrast - a couple of summers ago, I took my son for a visit to NYC and the Rays were in town to play the Yankees. Stadium pretty full. After the game, we literally were able to walk to the Subway station, and we were on a train within 5 minutes headed back to Manhattan where our hotel was. Incredible efficiency when it comes to mass transit and being able to handle thousands of fans.

I live in the Tampa Bay Area and the reason I don't go to Ray's games is because there are multiple Minor League ball parks in the area and ticket prices and concession prices are much less. Clearwater Threshers used to have a "Feeding Frenzy" on Monday nights, it was $14 for a ticket that included admission and all you can eat hot dogs, hamburgers, Philly cheesesteaks, and snacks. Last time I went to a Ray's game over ten years ago the were selling a 12oz bottle of Bud Light for $12. I just go to minor league games from now on because they cost a lot less and can go to several minor league games for the same price it costs to go to a single Ray's game. Oh my goodness! That is some pitiful attendance. Wow, how do they continue? Well, maybe the attendance is low because of that knucklehead with the cowbell.

When I lived in Tampa we would buy the cheap seats for Yankees and Red Sox games then make our way down to the better seats at the trop. Day games got sparse crowds so the didn’t care.

Unlike Jordan the Lion and Carpetbagger who actually travel. I'm not quite sure why Adam is unwilling to leave Orlando area or when in CA, the LA area (well this past trip he did go to San Francisco). There is so much to see in FL and he won't do anything past Disney and Baseball and Hot Dogs (& I like Baseball to see minor league team near me and I'll eat a hot dog once in a while). I loved watching his Route 66 series. Heck, even The Ttackers leave Orlando lately.

AmFam Field in Milwaukee would be an awesome experience to see you take part in ATW! Tailgating, sausage races, and Bernie Brewer!

Watched a bit of this series on tv, but didn't happen to see you, when the cameras scanned the crowd, :-). Enjoyed the vlog.

11:01 that's your $14 complimentary AC, for a $300 seat you get a rays staff to stand by you with a mister fan the entire game

The same thing happened when the Florida Marlins had their 2 World series runs. Of course, they were playing at Hard Rock Stadium back then. BTW I like your stadium tours! No wonder there's talk of the Rays moving to Montreal or Orlando!

@@acatic80 Yeah but i wanted the current gens to know which stadium. And yes the A's might go, more than the Rays!

Agreed with your observation about Tampa and the crowd size for a first place team. Some of that due to it being an afternoon game. And ahhhh…. a hot dog. Yum!

Both of the Florida teams do not pull a lot of people in. Kind of sad.

You totally answered a question I’ve been wanting to ask you about going to ballgames. I’ve been wanting to get one of those DJI OM 4 gimbals to take to ballparks to film some of my explorations, but I’ve been afraid they wouldn’t be allowed in.

These were the seats my dad would always buy (and always on a ball or bat night) in the old Kingdome when we lived in Seattle. Hard as hell bleacher seats, oh, memories.

Main reason Rays low fan attendance is because of where The Trop is. It is in BF Egypt. I’m a Rays fan live in Orlando, but haven’t been to a game in a while because long drive 1:45 min no traffic. If u hit traffic forget about it. Even Tampa area residents hate the traffic going there; also the transient population of Florida doesn’t help, too many transplants who refuse to support the local teams.

The minor league team down the road the Clearwater Threshers get great attendance at their games. BayCare Ballpark is a cool place to watch a game.

Will never forget the massive size of the Houston Astrodome in person and the time my Highschool Baseball coach pointed to this roof and said it's gonna be the home of a MLB team.

I had tickets to a game at the Astrodome when I was little on a family vacation and the game was rained out. We went the next day to watch a game.
