The fact that Shiny Combusken’s shiny changed in SwSh from Gen7, it’s kinda a bummer that no other shinies had really had momentous changes for their color palettes for years. Like Shiny Garchomp could’ve just changed to the same cobalt blue of its pre-evolutions. It’s not even a lot to ask for y’know? And there’s no reason why the change can’t happen.

smeargle and charizard had a big change in shinies from gen 2 to gen 3, smeargle swapped the shiny with it's normal sprite and charizard went from purple to black

I actually got 2 of them in a mass outbreak. They where just waiting on me and each was lined up like: regular, shiny, regular, shiny. What's even funnier is that one was female and the other was male. I screamed out of joy until I forgot that I could catch both (I thought I was in a pre legends game) but once I remembered, I was happy again

Funny thing I caught a shiny Pichu recently in PLA and without noticing it and while releasung Pokemon I got the notice about a rare Pokemon I'm about to release just to find out one of the Pichu I've caught during an outbreak had been a shiny the whole time. I've also caught a shiny Elekid unknowingly.

@@luk1681 1. My sound had been off so I wasn't able to hear the Shiny sound (both times). 2. I just straight up stored them all in my electric box without really looking at them since I hadn't seen any really obvious difference while looking at all of them. 3. Shiny Pichu looks almost the same as normal Pichu. Same thing with Elekid almost no difference in Colour.

@@luk1681 I also had a moment like that almost. I found an outbreak of happinys and while my sound was on, the shiny sparkle sound effect or visual effect didn't appear right away. And I looked at one and wondered if the lighting was off or if it was actually shiny. So I had to fly a bit further away and land in some grass so they didn't spot me. When I came close to the outbreak, the one I thought was shiny sparkled with the sound effect. So now I have a shiny happiny.

I thought that shiny torterra would be here on the list. I actually do have shiny torterra in legends arceus and im so dissapointed in it. They just added a bit more lime to the grass on top and made the legs a bit yellow and a bit green. Thats it. What makes it even worse is that it evolved from grotle, which is a good shiny in my opinion.

The worst thing about Burmy/Wormadam having barely noticeable shinies is that it's dex entries state the form it takes is based on what objects are in its environment. Like, they could easily have altered colors for the stuff it sticks to its body instead of making itself barely visible. Like, autumn leaves on grass form or washed up sea glass on sandy form and trash form could literally be anything humans throw away in cities.

The whole gimmick behind wormadam is that it uses it's surroundings to create a cloak for itself to live, so it makes sense that the cloak doesn't change color. It still is a horrible shiny, but it makes SOME sense.

1:22 the reason they never kept the yellow is because before gen 6, shinies were decided by pallet swaps and weren’t chosen by the developers, it’s also the reason why some Pokemons shinies aren’t that sifferent

The thing about the potentially intentionally bad is that most older shinies weren't designed. The way they made it was by altering the color palette. Then when we moved to 3D they started designing every shiny. The issue is that they never updated the shinies and just followed through keeping it the same. Someone at GF however really like subtle shinies with some of the Gen 9 shinies.

It is indeed inexcusable, considering how much they push shinies in the games and the TCG. They know that besides competitive PVP, shiny hunting is the only real reason to play those games long term. S/V introduced some new terrible shinies as well, like Maushold, Paldean Tauros, Ceruledge etc. Very weird...

I must be one of the few people who can appreciate the shinies like Gengar and Garchomp. I don't see them as "dull", I see them as darker, less colorful versions of what's supposed to be intimidating Pokémon. Shiny Mega Gengar is also miles better than normal. Shiny Leafeon's earthier colors and shiny Glaceon's icy colors, both more vibrant, only give their 3d models more life. Not every shiny needs to be a complete reverse of the original or whatever to be "cool".

One thing I love about shiny Lilligant is that her flower and eyes are swapped between her forms. What I mean by that is Unovan Lilligant normally has an orange flower and orange eyes, but her shiny changes both the flower and the eyes to pink. Meanwhile the Hisuian Lilligant has a pink flower and pink eyes normally but changes them both to orange when shiny. Additionally, both of the forms' bodies change in the same way when shiny, going from having green/yellow-green arms and overskirts to those features being more of a blue-green. The way the two Lilligant forms reference each other is just so cool to me. I love the Lilligant line.

I remember shiny hunting in Pokemon ultra sun and moon for a chansey, if you've played the game then u know how easy it is, but when I got my 1st shiny of it, I was so happy and it looked amazing so I decided to evolve it into blissey cause there is no way in hell they can fuck it up. I evolved it and once it showed shiny blissey I was think "oh shit did I do something wrong" but I didn't I just couldn't tell the difference between shiny and non-shiny cause they look exactly alike. Never been so disappointed but then it turned out for the best. As getting the shiny Chansey was super easy I decided to farm them and by the end of the week I had well over 50 that I slowly put onto the trade system and that's how I completed the Pokedex. Honestly Pokemon ultra sun was the most fun I had since soul silver so I decided to transfer all my level 100's, shinys, mythicals and legendarys that I had spent 2 years leveling and collecting over to Pokemon sword. But then I found out I couldn't trade all, couldn't keep all items and now I'm stuck with boring ass sword. Sword was so boring for me that I haven't played any of the new Pokemon games since and have sold my Pokemon cards and switch because of how crappy sword was like of you've played any of the older games and ultra sun, they have so much u can do in it like post game activity, like I finished ultra sun in 2 weeks, spent 2 years fully completing it and still had fun. I bought sword, fiished it in 5 hours and was excited to see what to do after, couldn't find anything other than the legendarys so I looked up a list of post game activities and it was abysmal. So there I was stuck with half of my prized pokemon and everything, I even tried starting over on another account while pretending it was a nuzlocke I t worked for few hours so I gave up and got rid of everything. Pokemon sword, although it looks great it lacks substance and it ruined everything for me about pokemon. I would also be into the anime still if it wasn't for the animation change and sudden kidofying of ash's behaviour and I would still have my cards if my family wouldve remembered that I loved pokemon and not just make me watch my little bros open all these cool new decks on Christmas whilst I got uno decks also the fact I couldn't afford cards at the time. I still catch up on pokemon every now and then like I am now cause I still care...holy shit I'm so sorry for ranting about my hatred for Pokemon sword, just needed to let it out

The biggest tragedy is that Glaceon actually used to have a really cool shiny (albeit more subtle), in that the pale teal of its body turned white and its darker highlights turning more vivid and deep was a lot more noticeable. Sadly, during the transition to 3D, Glaceon's standard color palette was lightened a fair bit so now the shiny looks near identical.

I remember when I failed a shiny bascuiln on April 1st. Though I was able to get a shiny driftfloon shortly after. Also what's funny is that I got a shiny togatetic from raids and almost failed it Edit: and I don't think dusknoir is bad. I love blueish shines. But I kinda agree with the happiny line. I knew about blissey and it was one of those accidental shines like those who randomly appear and you wouldn't normally hunt for it unless you're a huge fan of it.

I unfortunately agree with a lot of these, and I agree on the Wormadam with missed opportunities but I will just say that Wormadam is actually one of my fav Pokémon. I’m not defending its shiny however, the only cool thing about the shiny is the sparkles that come with it

I think I could have some good changes for a "shiny" for Wormadam. 1st style (Plant cloak): have the leaves be more of a orange and yellow color to represent Autumn leaves... 2nd style (Trash Cloak): have more of a gray color to the bottom, or maybe a faint green... 3rd style (Sandy Cloak): have the bottom be a bit orange-ish (to represent red sand) and the little smile of orange be tan (basically a color swap, that is noticeable). Looking at the shiny form for this pokemon does make it suck, so I hope these suggestions would be better than the normal shinies. (Edit: fixed the comment after looking up the pokemon)

Part of me gets why Burmy and Wormadam's cloaks don't change color. The cloaks aren't their bodies, but parts of the environment they just happen to be wearing. Granted, I'm pretty sure Dugtrio's dirt has changed colors for shinies in the past. Ah well, nobody wants to use the Burmy line anyways.

you do know that before gen 6 the shinies where done by an algorithm many red mons turn blue, many blue mons turn purple etc.

Why is no one talking about how Burmy and Wormadam make their cloaks from leaves, dirt, and litter they find in their environments. So they couldn't change anything more than the color of their faces, because that's the only part that's actually their bodies.

They could have just made something like only changing the color of their cloaks with them finding different kinds of their materials, some other commenter made a cool idea of it being autumn leaves, red sand, and I don't really remember the trash one.
