I think yellow being noob by not letting you traverse west Africa was a good move actually. It forces black to hit more troops if he wants SA and you to lose those troops. Also, green kept a very close eye on troop numbers and only took Europe when he saw he would fall behind blue without the extra generation.

to 1) I don't know about that... there are always two sides to a coin. If black sees and realises that, yellow has made two enemies (at the beginning of the game) at the same time with both of those enemies sitting right next to him. I would never see that as a good move. Granted, people you play against will react differently. If yellow had done this to me, I might have lost it early and probably would've continued only to make them get last place.

Thank you for posting, I needed to see this. So many games my spawns are deadly, spending the entire game just trying to survive, ecke out little wins and chaos. Watched you for a year before I started playing, made master in two weeks, made intermediate the week after, have been floating between 12k and 22k ever since. The variance is brutal af, and I seriously question if it's bc of spawns like this one.

Videos like these expand my views on classic map risk as I tend to fight back for a bonus in these situations which sometimes works but not everytime. It purely depends on what other players do .

Is it possible that yellow didnt wanna let you out that side because they just wanted you to fight Australia and just accept that you will lose your SA/EU troops. Its Dumb because obviously he pisses you off but kinda understandable early game when you cant do anything about it

I also tried the itinerant stack in Asia from the mideast position and won. I think the main difference is not eliminating the SA ability to take cards. I just kept taking a card at a time and being too large to be worth killing until eventually the Africa player lost his mind and suicided into SA. Then i mopped up from there.

I don't think you could've done anything better except maybe an early sue with the 27 stack on yellow and feeding their kill to blue but that would still likely lead to the same or similar outcomes as you would burn through most of your troops doing so too, only to give yellow last instead of black, and would die before your next turn would come if you didn't get godlike rolls anyways. Trying to force them to hit each other and start a war seemed to be the best play you could make afterwards to squeeze out a higher ranking out of this one, this was one of those impossible grade puzzles.

Just a quick query if you have time ha. Used to always be a Grandmaster... Not sure what they changed about the game but now I'm consistently master but never manage to get back up to Grandmaster and also can drop as far as intermediate from losing 3-4 games in a row... Any ideas? Literally ONLY ever play classic world domination map with fog of war and blizzards....

Depends on the settings but the average skill in the game has increased a lot.

Nah. If Yellow did that to me I would leave my initial stack in Africa and build on it, while having another just to take cards in Asia. If he wants to block, cool bro, but you are not getting a bonus if you don't let me leave. And if I can't win, well, Yellow is coming with me as lowest. I wouldn't have killed Black.

How I would play this... at 16:46, take the set, but don't take a card. Move troops to Afghanistan and sit there on zero cards until something happens. It's incredibly dull, and would make an awful video... but I've managed this a couple of times vs. inexperienced players... realistically, the only option of playing to win without a bonus.

I still think there is hope for African block play, wonder if you just needed to stir a bit more though? Like punch yellow. He'd get irritated but unlikely to punch your big stack. Wonder if that would have been enough to push him to hit black? Or hit green for the same effect? I think it you kept it to single breaks and at that stage, I think you would have avoided the newb slam. Maybe. The passive play is probably superior still I can't help but wonder. Anyway great game sir!

me personally I ended a couple a times without a bonus and bc of that I get bottom 3 in placement., so i would have stayed in yellows way or stayed in greens way.

I finally tried out online.. and f**k me, there are terrible players First online meta settings Europe advanced and this guy decides to stack agasint my capital, he ended up loosing 60+ troops stacking against my capital as I was forced to hit them constantly, not learning the one tine he had 4 troops there I didn't attack, just wanting to clear the neutral bot out of Oriont which was locked of in Africa, giving me a 2 point Oriont But they guy doesn't learn and doesn't know diplomacy. I had to keep hitting his troops he stacked on my cap. All for a 4+ bonus, he lost 60 + troops. I lost obviously when I had a neutral bot stacking in my bonus and he kept on stacking on my capital it got to the point I couldn't take cards on the neutral bot and the other players who were rolling just slammed into me and than eventually him. It's funny how those 60 troops could've been defending his capital, preventing his defeat. But oh well
