LOL! The last game I played was like a love-fest with all the "Good Games". Except for me who got the first kill when an apparently "expert" player got impatient to take Africa as I was moving through it and hit my 5. Yeah, I traded in and killed him on the next turn for his five cards and then had the SA/Africa position. I gave him no 'Good Game' for that move of his. But after that, it was a lot of love. It was two masters, an expert, and intermediate and I am still at intermediate. So none of the novices or beginners who sometimes lack the respect simply because they haven't learned it all yet.

As for the match itself, I loved seeing people comment and critique a match that I was in for the first time. It was great to see what so many people were thinking. I only saw one comment where someone actually sided with me though and realized what I was doing. I moved my stack to Afghanistan in an attempt to shake things up and it worked. White made a move and I never "traded" bonuses with him and took a lesser bonus. Instead, I got out of the way of a player that was clearly looking to be reckless, gave him other targets and let it all unfold while I kept a big single stack that wasn't blocked in. Black and I had been friendly the whole game and in the end he communicated basically that he would attack Pink (sorry didn't know it was Pete at the time) and for that, I had to give him 2nd place. It was a great game, loved the experience.

@myeyesarecircles4009 Жыл бұрын
Nope, not buying it. Pete clearly tried to get you to work with him to attack White. You agreed, you failed to live up to your end. If you wanted nothing to do with a volatile player, then don’t manipulate another player into doing just that. You knew what you were doing. And then act like someone else did more for you. Doesn’t make sense. Very scummy.
@naterosendahl9071 Жыл бұрын
All I want to point out is Black was the reason for the stalement & ultimate suicide by white by failing to choke up the deadliest trap into Saudi Arabia. Especially when he was largest stack for the majority of the game AND the only one to split his troops on his entire border bc he didn't fully ever trust you or Pete clearly. People that play that scared don't deserve 2nd, communication or not.

The original Blade Runner was fantastic. I'm a huge PKD (Phillip K. Dick) fan -- he's the guy who wrote the novel ("Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?") that the movie is loosely based on. The movie both honored the spirit / feel / substance of the novel, AND made a huge stride by completely changing the nature of the Nexus 6 Androids, allowing some GREAT commentary on the human condition, etc. (i.e. Roy Batty's (Rutger Hauer) final "Tears in rain" speech), which as a newly minted senior citizen, STILL brings tears to my eyes, it was so well done. Also, PKD, per his commentary while it was being made was VERY excited about the massive special effects in Blade Runner. Sadly, he died in early 1982 in his 50's (doing lots of serious drugs DOES have significant consequences over time).

I can assure you we weren't. Not any more than Pete and I were in the sense that we were allies in the game. What people don't seem to notice is that the way board looked for black. His stacks were in Egypt and East Africa. He owned Saudi Arabia so couldn't move through there and Pete Pete moved armies to Ukraine and Kamchatka. Black made the move to take 2nd instead of 3rd, which many do in these situations.
@SimplyMatter Жыл бұрын
I can believe it, but still very little reason for black to think he can’t win. If anything, by taking SA, he and Pete can try to pull off deadliest trap and go 1/2. I believe this is what Pete means when he asks if black knows how to play. Instead he guarantees 2nd at best.

Noob question here, perhaps. On the white kill, given that he has only 1 card. isn't it a good idea to just feed the kill to someone else instead of losing around ten troops? I think you kinda painted a target on your back, because killing white made you have more than half the board. Idk, maybe the result would have been the same
@joelwillems4081 Жыл бұрын
Agreed. Personally, I would have stopped after taking back NA. Maybe broke his bonus in Europe so he'd stay weak. But the vengeance thirst is greater when playing in the moment then when just watching. I recently got a second doing a similar thing. But we were both way behind in troops to the top guy so a first probably wasn't gonna happen. I didn't want top guy to chose to give me third instead since they both broke me in the same round.
@ΧάρηςΠαπαδογιάννης Жыл бұрын
Red and black were good to each other the entire game, the fact that you were also good to them from a point on mattered when there were 4 players alive, not when there were 3. I would have done the same thing as black the moment white died (maybe hit you a little less so I would have a better chance on the 1v1). Black still went to top 2 with that play, and he did it in a tenth of the time it would’ve taken had he tried to choke red, just because it wasn’t favourable to you doesn’t mean it was a bad play. Love your videos Pete but you tend to not take it very well when your opponents make plays that make you lose, even if you would’ve done (and actually have done many times in videos) the exact same thing (when you are playing against randoms, and not against top players in tournaments).
@braden8121 Жыл бұрын
Black made a play for second by feeding Pete's kill. Pete would not feed the kill of one of his opponent's into a losing position. That's why it's a bad play

Anytime Pete doesn't win, it seems like he says the other players are playing "incorrectly." Is there a wrong way to play to win that doesn't involve luck?
@TheKillPeteStrategy Жыл бұрын
There's no objectively wrong way to play. There is an objectively wrong way to play if you're playing to win. Not playing to win opens up a whole range of options. Like in this case when black downgraded from a guaranteed second, possible first to a guaranteed second.
@michaelhoogendoorn3179 Жыл бұрын
@TheKillPeteStrategy I gotcha. So because of black's option to wreck you, he only came second, and that's what makes it incorrect play. I know you always play to win, but I think many of us get into our heads when playing and settle for simple high placement anytime the odds look tough.
@bstripp1 Жыл бұрын
Love the channel. But, is it a scumbag play to try and be opportunistic? Even if you've been good friends to someone, when there's a chance to take the lead you take it. Otherwise you get into a stalemate and pay until someone wants to end and suicides. I've seen you do similar things to allies, although you usually try to make sure your allies place high.
@TheKillPeteStrategy Жыл бұрын
For sure you wanna help out your allies. Black downgraded from a guaranteed second, chance for first to a guaranteed second. Not playing to win provides all sorts of strategic advantages in FFA. It also happens to be not playing to win, so I call it out. I also play for second if there's no chance for first. That wasn't the case here.

Why do you keep referring to NA as yours, and insinuate that white should have been nice to you since you spent a 3 in australia? Australia is literally +2 and so is SA. He has the same right to NA as you. Furthermore, he is playing a tactically great game when blocking you and red becoming the NA/EU duo. Or he wanted SA and should have communicated better, but nevertheless you should have pulled the 12 stack up as he was in western us. He gets 4 and you get 5.

I think blacks last move makes some kind of sense, he went from last in troops to a high chance of getting second within a short time frame. Working with you would cause the game to play another 10-40 min and would not ensure him a higher placement. Since white was only sitting on one card after the suicide I think I would only have taken EU and consolidated my troops into one army if I where playing your seat.
