I am planning to retire there so jobs doesn't matter. I don't want to be on the strip so being close enough is fine. I like the safety rating of Henderson. The only concerns of Nevada overall is the water levels and it being hard water (so need a water softener).
@chuckles19723 жыл бұрын
Dude no disrespect, but you talk like Henderson is out in the middle of no where. I live in Henderson Green Valley. I work at the airport and it takes me 10min to get to work. It does't matter where Henderson is located if you live in Summerlin or up by Nellis or North Las Vegas it will take equally time to dive to Henderson. Las Vegas area is not a big city driving 45 minutes or is nothing. I have lived here for 7 years I have never seen a scorpion or a snake. I think views are a little over inflated.
@LivinginLasVegasTomRadachy3 жыл бұрын
No offense taken. I completely understand, and no disrespect to the city of Henderson either. The I info in the video is gathered from a wide range of adults who live and work in Henderson, as well as myself and other online sources. It’s purpose is to show some of the extremes that you may encounter while living in Henderson. But by no means does this video apply to every day or every neighborhood in Henderson. The video does not speak in absolutes. I actually really appreciate you speaking up. Because the people who want to move here deserve to see all sides of the conversation. Thanks @chuckles1972 You wouldn’t happen to have any more Las Vegas valley advice would you? If you do and you like to discuss if off-air 702 530 9249

Wow! I am so confused. Was this just an attempt to get people to watch your video? If those are the 10 worst things about the city, it sounds like a great place to live. I noticed things like crime rate, homelessness, road conditions, quality of schools, etc. were not on your list. Perhaps that’s because the city scores highly in those areas. Maybe your next video should be titled “the top 10 things about living in south central LA”. 1. Home prices are cheap. 2. It’s close to the city. 3. There are no scorpions or coyotes. You could literally use the same list.

I'm from Europe originally and I have lived in L.A., Fort Lee, NJ, Broward County, FL., and now Plano, TX. Traffic in the U.S. is bad in every major metropolitan area. That's just the way it is. I heard Austin is REALLY bad and that's because the U.S. infrastructure hasn't kept up. Distances are very far apart here in DFW. The DFW airport is approx. 30 miles from us here in Plano. The U.S. is a vast country so distances are a part of it. It's not like a Japan or Netherlands for ex. We are starting to look a little at Henderson, NV, i.e. to move there from Plano, TX. The city planning is apparently comparable. I am watching the real estate market and there could be a major correction in the Las Vegas region. I work remotely so I have flexibility with location. Unlike L.A. for ex., the LV Valley is tremendous growth potential and can grow in either direction. It's a very promising market and I'm watching the development. Weather: Texas has the MOST schizophrenic weather maybe in the nation! Moreover, it's get super hot here and it's a lot more humid than Henderson, NV. At least it's a dry heat in Henderson, NV.

Compare the property taxes in Texas to property taxes in Nevada, especially for existing homes. Moving from California to Henderson to NV, I was pleasantly surprised by how low they are because they do not reset with the new purchase price. My friends who moved to Texas SCREAM at their property taxes.

Yes we have restaurants malls casinos. From East Henderson the strip is 20 min away. Green valley is part of Henderson and it’s 10 minutes from the strip. Never once in 15 years have a seen a scorpion.

Hey TVegas. Thanks for watching. This video is simply an example of what you MIGHT run into living in Henderson. Depending on where you live in the city some, all, or none of these things may happen to you. Just because you live in Henderson does not mean you'll experience these all of these cons. Just like living in near the strip doesn't mean you'll get car jacked, it's just a possibility. Or maybe you live in far SE of Henderson near Mission Hills. In that case you very well might experience long drive times for shopping, etc... It's all relative to your personal experience living in and around Henderson. Please keep this in mind when watching this video or ANY video about living in Las Vegas, because this applies to them all. I really appreciate your commentary though. I love hearing from long time residents because your advice in the comments is invaluable to people thinking about moving to the valley.

Henderson is great! Unlike Summerlin, you don't have to go through the Spaghetti Bowl if you work on the strip or downtown. Henderson includes Inspirada, Anthem, Green Valley Ranch, South Fork Ranch, Green Valley, Paradise Hills, Mission Hills, Old Henderson, McDonald Ranch and Sun City Anthem, Lake Las Vegas, Cadence, Whitney Ranch, South Valley Ranch and I know I am missing some of the master planned communities here. We have over 320,000 who live here now. We also have the same school district as LV-which is a blessing and a curse. Oh and we have lots of millionaires (like Nancy Walton Laurie aka Walmart heir) and famous celebrities who live in Henderson too. The Raider's training center is here. And our airport is a hub for lots of private jets and helicopters. It used to be small, but it keeps growing :) Oh! And we also have about 185 miles of biking and hiking trails in Henderson, along with one of the best city park systems in the country. We have won awards for our parks and trails. Henderson has grown so much in the past 3 decades. It is really great! :)

Henderson is "isolated" from the rest of the Las Vegas valley? I disagree. As the second largest city in Nevada that is minutes from the Las Vegas airport and the Strip, this strikes me as a strange observation. Of course this depends on where you live in Henderson but it can take longer to get to the airport from parts of Las Vegas.

Have you even been to Henderson in the past few years??? I've lived here since Oct. 1994. I've seen two major casinos open ( though the Fiesta hasn't reopened ), two colleges, and an unbelieveable amount of stores ( Galleria Mall ) and restuarants , have you ridden up Sunset from 95 to I-15? It was recently the fastest growing city in the U.S.. If it has a problem it is the growth, 215 can't handle the amount of traffic growth has brought!! Jobs are the same as in Vegas, a lot of low paying jobs in the service industry. I do believe Henderson is the 2nd largest city in Nevada, and if you go downtown you can see how much has changed to make this a better place to live.

I’ve lived in Henderson two years we relocated from the midwest. My biggest issue is the driving and i don’t mean distance i mean the WAY people drive is absolutely insane. Almost every time i get into the car i almost get into an accident. And i’m one of the better drivers! We don’t really have insect problems at all other than occasional flies. There are coyotes but they don’t bother anyone much. You will see them occasionally on the roads but more in the rock quarries. Medical is sub-par. Other than that moving here was the best decision we’ve ever made. Love the weather year round.
