What annoys me on Mighty Express are as follows: - None of the trains except People-mover Penny are based on actual trains (Penny is the only train that is based on the San Francisco Cable trolley car) - The couplers are basically Lima or Roco model train couplers - The stories felt similar or the same as the previous - The train characters are restricted to haul only one or two rolling stock

I tried watching the first episode of the series and I just couldn't get past it. It is the most mind-numbing and pandering kid show on Netflix, I cannot believe it was even conceived in the first place. I have a nephew who is constantly put in front of the screen watching cocomelon and I don't want that for them. Luckily, whenever they came over, they would always want to play with my Thomas toys, which is something I guess. But yeah, This show should not be seen by anyone of any age. It is an empty and worthless experience that deserves to be forgotten about.

The only time I knew of Mighty Express' existence was the trailers for seasons 1, 2, and its Christmas special. Those same trailers were the only times I ever saw footage for that steaming heap of scrap metal. I'm glad for two things. 1. I never saw the full episodes themselves. 2. It ended after its 7th season. I'll bet even Keith Chapman (the man behind the Bob the Builder and Paw Patrol) wasn't proud of this trash. This series is just the HiT, Sharon Miller, BWBA and AEG (even though AEG didn't exist yet) eras and even Chuggington, CGI Fireman Sam, and 2015 Bob the Builder, but 50 times worse.
@sericsmith5770 Жыл бұрын
I very much agree. In fact, I'd go so far as to say that the only good shows out there are ones that are intelligent enough to actually be enjoyable, in this case, for adults (and older siblings) to watch them with their children. This is why shows like Bluey are so popular with even older audiences, because, in spite of them being targeted at preschoolers, they are not necessarily "preschool shows" in the same way that Cocomelon is a "preschool channel." The latter is merely the result of what happens when creators try to cater to preschoolers and preschoolers alone. It is that easy to settle for mediocrity when catering to kids only, at least, as long as one forgets about the fact that children have a huge potential to be smart. In fact, the whole reason I've loved the Thomas franchise ever since Kindergarten was because of the fact that most of the characters were based on real locomotives! (So sad to see the series go downhill.)

On seeing how bland Mighty Express is, I feel bad for my brother and sister-in-law showing it to their boys. I will be sure to show them good stuff when they're old enough, like the original Thomas & Friends. It may sound pathetic that we're even talking about these kinds of pre-school shows; but if we don't, your nephew and mine will become complacent with trash like Mighty Express, Cocomelon or Peppa Pig. I sure don't want that. Do you?
@sammyclark4992 Жыл бұрын
I can only assume that the reason why people in the fandom or outside it never talk about Mighty Express is because they either aren't aware of its existence or they are but choose not to talk about it because it isn't really worth it. That is, if they watched it or not, like me, for example. Whether they consider it bad or not, it's not exactly a popular or noteworthy show like Paw Patrol or Chuggington. People in the Thomas fandom mostly discuss things relating to that franchise, and while Mighty Express is a show about talking vehicles similar to Thomas, I see more people talk about Chuggington because that's not only a more popular series that's been around longer but also because of how infamous it is amongst the fandom. Even if it is just them riffing on the series. While I, too, consider TME to be worse than both its sister show and Chuggington, isn't really worth talking about in all honesty. I don't just wanna say because I think it's bad as I've never watched it, but just because it's not for me. And that is because of its writing. I feel like the chances of seeing people actually talk about this show is if they had either watched Paw Patrol and then watched this or any very young kids that have watched this themselves. This show in my eyes will probably just be remembered as that one "spin-off" or alternate universe series to Paw Patrol but all of the talking dogs are replaced with talking trains. Despite not being a good show necessarily, the show is harmless which could also be a reason why you don't see people talk about it. And even though you put it up there with shows like Cocomelon, I don't think any kids show can surprass the amount of crap that is Cocomelon. At least (even though I never watched it again) Mighty Express doesn't make me feel uncomfortable and the animation looks good. And it doesn't star a baby. Sorry that I ranted on for like the third time on your channel lol. I also think a lot of my grammar needs improving because I feel like a lot of what I just typed came off as sloppy. Looking forward to your review on The Little Engine That Could 2011 movie.

The second All Engines Go came out, the second everything went downhill for vehicle animated series', and it's not just All Engines Go, every single vehicle animated series might end up sucking because of the changes that every single children's show had to do (except Bluey, Bluey ended up becoming good by itself and I'm thankful that we at least currently have one good children's show, same goes with Sesame Street which is still cooking to this day, shoutout to Joan Ganz Cooney and Lloyd Morrissett for giving us a godsend of a children's show). 32:40 similar thing happened with another Netflix show that’s actually good called Hilda. In 2020 a plush company called GUND produced some Hilda merchandise. It wasn’t big just some bigger plushies of Hilda and Twig, along with some blind bag keychains plushies that had some of the characters. Around 2022 they dropped the license to produce more merch of the show due to unknown reasons. I think they stopped due to what you basically said about the merch. Not a lot of people saw it or had exposure to it so it didn’t really sell well. Hey, Wak! After your review, I checked out a few clips of the show myself, and I think I've seen everything I have to see about it. I love your ideas to fix Mighty Express and I love the new designs you created for the main train characters and the adult human drivers. In my universe though, I think I'd make the trains human child characters who drive the trains, and each one of them would have an adult who helps and mentors them (Save for Red and Flicker, who would have one adult who mentors both of them) and act as their parental figures. I'd keep Tricky Ricky and Sneaky Stella as human kids though, and are the ones who constantly screw over the kid drivers, with their adult mentors backing them up whenever they do so. But overall, great review! Edit: Wow, I got 9 likes! Thank you so much ❤
@davydigger70811 ай бұрын
Ooh! I like that idea! It would allow for more scenarios where the trains get into trouble and have to call on the adult mentors to help them get out of the jam. Personally, I would make the railroad operations (slightly) more realistic (maybe not as much as Thomas, but maybe have an actual rail yard where they pick up their rail cars for the jobs, and perhaps use ones slightly more suited for the job. Also, perhaps have realistic signals and operators like in Thomas and Friends.) Honestly, my take on the characters is similar to Wak's (maybe a little different) - most of them mean well but have at least one weakness - or a personality train that is sometimes a strength and sometimes a weakness. For example, Nate has a strong desire to do good and make the world a better place, and he is bold, confident, and heroic (like in the show), but sometimes he gets over-confident and tries to do too much, or he tries to find ways to do good but they end up causing more harm than good, and he has to try and figure out how to sort it all out in the end (this was touched on just a little in the show, but maybe put a little more emphasis on it). Also, perhaps the human kids could still be helping their parents run the different businesses in town. I like the kids getting a lot of the focus - it's just weird that there are no adults in town at all.
@erintwomey384611 ай бұрын
@@davydigger708 I'm glad you like my ideas, mate. But keep in mind, in this universe, the kid trains, such as Freight Nate, are human children themselves, and they drive the non-sentient trains. The adults who accompany them are the ones who mentor them on how to do their jobs properly, a bit like the dynamic between the three trainees and their respective mentors in Chuggington's seasons 4 and 5. I intend to keep Sneaky Stella as a child, and she and Tricky Ricky tend to screw over the kid drivers. I have one idea that in one instance, they scare Penny with a ghost story, and then scare her even more by pretending to be the ghost itself. And when Alexa (Penny's adult mentor in this version) finds out what they're up to, she gives them a taste of their own medicine by pretending to be a ghost and scaring them silly.

I feel like most, if not all, cartoons/shows about trains these days don't really hit home in any way. The biggest seller for the Railway Series/early Thomas and Friends show was that they were real engines, held in real worlds, with real people, doing real jobs, and real responsibility if they mess up. Nothing zany, just big machines doing what they were built to do. But now it is all jumps, big spins, wacky physics and bendable trains. There is nothing keeping the "real" feel of the trains. While the stretchy styles are great for things like people/animals, and even cars if executed well, locomotives just don't look right within this style. The closest I have seen to this style working with trains was Chuggington, but it still didn't seem right. I think if a studio were to make a cartoon about actual anthropomorphic trains that can't jump off the tracks, and use them to do actual jobs, if done right it could be a great show/movie. However, I really like your idea of a redesign! I am an amateur Blender animater, and I love modelling/animating trains and steam effects and am experimenting with Blender's physics. While I am not great at it, I would love to help work on models for a redesign. If anyone reading this wants to make a fan spin-off of the show, I would be happy to help if I'm not busy with other projects!

This is gonna sound extremely stupid but the biggest reason I hate Mighty Express and am mad at it is because of the episode about the missing wood. They chose to use a beaver as the culprit when the character should have been a wood chipper instead. It’s a show about talking heavy machines and they really f ed up bad missing that as an opportunity. They could have introduced a talking wood chipper as a character, which to my knowledge, has never been done in a SINGLE show about talking machines, but no, they decided to use the same “construction worker beaver” cliche that everyone else uses. Why not add a more unusual type of heavy machine? No one else has done that.

I used to love the show and I watched the entire series (due to being a fan of Meesha Contreras' voice acting and trying out other things he was involved in aside from All Engines Go), but now based on noticing the flaws from the start and noticing negative reviews, now I'm starting to realize the harsh and uncomfortable reality that it is just another generic "baby show" that Thomas fans hate and as a result, I'm no longer a fan of that show. :(

The thing that I like about Chuggington is that they base some of their engines off of real ones for an example rooster is based off the class 55 Deltic loco, which was built in British railways

Have you heard of the animated tv series "Yoko"? It came out in November 13 2015 and I remember watching it a few years ago. I remembered it originally aired on Netflix about some time ago and I was already impressed by how good the show looked upon watching it for the first time. The characters were all quite charming, (and kinda blocky, too) especially Mai, (my favorite out of the trio, consisting of Vik and Oto) whom I actually found to adore, and the personalities of each of the characters were all unique, basically to make the trio different. I was a little disappointed when I found out that the show was removed from Netflix after it has been there for about a few years, although I did realize that the show was on KZbin for quite some time, so I'm glad I'm still able to watch the episodes I watched. It was one of my favorite shows when I was a young teen!

Did forget to say this they are exactly like Blaze and the Monster Machines which is another show made by the same company, and the characters act alot like the characters from Blaze and the Monster Machines as well, also its like also how the town is run no human grownups but two kids in the whole city and its filled with Monster Trucks like how Cars is with cars.

The thing that confuses me the most about Mighty Express is the cargo the characters have to take. In what realistic setting would you need a TRAIN to deliver pizza or cooked popcorn? It reminds me of some of the Hit era episodes of TTTE were the engines are given jobs that could be done more effectively by another form of transportation.

Might Express is so incredibly mid. I just feel dead inside watching it. At least for AEG, we get to feel something other than hollowness. For a lot of Thomas fans, it's pure, unadulterated hatred. For me, it bounces between giddy, sadness, the feeling you get when you know you're being advertised to and have become numb to it, and sometimes even mildly disturbed (mostly from the times the animators said "screw it" and let the trains stand on their hind wheels).

Have you heard of this talking vehicle show named "Construction Site" made by The Jim Hanson Company back in 1999. It's like Bob the Builder, but more mature because there are episodes like Truckmate, Junkyard, Emmission Impossible, etc that have words like 5tup1d, 1d10t, Fu*k, etc.

The sequence where they get the "mega-mission" alone is full of problems. They always call all the trains together even when they've already picked out the only one they need. What kind of railway only does one thing a day? Do they really need to wash and tune up a loco before every assignment? Why would washing controls be built like a DJ booth? Every time a car is brought out and the camera spins around it, I feel like it's saying "Available at all good toy shops." Taking off with such speed that the train comes off the rails is extremely dangerous and the whole thing is loaded with catchphrases.

This comment will not have anything to do with Mighty Express. But if anyone can make a vehicle show like Thomas, Chuggington, Cars, Theodore Tugboat, Underground Ernie, Bob the Builder, and even TUGS. Something makes me think of getting the idea of making a train show mixed within the likes of The Simpsons, South Park, American Dad, Smiling Friends, F is for Family, Family Guy, Rick and Morty, and even the Fionna and Cake adult oriented Adventure Time spin-off. Wouldn't that be interesting? This time, I'll say something about Mighty Express. It is not for me and I barely have any interest if it's really one of those kids' shows that gives Barney, Cocomelon, or Ryan's World a run for their money.

Hey, unrelated, but could you do a review on Robot Trains? It's a kids TV show about talking trains, that can both talk and interact as humans, without the need of them. I know it's pretty far from being something Thomas to be a rip off of it, but I kinda wants someone in the fandom to talk about it, since it's a show that replaced Thomas's timeslot in the TV channel here in my country
