In BotW's defense, you aren't _supposed_ to get all 900 of them, hence the "why would you do this" quote-unquote 'prize' at the end. You only need 441 of them to fully upgrade your inventory, so they put in over twice as many so the average player that isn't actively hunting for Korok seeds will still be able to get all of the practical upgrades.

Yeah, Breath of the Wild is great that way. None of the 100% achievement rewards are real, just useless key items that sit in your inventory forever. That way, the people who don't want to 100% it don't feel like they have to or they're missing out, and those who like to 100% games will get the thrill from the accomplishment, itself, without the need for reward. It's the best way to handle collectibles in an open world game.

@@godzillagod9752 They added in so many so that there'd always be something for the player to find wherever they looked and so that the player could fully upgrade their inventory without needing to thoroughly comb the map for every single Korok. Obligate 100% is not fun for everyone. Only needing the player to find about half of the Koroks is a brilliant decision that works for every type of player.

1 honourable mention is genshin impact, since a 100% completion would require you to get 100% exploration progress in every area, which there are currently 19 of, and one takes hours to get 100% on. Then there are many world quests and story quests, hundreds of achievements with some even being hidden until you get them, and finally, adventure rank 60, which takes litteral years if you don't pay money. Not to mention that the game is still incomplete.

To be fair, the worst game to 100% is easily dead cells. With it being a hellscape to beat once, beating the game gives you a boss cell. An item that changes the game from extremely hard, to downright crimes against the capital hard. And get this there are 5 of them in total. Every time you beat the game the difficulty rails up by an insane amount and you have the beat that to get the next one until finally you get a 5 and can play the most unfair boss in the game and get the true ending. (I highly recommend watching windettes videos on dead cells hell mode.)

Idk, dead cells isnt that hard when considering rogue likes, and it has quite a few ways to speed up the upgrades getting process, granted the last bosses are challenging as fuck (as they should), but i would say enter the gungeon is way worse to 100%

The binding of isaac is long too. There are a lot characters and everyone of them has a completion page of like 12 things. You have to complete every character and touch every item to complete one save file. But you ha e to do this 3 times to finish it.

i'm lowkey shocked stardew wasn't mentioned? i mean i get it's not THAT difficult but. you have to collect all of the fish, gems, artifacts, crops, and golden walnuts PLUS max out all of the relationships with the 30~ townspeople, upgrade your house fully, build all of the obelisks, build the golden clock (which costs 10 mil gold), complete all of the monster eradication goals, reach lvl 10 in every skill, cook every recipe, craft all items, etc. and that's for the in-game perfection. if you want to achievement hunt, it's pretty similar... with one exception. to get all achievements, you have to complete journey of the prairie king WITHOUT losing a life at all. that game is BRUTAL even without the challenge. i got so close to beating it on my last life on the last level and died last second. i nearly screamed i was so upset.

The only one of these that I finished is Assassin's Creed Valhalla and it took me somewhere between 200 to 300 hours. Legends Arceus took me 420hr to perfect every pokedex entry

One game that may be worse than some on this list to 100% is Pokemon Legends: Arceus. I believe that would require perfecting the dex entries of all 242 pokemon, which involves catching a lot of them, seeing them use certain moves, certain styles of move, and all of those Paths of Solitude. All of that would take hours upon hours of hunting down mons and using them over and over again, with repeated trips to heal because you ran out of a certain move's power points because you used it in Strong Style too much. Love the game, but 100% completion would be a nightmare

Now imagine other Pokémon games where the laguage adds to your dex. 100% dex would require every Pokémon in every language the game supports, plus all shinies as well (gender differences included). If anyone would try it, don't do a game with spinda in their dex.

Sure, no problem. "I want to see the completed dex entry for Z Pokémon." Already done, my dude. They're pretty effortless.

If you count mmorpgs then the worst one is elder scrolls online. Not only is there an achievement called master angler which is catching all different types fish in all starter areas which are different rarities. You cant catch all these in the same fishing spot either you need lake, river, pond, and ocean sometimes. Equaling 207 different fish of different rarities that takes people INSANE amounts of time to get since its pure rng. Also fishing spots go away after a few fishes so you have to constantly be moving around in your area to find the next set of bubbles. There's also the emporer achievement which requires you to be number 1 at some point in an alliance war. Which means you need to be the best player in a 3-way grand pvp war with hundreds up to 1800 active players. The only way for you to get this is to also be in a large group of players that are able to successfully take forts so you can get a lot of points. Which means your not only battling other teams your battling the people in your own group fighting with you for this achievement. Not to mention that anyone who has done this gets a special skill tree greatly increasing their stats meaning its even harder to beat those at the top. So you need to verse people who play only pvp mode all day everyday and somehow get more points than them. So yea you gotta be the best pvper AND try your luck with rng for forever. Not to mention fully explore and do all events of an mmorpg.

The Korok seeds isn't even all you need to do to get 100% completion. You also need to complete the compendium, taking pictures of every single enemy, item, animal, and plant in the game. You know those random birds you see flying around? Yeah, you need to take a picture of them. And there's about five different colors based on region, and you need pictures of all of them. Also, you need Kilton's medals, requiring that you defeat every single boss enemy in the game. Now, there's only four moldugas, so that's not a big deal, but there are 40 hinoxes and 40 taluses, and you need to find and kill all of them. You also need to complete all of the side quests in the game, and NPCs that give you quests don't have helpful markers over their heads, so you basically need to just talk to every single NPC, even the ones that look irrelevant. It's a lot to chew through.

I feel like Pokemon Legends Arceus should be on this list, because to 100% it, you need to complete all of the side quest and main quest, fully upgrade your item sachet and buy all of the clothing items, which takes over 10 million dollars, and of course, perfect every single Pokedex entry, which there are over 240 of that each requires around 1 hour each.

The game I've hated completing the most is Labyrinth of Refrain Coven of Dusk. I was already having a terrible time playing the game casually no thanks to its stupid gore hit system (every time a hit lands, it has a chance to tear off the legs, arms, body or head of one of your characters, which causes a penalty to their max health on top of not being able to wield a weapon, piece of armor or just *reduces their max HP to 0* until you repair them) and karma meter that the game thinks isn't worth explaining up until Amadeus (It increases whenever you kill "good" monsters, causes you to suffer more critical hits and lose limbs more often and the only way to decrease it is to go back to your base and use the Scapegoat option) that were annoying me the entire time. But then I reached the final boss and got absolutely destroyed. It turns out that in order to make the final boss manageable, I need to use a spell exclusive to the Great Sage's Pact. The only tip you're given is a throwaway line about a Great Sage from Campanula. Except the Great Sage is *not* in Campanula. What you're actually supposed to do is a ton of fetch quests (helpfully named "Apprentice Notes" just in case they didn't look skippable enough). Eventually, clearing enough of Newt's fetch quests will award you the Great Sage's Key with no fanfare. So obviously, one of the chests in Campanula opened using the Great Sage's Key gives you the Great Sage's Pact, right? No, instead you need to go to the final dungeon, where one of the chests that can be opened using the Great Sage's Key contains Furia's Key. Then you bring Furia's Key all the way to the bottom of Campanula and use it to open a chest containing the Great Sage's Pact with even less fanfare. All this is done so you can get the game's *normal* ending. Having read about all the steps I needed to follow just to finish the game made me think how if I was doing all this, I might as well get the true ending, because you still see the normal ending before starting the secret dungeon. To unlock the secret dungeon, you need to beat a series of optional bosses, each found in one of the six main dungeons. Devon is found in Campanula, has a simple boss fight and is fairly easy to find, but it causes some confusion because the game shows you its event marker but hides the stairs to Campanula's bottom floor. The aptly named Deus Ex Machina is found in Astrom by clearing *even more* Apprentice Notes and its fight is really boring. Empress Junon from Melm is when these fights start to suck, because for she's invincible until you use an ability obtained from Bah-Bah's Pact for no reason. King Pecoro has caused players a lot of frustration for having a fight too easy to accidentally trigger when you're exploring Phenom for the first time, leading to loads of cheap deaths due to having an event marker to "Hide" that railroads you into fight it instead. Overlord Furfur is one of the worst bosses I've ever faced and the fact that her rival has the audacity to tell you to kill her before having finished the Umbra Towers is absurd. Zlavec is probably the best of these bosses (even if they expect you to beat the Overlord first) due to having a decent amount of build up throughout Amadeus and not relying on any cheap tricks like Junon or Furfur... even though the sheer amount of build up made me think it was a mandatory fight to beat the dungeon. After beating all these bosses and then the final boss of the normal ending, you finally unlock the Unclean Ornit on top of a few more Apprentice Notes so the game can be extra annoying to complete. This is the longest dungeon and the most annoying, because it has one song that plays almost the entire time you're exploring and has boss fights *before* checkpoints. There's also the superboss Metallia, which I still found easier than Furfur. By the time I saw the true final boss start with an insta-kill move that targets your entire party in a game with no OHKO protection, I gave up and resorted to using an exploit. Or at least what I think it's an exploit, the steps to using it are about as much obtuse as obtaining the Great Sage's Pact.

Lego star wars the skywalker saga should be on this list. It has SOOO MANY THINGS TO COLLECT. Like you have 1100 kyber bricks you have 400 characters to unlock you have to beat all 9 episodes (each takes 2 hours)each episode has 6 levels each level has 5 minkits and 3 challenges and most of these you can't do o your first run. You have over 100 different ships like this game is insane. It took me like 300 hours to get all the collectibles without counting achievements cuz I haven't done a few. Sadly the reward for 100% it is infinite money generator that you won't use cuz you already have everything. Also pat if you are reading this have you ever played a lego star wars game? If not i would like to see you play one of them on stream

Riddler's puzzles and collectibles don't need a guide to locate or solve. Arkham Knight is the 4th game in the series and fans had less patience for Riddler's shenanigans than they did when they first played the earlier games and/or they'd grown accustomed to using guides to speed up their replays of the earlier games, likely after having already found/solved those legitimately once or twice already (unless collectibles REALLY aren't that player's thing).

Oh I attempted that Bladder of Steel challenge back in the days of when I actually had a Wii. I never beat it since it was 1AM when someone successfully pulled the plug from my fun and I guess I never tried since then. I hear the Xenoblade games are pretty hard to complete since there's alot of sidequests and some of them are timed. Completely different game in my case but the tons of requests that I felt obligated to do is the reason why I got burnout playing FFXV, though because of that I was very overleveled for around chapter's 6-7. Speaking of Square Enix, Kingdom Hearts 3 Re:Mind would probably also be on that list due to the pro codes trophy, the Re:Mind story, Data Org and Yozora are doable but the latter two are also much harder than everything in the base game (Although Re:Mind itself is also this if you never use Sora, especially with the one time you can play as Kairi. That's probably harder than Yozora). Fellow British Tuber, RabbidLuigi, mentioned Tales of Maj'Eyal as the pinnacle of difficult to complete games, granted that was 6 years ago. But if the game is still around with what he described, then I would highly doubt it's even possible to complete it, or even get anywhere close anytime soon. Edit: It came to mind earlier but I forgot to talk about Yooka Laylee and the Impossible Lair. Part of the completion difficulty comes with it already being a hard game, much like it's spiritual predecessor Donkey Kong Country. If that weren't enough there's one achievement that makes everything come tumbling down to "not even gonna fucking happen" territory: Beating the impossible lair without any upgrades. Jirard of The Completionist did this, but it was far from easy.

I finished getting the korok seeds a few nights ago and I feel so proud of myself for it! ^-^ All I have left is armor upgrades, beating the final boss so I can get the compendium pics from Symin that I accidently missed, and the whole thing with beating all of the overworld bosses! I platinumed Valhalla. It was a nightmare. There was one specific collectable that bugged out for me. It wasn't impossible but it was a nightmare to get. It was on a platform that is supposed to drop down to the ground and you grab it from there... but it didn't drop. It was suspended in midair and you needed to do jumping slowmo tricks to get it. It took me an hour at least.

2:30 that was actually commissioner Gordon patterz lol. Also I had played BOTW and I struggled with the weapon breaking since that was a new feature. Assassins Creed Valhalla was fine but it got boring because now it’s irrelevant objectives I don’t even care about got ragnarok. Some of the coolest weapons you can wield are Odins Staff, King Arthur’s Sword, and actual Mjolnir (the hammer Thor wields and to be able to pull it out you need all of thors clothes and you have to complete the main story. Batman Arkham Knight I actually played and I got completionist on I don’t really much care for the riddler trophies but in order to do Knightfall Protocol you have to. Also for Red Dead Redemption 2 did not complete everything because I only killed legendary animals that I can use for new outfits. For all those games it took a long time and I completed Arkham Knight 7 years ago.

I've 100% all of the Dead Space games, I can see where they're coming from with 2, it can be pretty punishing if you're not familiar with it or have every encounter memorized but I wouldn't really call it annoying like the other games on this list. Beating DS2 on Hardcore you can feel like you genuinely accomplished a difficult challenge whereas a lot of these are just filling in a shopping list. I did have a friend who attempted Bladder of Steel a couple of times, emphasis on attempted.

DS1 was too outdated, and DS3 was not only boring, but my loneliness prevent me from complete it since coop is required to get everything. I do completed DS2, it was actually funny how in sync i was in changing tools for different purposes. Old trusty plasma cutter for everything, a section with a lot of little kid like zombies, bring up the ripper. Want something to eliminate quickly that final boss, contact beam.

I got the 900 korok seeds in BOTW, took me around 115 hours played to do so. Only used a guide for the last 100 or so (probably would have been faster had I used a guide to begin with)

The top 10 video is an offense against Hyrule Warriors: Definitive Edition : (I'm basically saying the same things as the video on it from the Completionist here, but I did play the game and 100%ed Adventure mode at least to feel able to rant about it) First, you need to complete the story. Normal, right ? Four times. You have to do it four times because of each level of difficulty. Don't miss the golden skultulas and heart pieces and containers while you're at it. Second, adventure mode, composed of more or less 10 maps, each being divided into multiple map tiles and you have to do every one of them with an A rank of course. Don't forgets chests containing heart pieces / containers that appear after clearing specific keeps. I 've got got by that trick a few times. And the last map has its tiles getting available only by getting all the golden skultulas, one tile per map. Third, the characters themselves because why not? You have to get them to level 255 because if you don't, does it feel like 100%? And every single one of them have badge trees you can fill by spending materials, some of them being really rare of course. And there's a pourcentage meter for every three badge trees of every character. Fourth, My Fairy mode. Oooooooo boy, there you have to feed fairies so that you upgrade their personality traits to unlock new spells that you can use in battle, but the fairies have a level cap at 99 so you need to reset them to get a remainder of the lost amount put in the traits to get to the thresholds for the needed traits for each spell. I'm currently trying to get the one that gives three refill of the magic meter, I'm 1 trait away but there's not so much food that gives a boost for this one. Fifth, the medals. There's an in game achievement system, most of it being 100%ing Adventure mode, whatever. But there's a medal that requires you to unlock all fairy spells on one fairy. And I don't remember for sure, but I think there was another for uping all character ms to level 255, I should check that, but I'm not sure. At, least, all my characters are at least near level 100 if not at 100. And of course, the Las tmedal is to get all th ethers, but I don't have amiibo so I won't do that. So, yeah, I'm doing it because I wanted to try it, but more or less like The Completionist said, I wouldn't wish that to be forced on my enemy.

It's not actually hard to 100% the game but it's literally impossible to 100% Tales of the Abyss on your first playthrough because one of the side quests/mini games involves you making a certain kind of equipment. _HOWEVER_ the catch is that you can only make one of the two equipments per playthrough. So you either get the armor or you get the sword. There's no way to get both in one run. _AND_ on top of that you can't actually carry over equipment into your next playthrough (you can carry over items, "special" items, and even money but not equipment) so if you forget to or just aren't able to for whatever reason carry over your collector's book data then it makes it literally impossible to completely 100% the game even on your second playthrough because you'd be right back to square 1 being completely unable to get both items. So it's not really too hard necessarily to 100% the game it's just a single side quest that screws you over on your first playthrough/on any subsequent playthroughs where you don't carry over your collector's book which I find to be equal parts amusing and frustrating since I'm already not very good at filling out the entire collector's book in any tales game (the closest I got was Tales of Vesperia Definitive Edition and I'm still missing like 50 something and I can't complete the dragon riding mini game that unlocks access to the entire world map meaning I can't complete the monster book at all...) and this would force me to get everything except for one item (which is actually not too bad since I'm pretty sure I could do that in Abyss) but I'd also have to do the stupid blacksmithing mini game which I'm terrible at for whatever reason... So yeah, noob problems am I right? Even though I'm technically not a noob...I just suck despite having years of experience...

Took me 175hrs to complete ac oddyssey plus the dlc first blade and fate of atlantis and to collect and solve the onigmatika ostraka all view point synch locations and small areas like camps and fortresses for all reals greek World elysium underworld and atlantis. Even if ac odyssey isn't canon that's the only ac game I 100% completed maxing my level to around 85 then doing new game plus then getting the next 14 levels to reach max lv 99 also armour and weapons and ship all maxed out. in New game plus I finished the game in under 150hrs since I collected most items in the first playthrough

Alien Isolation should definitely of been on this list! That game is ridiculous to 100% and especially get the Platinum Trophy. There is literally a trophy for beating the game on the hardest difficulty, only being able to save a total of 3 times and you have to get through the game without dying or killing anything. INSANE

I got one that's pretty bad Xenoblade Chronicles 2. there's like 250 side quest plus story plus DLC and Torna the Golden Country. They don't give tutorials there's like 20 something blades plus DLC then the blades side quest plus heart-to-hearts and that darn Tiger Tiger game. I mostly compete it. the rare blades are hard to get and the more rare blades you get less chances of a rare blade is and one rare blade is 1/1,000 chance to get with a Common Core Crystal. but at least they made the Core Crystals pretty easy to get I when you get to Mor Ardain.

The Binding of Isaac is pretty fucked to complete, you have to 100% the whole game three times over on a fresh save each time, all 34 characters with one of them being linked to the worst game mode in game mode history, all 700 something items, every ending, I'm pretty sure you have to beat each end game boss on hard difficulty, with each of the 34 characters (keep in mind one of these characters you can't even get hit once with), every challenge in the game, most needing to be unlocked by the characters, and you have to do this Three. Times. Over
